SirenSetting Limit Adjuster 2.0.3

(15 reviews)
Message added by SuperPyroManiac,

As of update v3788 it is known to cause issues. We do not know when or if this will be updated.
There is currently another developer testing an updated version on their Discord: https://discord.gg/VMvvuFxArY

We do not validate files off platform, visit the Discord at your own discretion.

This mod raises various siren limits in GTA V.

The per-vehicle siren limit is raised from 20 to 32. Vehicles can now have siren1 through siren32, which are all fully functioning and independent. The siren_glass limit is also raised to 32. Note that the limit of 128 total bones on a vehicle still exists.

The maximum value of a siren setting ID in carcols is raised to 65535. In the base game, siren settings can conflict if one of them has a value over 255. Now, siren setting IDs can go up to 65535 without conflicting with each other.

This mod also expands the maximum number of unique siren settings you can have. If you have 400 cars, and they all have unique light patterns, that'll work.

Installation

Copy the included ASI to your game folder.

Usage

For additional lights, just use siren21 through siren32 and add extra entries to the siren settings in carcols.meta. Again, note that there is still a limit of 128 total bones on a single vehicle.

For the increased ID limit, just use a number bigger than "255" as the ID. The values 0, 255, and 65535 are reserved, so don't use those specific values. No additional configuration is required.

RPH Users

SSLA does not require RAGEPluginHook, but it is compatible with it. However, it is ONLY compatible with the latest version! RPH version 1.98 has a compatibility patch that will play nicely with SSLA v2. The latest RPH version can be found bundled with LSPDFR, or on the RAGEPluginHook Discord server.

If you had RAGEPluginHook and SSLA v1, you may have had a compatibility DLL in your Plugins folder. This DLL is no longer required and should be removed. RPH now talks directly to SSLA.

RPH plugins that deal with emergency lighting will continue to function, but may need to be updated to support lights 21 through 32.

FiveM Users

SSLA v2 is compatible with FiveM. The server owner must enable ASIs in server.cfg with sv_scripthookallowed true, and Each user must copy the ASI into the plugins folder in their FiveM Application Data. No changes are required to the server config.

RPH Developers

In RPH version 1.98 and up, the Lights member of an EmergencyLighting will be length EmergencyLighting.MaxLights (a static class property) instead of necessarily being length 20. They will still all have the same length, it's just that that length will be longer than 20 if SSLA is installed.

Logging

This ASI produces a SirenSettings.log file in your game directory. It records:

  • Every loaded SirenSetting, its name, its ID, and its internal index;
  • Every loaded vehicle, its name, its siren ID, and the index it was matched to;
  • Any conflicts, where two SirenSetting entries have the same ID.

Is there a way to notify the author to get this to cooperate with the new update of GTA? Or just wait till GTA re-update and hope for the best.

5 people are trying to update this. Might as well wait for this to update.

An update for everyone, a Dev by the name of Chiheb Bacha has created a test build for the latest version. Once he has an almost bug free build he will release it publicly (likely on his gta5mods account).

For those interested in helping with getting this updated, you can help with a BETA build of the update here. This message was released on a creators discord server. Might be one of the handful of people trying to update it. Maybe some of the other people can get with him and collaborate.

"We know yall are waiting for an update to SSLA.

Unfortunately, due to the complexity of the mod, patching the mod has been hard.

However, we have a person that has taken the time to figure out how to update the mod but he needs your help in testing it.

Be sure to read the known issues. Please report any bugs! Also, please make sure to inform the dev if the build works and maybe give a “thanks” for the good work!"

Can anyone give another link because the ones sent in dont work

To those asking, the author has already been notified of the issue with the latest update, however there is no eta from him on when he will be able to update.

For those attempting to update it themselves, I would strongly encourage you to submit a pull request on GitHub which would likely make it much easier for cp702 to update it. Also, it should be noted his license does not allow for redistribution as it solely states "Please link to an official upload instead of redistributing this yourself."

I'm not saying this to prevent you from testing your own version privately, but unfortunately, without cp702's approval, any uploads of the file to our site will be removed.

In case someone makes a (non-backwards-compatible) fix via a GitHub fork, couldn't, at least with this someone's approval, the fix be added as a version on this site (''official upload''), by staff or by the someone themselves?

I think the most appropriate thing in that case may be to post a link to the fork (similar to how we have a link to ScriptHookV), but we would need to discuss internally.

@Will I thought It would be appropriate to create an account and join the conversation.

I have successfully updated SSLA since the 26th of April, and posted the updated ASI on my discord (the link already pinned to this conversation) in #test-builds for people to test. So far, over 1100 people have done that and no issues were reported.

I have already forked the repository and pushed the changes, but the binary is currently only in my discord, as I still need to get things sorted out for a public release.

Another thing that delays any public release is the licensing issue you brought up. Although I am certain cpast is referring to the redistribution of the binary and not any work based on the source code, It would of course be better to get his approval first. From what I can see, cpast just wanted to get the mod out there and didn't care too much about licensing and stuff, evidenced by the usage of code from EasyHook in his HookingLib without any licensing. But I understand you as Management would care more about that.

What I could do, Is rewrite the whole script by "learning" from what cpast has written, and that would make of it an original script (the patch can't be deemed original, given that it's constrained by the disassembly of the game. For example what I had to do to update it made the part I changed completely different from what cpast has done, although the idea remains the same), then of course give attribution to cpast, given that he made the original script through research and all. But if, even then, you're still uncomfortable with hosting, you could still link to my discord, and I'll keep it there (It's currently in #test-builds as you know, but once I add pre-3788 compatibility back, and eventually Enhanced support, I'll move it to another channel).

I also plan on porting SSLA to Enhanced, as many people asked for it, which I don't think cpast has any plans for. That being said, If I can get cpast's approval to simply continue using his code as-is and build on top of it, then great, saves me time. If not, then I'll rewrite it as I said.

Have a great day :)
