Boston Marathon explosions

I personally am surprised some photos got to be published/aired .Some are very gruesome and some pictures of people without inhuman limbs ,ie I saw one man missing two legs and maybe the fact of it being breaking news they mightn't of been as considerate but just wanted to get the news ,or images out soon as possible.

 • So first we have someone saying they don't care people got hurt, and now someone who's about to invoke a discussion about government conspiracies? For the love of Christ, can you people just get lost

There you got a point... But yeah, maybe not smart of me to say it! :P

But i still think its a alone guy that is crazy. I hope that they can catch him, And 1000 years in prison! (rest of his life).

1 day in 1 week a torture! To let see what they doing!

No. Just no. Torture is never OK for any reason. (before someone brings up interrogation: besides the fact that torture probably doesn't work, there are some things that you Do. Not. Do. no matter HOW effective they would be.)

A post containing links to photos showing victims of the bombs have been removed, please do not post links or images of the victims partlty due to respect of the victims and the fact that they are likely to contain content that violates the community guidelines.

I am sorry!!!Thanks for removing it!!!

I disagree. Imagine the 9/11 attackers weren't on te plane but someone orchestrated the deaths of 3 motherfucking thousand people? Can torture them then? Like if it was a bombs at major support points in the towers.

I agree, I find it disrespectful to the victim and it's most likely just got something to do with ratings.

In terms of disaster, I believe it was most likely some lone moron who was perhaps trying to get a political view across, I don't think that religion or anything was the reason. I find it rather sickening how people can do this to one another. I heard nails and other sharp objects were used in the bomb so it was home-grown.

Prayers go out to anyone effected,

RIP to the 3 humans killed.

No, you can't torture them because there is a law against cruel and inhumane punishment in your country, specifically the 8th Amendment to the United States Constitution that forbids cruel and unusual punishment.  You might as well take away the 1st, the 2nd, the 3rd, the 4th, 5th, the 6th and the 7th if you're going to take away the 8th.

What Sam said. We are learning about the amendment and stuff like that in civics at the moment

I don't want to piss everyone off here...

But what large government agency actually gives a shit about that stuff. If they want to torture someone they're going to. Just because its against the law doesn't mean they won't torture the shit out of a terrorist, domestic or foriegn.

Veni vidi vici

No. The reason you can't torture them isn't because of a law. It's because torture falls outside the realm of what civilized societies do. You don't torture because you don't torture. That would be true even without a law (IIRC, Britain had no Bill of Rights equivalent before the EU, and yet torture was still outside the realm of what the government was allowed to do).

Yes we can torture them.... All well devolved countries that have laws against torturing have a way around it. Such as the US, Canada, and the UK have sent people to counties like Egypt to have them tortured. They have laws against doing it in the United States but there is no law saying they can't be exported to be tortured to get answers. This method actually stopped a big plotted terrorist attack in New York a few years after 9/11. But once again would suck if you really didn't know anything. But they only do it to people they know who were involved.

But think of it this way, there is a nuclear bomb in Chicago and this one guys knows where the bomb is, but he isnt talking. What option would you do?

1.) Say ok, its in your rights you don't have to talk to us. Have a Great Day!!

2.) Beat the !@#$ out of him and torture him tell you get a answer with the nuclear bomb is and save millions of lifes?

or

3.) Do nothing at all, and just leave the city before the bomb blows up. Screw all those people....

4) Torture doesn't work. Many terrorists are willing to DIE for their beliefs. What makes you think ANYTHING will get them to tell you?

Also: Radiation scanning.

5) Build a sci-fi system to let a critically wounded soldier live someone else's life for 8 minutes, and task him with finding out who blew up the Metra train, leading you to find the guy with a bomb. (movie: Source Code. It's not a very good movie.)

Torture does indeed work, the only reason terrorist fight is because, they are high on drugs when they attack (well most are) they did a study and found most terrorist had drugs in there system when they were shooting at troops.) Also i'm pretty sure they would also have every singal police officer in the entire city looking for the bomb.......  Even if he didnt give up the answer you still tried and just didn't give up as easy, also have you ever been to Chicago? Its the 3rd largest city in the United states so lets not be silly here....

Where do you think we get most of are info about terrorism do you think they google it and find it off the internet? No sir. We get most of our info from Guantanamo Bay, they will integrate the terrorist there, and they do get answers. How do you think we found Osama Bin Laden, yes we did use UAVS and what not, but with out the info we got from Guantanamo bay we would of looked right over his house......

Torture is a debatable subject. I think it has proved helpful when the U.S. has conducted it (see waterboarding) as it has led to many arrests & captures, as has loud music. While they're not defined as torture underneath the Geneva convention, it has all the aspects of torture considering what it does to any inmates.

Long story short, the U.S. had Guantanamo Bay set up where it is for a reason. Taking a terrorist to U.S. soil gives him many of the same rights a U.S. citizen would have. By keeping them out of the country we are able to exploit some of the legal loopholes to get information. I agree that some terrorists may just tell you what they want to hear, meaning the information is false, but we've gained a lot of intel using some of the methods we have. Including Osama Bin Laden's location. We captured some of the information leading up to the Bin Laden raid that from a convoy driver of his. We supposedly used loud music against him for a short period of time, and interrogation psychology that made him think he was more important to his cause than he actually was.

cp702 is right to an extent, that many of the men we capture are willing to die for their country. However they planned on dying by pressing a button and going up in a fiery explosion, killing them in an instant. Not by rotting in a cell indefinitely and being subject to interrogation, sensory deprivation, sensory overload and other methods which may or may not be considered torture by some people. More of these guys crack than you'd expect. Nothing in their little desert training camps can prepare them for the interment camps we have.

Terrorists get beaten and tortured in Afghanistan by American soldiers (can't blame them)

If I had it my way I'd hand the person(s) that were responsible for this horrid crime to the victims, then what happens from there I don't have control over, or maybe a bit more correct would be just to vote as to what happens to the person(s) responsible and leave the guys fate in the victims / public hands.

Come to think of it thought,  isn't prison torture? Raped, held against your will, attacked, no choice, laboured....

The Geneva convention allows for detaining of prisoners depending on the sentence in concordance with the country's respectable laws. So by NATO standards, no that isn't torture. And the guards don't rape or attack prisoners in the U.S. nor do they force labor. What the other inmates do is up to them. Prison guards try to minimize this as much as possible, but things will inevitably happen since we can't staff one guard for every single inmate. Inmates are normally in their cells for 22 hours, with one hour allowed for recreational time and another for lunch for some inmates depending on the security level of the prison. In medium or minimum security prisons, the inmates can volunteer to take up a job. It can lower their prison sentence if they behave themselves and become productive. It's a good way to keep out of trouble.

buddy torture is never ok regardless the situation what if someone innocent was being implicated in a crime they didn't commit you wouldn't want to torture an innocent civilian would you? you need to take a long good look at history and study it before making idiotic statements like that...something schools are not doing a good job at these days

I didn't mean the guards rape the inmates (although it has happened). I just meant that it does go on in prison.
