EDITED IN June, 2014.

Hello everyone,

I don't know if there is still someone from this forum following our game, but I really wanted to tell you that we are officially back developing the game (about a month ago).

Our company closed a deal with a nice publisher and we are going to launch this year (release soon to be announced in our website).

I really wanted to thank you, everyone, that supported us in the past and I hope we can count with you again.

Check our website once more to see the news and we even has a recent new (pitch) gameplay video. But our current version (not in video) is MUCH better and we are going to have much more news in our website soon. I really wish I could have some of you guys, fans of police games, to support us.

And admins / moderators, please, keep up this great mod, the last version is great and I really enjoy playing it ;)

Cheers

Hello all,

Its been a long time since my last check here, I was real busy.

Today I want to announce here a game "for fun" I was creating, I got good feedbacks and now I want to finish this nice project. Its called Police Tactics, a game where you control a police officer life, including its duties while in blue/black and while off-duty.

EDIT: this project is now been developed by my game studio, Odin Game Studio.

It will be good to get feedback from a community that loves police related games and this is the perfect moment.

    Thanks Dark. We will have more news very soon, I just made a new post on our webpage and I really want to show you this ;)

So you'll release a playable build when? :)

This sounds really, really interesting actually and I for one want to see where it goes. I like the art style and I'm wondering if you'd considered a sandbox/free play mode aside from the main story, pick a time of day and just go

I remember you.

This has potential, keep it up.

Thanks, good to know the positive feedbacks already :)

@celticfang

The public alpha will be out very soon, I want to finish first the NPC system and put more buildings. The game will be for real a sandbox mode, the main story is builded by own player moves. For example, the game will save what players does (friends hangout, city birthday, etc) and while you progress in your career, more missions will be available. Its your choice to follow it or break it ;)

Check the youtube video to know what its look like.

For now, I am not targeting for graphics quality, well, you can imagine the size of a project like GTA... this is smaller, "simplier" but not less fun :) (I hope, lol)

I like this project! I wish you luck & everything. Well, sure it looks better by the police view that GTA IV unmodded :)

I will give this a try to when it comes out & if you'll need feedback/bugs hunt.

Again good luck!

If you want my attention, quote me.

Sounds interesting, nice job ! And Unity is a solid engine/framework, I hope you'll port this game on Linux as Unity is now available on this OS.

But, on a side note, I'm not sure that it's a good idea to use real-life cars, I mean yes that's cool, but maybe you'll have some problems as you don't pay a license to use brands & models.

Keep up the good work :)

And Darth:

He can use very similar looking cars as long as he doesn't use their logo and name for it. If he does, he has to get their permission and pay 'em :P

Yeah I know, but in video we can see "Hemi" branding and the "Dodge" logo, as an example.

It's why I said that in post above, but of course if models are not exact copies and are not branded, it's ok.

I am alone at this now (you can search my background in the links below) and I hope to get good feedbacks and maybe turn this into a bigger project. But the project already has good things finished and planed more already for this month.

Share your feedbacks :)

Hey guys, thanks for the feedbacks.

About the models:

I am aware of the brand/cars problemas, don't worry, that was just a test (there are people also complaining in the youtube about the Dodges engine sound, lol). In fact, we will not use any real cars, at max just similars (as @ninja35 said), I will take more actions about this in the public alpha and also in the next video. I will try my best to keep track on this post, but for quick news, heads up to my dev blog and IndieDB game page.

Cheers

You just made me your fan, sir. I love how the wheels stay in their original position after you exit the car. GTA lacks this feature in all of their games.

What do you use to create these games? Are there any type of vacancies available?

What do you use to create these games ?

He's using Unity3D, but I don't know if it's the free limited version or the paid one.

EDIT : looking at his video, it seems to be the free version, but maybe I'm wrong ^^

It's a good engine/framework for indie 3D devs, following the projects.

If you're interested, you can look at UDK or other tools too.

Okay thanks.

Just one more question for the OP- do you have any vacancies? Would love to be a part of this.

looks like we are going to have a good police game in the future

if your replying to me Please @0taku or Quote me so I get a notification

Will you be able to mod is like create your own vehicles and setup the lights for them and maybe be able to create your own maps and things like that

Unity itself does not offer an easy modding solution.  So if he wants to make modding possible he'll have to write custom modding tools to ensure the game will still function.  Excited to see where this goes and looking forward to showing off what I've been working on lately.  My project is way "younger" than this because I currently have no way of getting 3D models but I'm just trying to focus on getting some stable game systems written like traffic stops.

Hey all,

@Troy

Thanks, I am glad that you noticed this :) I really think this little details can make a diference.

And right now, sorry, but we dont. You can send your portfolio to us and previous work and experience here: contato@odingamestudio.com.br, we always like to know people that can work with us in the future.

@DarthWound

I am using Unity 4 PRO, I am a game developer professionally for more than 3 years, but main my jobs are advergames and mobile games. This is a new challenge, started as a hobby project (we do had a quote for this project months ago, but now its totally mine). Anyone interested, can know more about me here: http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=16354876

@00Stevo

I hope and I will try my best :)

@robocop @DevildrummerX

Devildrummer is right, robocop. Depending in what you doing, it is not an easy thing to make. Right now, no real modding like GTA has. But I am already making XML files for many NPCs and other features in the game, because I want players have the possibility to modify some aspects of the game. And, in the future, if the game become a good product, why not trying something more complex? :)

I am right now working in the NPC system, soon a new gameplay video.

Cheers

The traffic cone/pole physics are amazing.

I think I remember your earlier post when you were starting the project. It's very impressive what a small team (single person?) can do. It looks promising, I wish you all the best with it.
