I have no issue with DICE, I'm actually incredibly pumped for Star Wars Battlefront. My main issue is with EA.

But enough of that. I'm just super excited to see something like this. It reminds me of the old SWAT games on the PC and PS2. You can only do the "Chinese vs US or Russia vs US" for so long.

I just really hope they dont COD-ify this game. Make it play like a normal BF game please.

As well, I'm a bit bummed that DICE isn't making it. I'm a DICE fanboy because I've been playing BF1942 since when it was first released and I still love it. Not to mention BF3 :)

I 100% agree with everything you said. I've also been a fan since BF1942. And with the list of vehicles they have (choppers, high speed pursuit vehicles and armored cars) they're already trying to not COD-ify it. I have faith.

I could go on about EA but I wouldn't want to steer this thread off-topic. I'll just go ahead and say that I hate EA with a passion, especially since they've ruined so many great franchises.

I heard rumors a few months ago and was like "what the hell?"... Melee weapons, a Taser? If it was April 1st I wouldn't buy any of this... Unfortunately, it doesn't look like a joke...

Until then, Visceral Games' Steve Papoutsis stated that Hardline will be "a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love - the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals." Papoutsis noted that they're adding "new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer" while creating a single-player mode as well.

I'm still hesitant... Should I be excited?

On a side note: notice what appears to be LAPD Caprices, most likely in reference to Heat.

The video above has been taken down by EA. After a quick YT search, found another one, a Omaha Gameplay Trailer:-

Seems pretty interesting. I'm excited, but still curious on how it's going to work out & how the gameplay is going to be.

EDIT: Seems that video was removed by the uploader.
Replaced it with another gameplay video. Gameplay starts at 0:30

Well, it doesn't look terrible? I think this is the first time I've ever been more excited for a campaign than the multiplayer.

I am so exited! Too bad it ain't made by DICE. I honestly don't think they should call it "Battlefield Hardline because BF games is about war, here it is cops n' crooks. It should be called " EA SWAT" or "Special Weapons And Tactics EA " in my opinion.

(It says EA for copyright thingies because SWAT is made by Sierra not EA.)

I'm confused about the video, how come he's a Miami detective but everything's set in LA? And the "regular" cruiser looked pretty mutch like LAPD's old Caprice's.

Anyways, always nice with a new and refreshing game, it will be interesting I have to say to see the result.

If this game turns out to be as good as we all want it to be, it can only be exploited for realism to a very limited extent. This will be a normal battlefield game- just with police themed objects, cars, guns etc.

Sure, it will be nice to have this. But I think it will be hard for EA to live up to expectations. Also, it's EA.

I've already decided not to put any faith in this.

Why? Because at 1:57 "there has never been a greater need for the teamwork and tactical gameplay that battlefield fans expect."

Not a single battlefield fan or player uses teamwork or tactics. Nobody uses the balance of the squad by going a different class. Nobody even gives any attention to their team members.

So basically what that means is that the developers are putting absolute trust in the "Cops 'n' Crooks" theme over battlefield's typical gameplay to bring all the players together rather than make a decent SWAT game with decent SWAT mechanics.

So heist mode is basically battlefield's Rush game mode, one team defends and the other attacks, but with a different skin over it. Instead of bombing a target they're trying to steal it.

Rescue mode is exactly the same except the positions are reversed, cops try to get the hostages, crooks defend.

Hotwire mode so far seems to be the only one which looks like they did something unique.

Bloodmoney mode is just conquest. Capture and hold to win.

Destruction AND levolution? So...exactly the same as frostbite 3 (battlefield 4 engine)

"Hunting down campers has never been this much fun." Hunting campers is never fun you end up miles away from the action, and if they're true to what they say about the maps being bigger this will suck even more. Nice to see they've done nothing to make camping harder then.

Yeah ok, maybe I'm being too critical of it. But when you say "SWAT game" to me I don't like to think "generic first person shooter". And it just seems like they haven't really done anything original to get my interest. As a battlefield fan I can see nothing unique, I accept that battlefield as a series is very much the same with a different story, fine. But when you throw the title to a new developer and they go from country vs country war to SWAT vs criminal organisation you would expect a whole lot more than just a remake of the series with a new skin.

I'll watch their e3 presentation (assuming it will be different to that 'leaked' video) and take a more informed stance then. But for now, I'm not particularly thrilled by this.

I will definitely disagree with the "no one uses teamwork or tactics". Uh. I do. My friends do. Many youtubers (LvlCap, Westie, ect) do. Sure, a lot of randoms don't give a rip, but you can't say "not a single battlefield fan uses teamwork". When my friends and I play BF3 or BF4, hell, even COD when we used to, we'd always be in constant communication giving callouts, updates and we would each be one specific class. Sure, if we were playing OP Metro, we wouldn't need an engineer, but we'd have 2 medics, a support and a recon with a PDW/Carbine to push up and place motion sensors and spawn beacons.

True, most randoms won't give a rip, but true fans of Battlefield will work together. That's what makes Battlefield, Battlefield.

^ Basically what I (currently) feel this game will be.

Battlefield 4 (or 3, whatever fits your boat) with Police & "Criminal" textures & a few renamed & slightly changed modes.
