OK so I despereatly need a upgrade to my hole gaming rig. Its out of date! Here is what i have now, I have a Zotac motherboard that can only take DDR1 OR DDR2 RAM. I have a Gtx 550ti graphics card (which i dont need to upgrade on that end) I only have 3gbs of ram.

I have a Dual core prosessor.  I am running windows 8.1 32bit. and my gta is very laggy and im tired of it! FYI i took back my $300.00 new graphics card and decided to stick with my 550ti. Im pretty sure its my low ram thats making it so shitty! So i said to myself why dont i save these $300 and just overall upgrade my motherboard and ram? Isnt DDR2 outdated? I just would like the best suggestions and links so i can order the parts and be good to go! So $450 give me what ya got!

Try and get a decent mobo for around $100 if you can, make sure it will fit in all the USB's and the case and such. Regular ATX motherboards are good because they have lots of space to put things and move around inside if you are ever working on the case/computer.

New RAM will be good, possibly 2x4GB sticks or 2x3GB (or more). Corsair Vengeance or G.Skill series RAM is the best you can get from what I have heard, for around $80-$100.

Also, what processor do you have? Since you don't want to upgrade your card, you might be able to spend $200+ on an i7 processor, as long as your motherboard will fit it.

I am not trying to sound smart here. Please don't take it that way, I am just doing my best to help. If you have questions, please ask away.

Oh, by the way, you should put things like this in the Computers&Technology tab next time :P

I'm an AMD guy and would suggest these:

Motherboard

CPU

And the same RAM Sam linked.

Edit: Links didn't show.

Also, check other websites for cheaper prices first like tigerdirect.com and newegg.com.

sweet! Yeah so i just realized that the guy said he would charge me $110.00 service charge to install everything meaning the operating system and motherboard and everything else i would order.. that takes a huge hit to my budget:(... So let me ask yall would the average person be able to install all these things correctly and all? Think i could do it? It would save me $110.00 overall...

Ok and this is another question! For some odd reason, my gta 4 ran ALOT smoother with my windows xp?? Does windows 8 take a hit to the way my pc is able to run gta 4? does it use more resources?

Windows 8 does require more resources than XP, yes.

1.) Wrong section.

2.) Take the $450 and put it in the bank to earn interest so you can buy a better computer.

You could get a pretty good and cheap quad core processor, 8gb ram and a GTX 520 TI, the GTX 520 TI with a intel i5 3570K runs battle field on high @ 50-70 FPS, your fps will be around 35-60 on GTA IV with a amd quad core 8GB ram and the GTX 520Ti.
