Can a person sue for this?

Featured Replies

I remember a lawsuit by a corp head from EVE Online. He sued his corp pilot for wasting an expensive ship. Unfortunately, court dismissed the case because it had no jurisdiction in the space of New Eden... Yeah, people definitely do take games too serious.

Dude... It's just a game, everybody's gotta calm down...

  • I highly doubt a court would be willing to hear a case over 3rd party models in a video game.

Am i the only one who was thinking about that "Weird" Al Yankovic song while reading this thread? :D

No. You're altering San Andreas without Rockstars approval so this doesn't matter, you'll probably get a fine for wasting the courts time if you try to sue them. Besides, good luck finding a lawyer to take that case. If it doesn't benefit them, they won't waste there time.

You can't sue someone for looking at you funny. If that was the case then there would be no such thing as "poor" because of people sueing everyone because "He looked at me funny." There has to be an actual legal premise to sue someone.

Yes you can... but like I just said, you might not get that far with it. The court might not want to hear it.

I've had people attempt to sue me for a whole range of things.

In this situation based on the small amount of info available I'd say to back off and leave him alone. Theoretically if a court was to hear this issue there's a chance you'd end up worse off. Practically, they're far too busy to worry about such an issue.

1. None of your business. How old are you?

2. I am not thinking about suing him, he threatened to sue me.

3. CALM DOWN.

Does this pack include all original work created by the original uploader or permission provided by the creator thereto?

If the answer to the above question is no and the pack includes models such as the Ford Crown Victoria then you have contravened the law by distributing a branded item. Replica works are not copyrighted for obvious reasons and as such no, you could not sue the individual as you have no reasonable grounds for doing so.

Furthermore, it is a breach of the Terms & Conditions set out by Rockstar (as regards use of GTA) to modify the game in any way and distribute any file related therein. (Don't believe me? Go and read the T&C's in the user manual.) So in actuality, Rockstar would have a very strong case against even the LCPDFR team.

These files are part of the SA clan that I am in made by our lead Commissioner. I have actually filed the DMCA report already.

Honestly, most request or demands for users NOT to steal, re-upload or re-distribute stand purely on the users own ethics when it comes to content of this nature.  We know not all people have ethics and have the ability to respect others hard work when downloading, but never the less, that’s the downside with shareware. Unless the maker of the content has copyrights filed with the government of the creator(s) country, a law suit would be a dead issue. It would cost far more to attempt to sue someone and/or pay a lawyer and fight someone about content of this size, than the actual “worth” content itself. That is unless the creator can prove its monetary value and /or profitability. Sorry for typing the book of john. Just food for thought.

A lady somewhere in the US is suing a dead kid,  yes a dead kid whom she killed with her vehicle, and is also suing her family who wasn't even there for here "pain & anguish" the accident caused her, the fuck is wrong with society?

Reminds me of various cases where people were sued due to breaking the ribs of people they were saving with CPR. That really pisses me off.

Person 1: Hey you, you broke my ribs well saving my life, I'm going to sue you!

Person 2: Fine, next time you suffer a cardiac unrest, I'll leave you to die instead!
