Add Police Tape In LCPDFR

Featured Replies

Like Sharp stated, it isn't possible. Why you may ask? Because the capabilities for it are not present in the original GTA IV. I mean, the only thing I could of that could substitute for police tape is creating a new barrier model where it would just be a floating yellow bar that slightly ressembles tape and replacing that with a default barrier. Though, that's a long stretch and I'm sure it wouldn't be done by a modder.

We just have to work with what we have, in the meantime, try using barriers to corner off crime scenes.

It's certainly an interesting idea, but I don't think it would be possible.  The main problem would be getting the tape to extend to the width you required.  Essentially, all we would be able to do is use a model which is fixed in dimensions - I'm fairly certain you can't re-size objects in GTA IV in a fashion that would retain the quality of the texture.  E.g. as we increased the size of the object, the texture across it (like POLICE DO NOT CROSS), would also be re-sized with it, creating quite a nasty effect.

There'd also be problems with getting the tape to look like tape, instead of being a straight line, and this could be done by adding animation to the object, like the flags you see in the game, but I'm not sure how compatible animated objects are with being re-sized.
