How to avoid getting killed in traffic stop?

Just a qucik question.... traffic stops are great with v1.00...especially with a partner...

Situation... pull over car.... partner gets out and covers the driver at gunpoint... i walk on over to address the driver and he all over a sudden pulls a gun and starts shooting...

Thing is, the script has taken over by then and i cant moved, run, dive or anything... only after i push relevant keys will i be able to move...

The partner has since opened fire and killed the driver and I am dead too...

I guess there is no way to break the script or interupt it midway?

Any ideas anyone?

My partner has always been able to dispatch the driver when that happens to me, which is only three-four times.  I play "hardcore" mode, and I've been able to survive easily with my bullet proof vest and my partner, when I get ambushed...so far.

EDIT: I was just thinking how much more useful the partner is now with 1.0.  He has saved my butt more than once.

Hard core (in 1.0 at least) incorporates the 'Simple Ragdoll' option in trainer, and you take more of a hit when you get shot. Also, I believe the suspects run more and are harder to arrest. The bullet proof vest is not only in the station (where you can get the partner), but also on the second page in the Options menu in trainer. Hope that helped :)

Again, that's what I'm here for. Hahaha, use hardcore mode at your own risk, I've never used it before and I don't want to.

The bullet proof vest is also in the trunk of your cruiser, along with shotgun and ammo.

With Hardcore Mode, Sharp is right, you have to be very careful and don't just run into a scene blindly, you'll be dispatched quickly.  You get hit once, you're gonna be in trouble.  Hope you're partner is close by, he will save your azz.

Hmm, maybe a felony stop function would be nice in the future, especially with the built in ALPR to give more significant reasons for traffic stops.

In .95 I avoided using a partner because he'd end up shooting someone who ran from a traffic stop, or a driver that bumped into me. With the new AI scripting, I haven't run into that yet. 1.0 has taught me several times that a partner is a necessity.

In the normal mode I'd always take cover and take miss shoots call backup etc, i encourge the hardcore mode. When you get shot you ragdolize around but you can still take a lot of shots if you got armor and it's more intense.  Makes taking cover worth it compared to taking hits and not being moved.

Also I have never survived an ambush. Hell now I'm paranoid and when I see 3 guys in a car, I  call backup before I go to the window just in case lol, I imagine he'd eat more bullets that way if he shoots me, , hopefully saving me. But didn't get to test it so far as they have not shot at me while I did it.

The animation will play and you will be automatically equipped with armour, health, pistol, shotgun, and a baton I think. There's no selection, it's just automatically applied to your character.

Ah! Thanks for that... i was waiting for the vest to appear etc... so one i have gone into the boot (trunk) i can assume these things have been applied to my character...

Cheers again

Armor in GTA doesn't put a visible bulletproof vest on top of your clothes. Instead, if you look at your health circle in the lower right, both halves will be full (one half is health, the other is armor).

Also, in the lcpdfr.ini there is an option to add/remove weapons that you can get out of your trunk (boot).  I went in and added the M4, just for special occaisions.

I tried that, but it didn't work for me. It looked like:

VehicleTrunkWeapons=Shotgun_Baretta;M4

It won't give me a M4. Do I have to put Rifle_M4 or something?

Toward the back of the manual are the weapon names.  You have to use those names listed for the weapon in question.
