celticfang got a reaction from drdetroit in GTA V PC Pre-orders Starting Tommorow!Nah you're too expensive
Jesse Cox is taking pre orders for $14.99 for PC GTAV
Comes with a free Terraria copy too and it's on iTunes
Nobody will get that reference surely....if you do you've probably watched ALL of his Terraria playthrough.
(Seriously though I won't believe anything until it's out, i've heard WAY too many rumors about it and it's being released today tomorrow, the 30th of Feb, the 32nd of August you get the picture)

celticfang got a reaction from c13 in 9-11-01 never forgetIt's been 12 years, yet the people I speak to in NY state and city on a regular basis have let it go, one's an EMT/FF in Rochester, he's accepted it happened and sees today as another work day, hanging a flag in the firehouse to remember but to keep working above all. Same for my friend living in the Bronx, her outlook on today is just treat it as yet another day and get on with life. NYC has healed and moved on, it's time for the rest of the US to stop hanging onto it and let it go. 9/11 is not a reason for the US to rip the Constitution to shreds or have drones in the streets and martial law in the cities.
Anyone remember that Ben Franklin quote about liberty and giving it up? It fits the post 9/11 world pretty well.
I absolutely, point blank hate 9/11 being used as a reason to drum up patriotism or used as a reason for a (completely bullshit) war, see OIF 2003 and the shitstorm that's entailed from it. Okay, you were attacked, you fought back, but quit holding onto it for a reason to pick a fight with people. One day the US will invade a nation and get defeated (likely by a Chinese-backed nation) and they'll run and hide.
9/11 happened. I'm not stating it didn't, It was an attack, but Spain got attacked, the UK got attacked in 2005 as well, it isn't just a US issue, it's a deeper religious issue that won't ever go away. In some ways the US is similar to the Muslim states it's at 'war' with. Iran has joined mosque and state, the US has some politicians who want church and state as one. As for your point on the military k-9, both the military and FR have their share of people who think they are gods and above reproach, it's not just one or the other, and to call it a 'war' is flat out ridiculous, so are you saying that the police and EMT and FF are at war with America? That's hard to grasp really.
Now, Americans were killed in 1941, that caused America to enter into WWII, Americans were killed in bombings and attacks pre-2001, Khobar Towers, WTC 1993, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Panama and so forth. Where's the memorials to those fallen Americans? Khobar got brushed over, Pearl Harbor's remembered as a history-twisting Hollywood butchering of history, the 1993 WTC bombing isn't a huge deal to people.
Oh and FR deaths aren't glossed over if you actually take the time to look them up and read something more than a local paper ya know. There was a lot of coverage of the 19 killed in Arizona, there's coverage of the Boxcar scandal that led to FR deaths due to insufficient aircraft (the exchanged C-130s were found to be later involved in drug smuggling in Mexico)
EDIT:
Read up on who funded AQ and their motives. Scary stuff.
Also, you want to compare WWII to 9/11?
No. You want to compare six years of bloody global struggle to one day? There were more Americans killed in the European and Pacific theaters than in 9//11, there were more Americans killed in the US than on 9/11, over six and a bit years. So, one day does not compare to 1939-1945, or 900AD-2013AD in terms of holy wars.
The so-called war on terror's been going on for roughly ten years in its current form and 9/11 has been in some quarters classed as an act of war. I partly agree as the Islamic jihad's been going on for thousands of years, right back to the 9th or 10th century with the Ottoman Empire and their conquests of Europe.

celticfang got a reaction from SteveMcGerrett in GFWL Shutting Down July 2014I got told different however, i.e. that you can be connected to the Internet, you can (for instance) play IV SP, but MP will be disabled as it uses GFWL for the whole MP segment of the game (like if you used xliveless or a loader that turns off MP).
Same with Ace Combat or Batman or whatever you want, credit to RPS for explaining it in the comments on their article about it.
Unlesss somebody steps up and pretty much makes an MP mod from scratch then GFWL being shut down will be like Gamespy all over again. Did I mention I'm bitter about that?
It's certainly a hot topic and honestly I'd side with a list of games that will lose functionality rather than GFWL suppor that reads from a script and repeats what their bosses tell them to say.

celticfang got a reaction from Bravuogn in Police Tactics - Real SimNow I do like that idea a lot.
The problem iwth IV/LCPDFR is that outside of cop work, there isn't a whole lot to do interactivity wise so....sort that and keep it interesting!

celticfang got a reaction from parsa in How can i change my character to a cop without going to the police station? It's Numpad 8, 4, 6 and 2 to navigate
Numpad 5 to select, Backspace or numpad 0 to go back.
F3 or F4 to open/close the menu

celticfang got a reaction from c13 in LCPD:FR Going To Recieve More Exposure? For now, but if somebody like Nanners or Hutch or (God forbid) Pewdiepie discovered LCPDFR and tells people how to get to it, I can quite easily see that their fanbases would come here and start yelling and screaming and demanding changes. That is one of my worst fears for this mod. The classic example is DayZ, there's people who only got ARMA II for DayZ, who want DayZ in Arma 3, who want it ported to every game going (not to mention carrying on a zombie craze).. I'd rather not have Pewdiepie singing this mod's praises and his million fans rushing here to DL and post 'ZOMG THIS MOD IS SO EPIC'. I kind of like it's a mature community really that knows its stuff and is building on top of GTA rather than trying to change GTA
The other one? Lawyers. Let's say the mod gets more popular, it'll attract attention both good and bad, all it takes is one lawyer to send a c&d letter to a modder (or you guys at G17 Media) and suddenly the floodgates are open. I know of a few police departments that are extremely protective of their stuff, designs, name and logo. I did a quick Google and found that there's been C&D orders before for other games, and a search for "grand theft auto" cease and desist shows this site as the fifth or sixth result. Which....isn't exactly ideal.

celticfang got a reaction from blakewilliams1 in What do you want to see more of in LCPDFR?Love the callout ideas, though I think the drunks ought to be random and not just around bars, is it possible to make one of them get in a car?
Thinking though that the gang warfare would be more NOoSE's area.
How about expanding on a few of the existing ones, maybe in the domestic call the suspect doesn't always give up when you point a gun at them, some males like that are full of adrenalin and bravado and figure they can take a cop, or may want to be killed by a cop.
Or, for the armed suspects, more than one car.
For the star suggestion I doubt that'd be added in honestly,

celticfang reacted to mcsim2401 in What do you want to see more of in LCPDFR?I have a suggestions for callouts. I've listed the police radio soundboards and i have a next suggestions:
1. Gang Warfare
Create 2 rival gangs (5-10 persons in one gang) that attacks each other. Weapons: from melee to machine guns.
Place: Random
Objective: Arrest/Neutralize
2. Illegal Street Race
It's like a multiple pursuit. Participants: 3-6 sportcar drivers. They drive fast.
Place: Random
Objective: Arrest
3. Drunken Brawl
Create a two-three drunk guys that shout each other.
Place: Bars
Objective: Arrest
4. Terrorist Activity
Create a guy with explosive weapons that kills civilians.
Place: Random
Objective: Neutralize
5. Burning Victim
Create a burning victim and not too far from it a suspect with molotovs.
Place: Random
Objective: Arrest/Neutralize
6. Nightclub Disturbance (TBoGT)
Create random troubled situation (like drunk fighting near nightclub or attempting any guy to attack security).
Place: Maisonette 9, Hercules
Objective: Arrest/Neutralize
7. Attempt to Prison Transport hijack (TLaD)
Create a bus with prisoners and random driver that flees.
Place: Random
Objective: Arrest suspect, Get Prisonb Transport to Nearest PD/Alderney State Correctional
8. V.I.P. Assosination Attempt in Progress (TLaD)
Create a column including limo and some VIP suited guy there and car following it and protect from some driveby guys that attempting to kill VIP person.
Place: Random
Objective: Don't let VIP guy be taken down, Neutralize suspects.
And one gameplay suggestion: Is it possible to make a star wanted level? Like one-two-three stars is default - some random units join to pursuit/callout, four-five-six stars - between units may be spawned FIB or NOoSE teams and also join to pursuit/callout. Or use an original GTA IV system (although making GTA IV system is bad because there all features need to be rewritten)

celticfang got a reaction from BernieMaMan in Beginniner...from scratch after I buy the GTA4 for pc, how do I play this game I'm new to Mods never done oneFirst off, install it, patch it up to 1.0.7.0, play through the opening mission, then make a save
Then, download and install the mod and install any missing things, you may have to restart.
Install the mod and pick ONE of the two ASI loaders.
Once that's done, go into IV (or EFLC), and load your save
Hit ALT+P.
Drive to a star icon on the map (or hit esc, set a waypoint then hit esc again to get back into the game and hit the ' key, and type teleport wp
Once in the station, walk to the far end (the door directly in front of you) to go on duty.
After that, go outside, pick a car, and patrol.
Hit shift+Tab to see the key list, and most importantly...HAVE FUN
Hope that helps

celticfang got a reaction from neuronightmare in Creating Vehicles TutorialIIRC you need a 3D modelling program (like 3DSMax) and an exporting tool for the model, then you need to do the physics from scratch.

-
celticfang got a reaction from Iconography in ElsI think it's a breath of fresh air for G17 to not go around breaking copyrights, most mod teams I've used have been lax about it, whereas G17? Not a whine about a ripped car or an illegal link anywhere. Thank you guys

celticfang got a reaction from gnat326 in Bugs/issues in 0.95 RC1For the first one I've had it occur anywhere, not just near buildings. I arrested somebody on the Alonquin bridge, invisible. (Incidentally, does the SNT visible/invisible toggle fix it anyone? it didn't for me)
