A Westlake County Supervisor Tahoe parked in front of the sunset, brandishing the 'new' Westlake County Police Decals. Not much has changed from the previous decals, except for a color of one stripe, which is now reflective silver, and some minor text edits. Westlake County Police hope residents find it easier to read, and the decals more diverse in color. -
Westlake DUI Stop
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
A Westlake Patrolman stopped a vehicle after he noticed the vehicle was swerving in and out of its lane. Upon confronting the driver, the Patrolman got a strong scent of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The Patrolman asked for a Traffic Unit to respond, which you can see pulling up to the scene in this image. After a field sobriety examination, the Traffic Patrolman determined the blood alcohol level of the male driver was 0.102. The legal limit in Westlake County is 0.05. The driver was charged with reckless driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol. -
Woman Performs Traffic Violation to get Stopped by Police Intentionally
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
An interesting morning stop for Silverlake Police, after a woman spotted a police car at a red light, and sped through the light to catch the officers attention. The officer spotted the infraction and immediately stopped the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer found out that she did the action intentionally because her passenger was yelling at her and making threats. The officer asked for assistance from another unit, and the male passenger was pulled from the vehicle. Upon further investigation it was found that the two occupants had a previous argument and led to built-up anger, which resulted in this incident. No charges were pressed but the two individuals have been separated and placed on a temporary two-day no contact order to work out their personal differences and come to a conclusion on how to solve the issue(s). Police do not recommend performing traffic violations to get the attention of police, but rather to call the non-emergent number and allow them to respond to the incident. -

Silverlake Traffic Stop
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
A Silverlake Motorist made a complaint to Silverlake Police after they witnessed a silver sedan driving erratically and speeding through traffic. Officers from Silverlake Central District caught up to the driver just before they crossed into Silverlake East District. The motorist was charged with speeding, reckless driving, and distracted driving. It was determined that the motorist was going to be late for a flight, and the motorist became aggravated with police during the stop. The motorist missed his flight due to the stop. Officers from Silverlake Police remind motorists that there is not an excuse for speeding, even if you're late for a flight, and speeding will not get you there any faster, especially when you're caught. -
Domestic Incident in Westlake County
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
Westlake County Police rushed to a home in Westlake County after a frantic 911 call made by a female. The situation was unclear to the dispatchers and was placed as a priority call. Upon arrival, Police found a male and female physically fighting outside the residence, and yelling loudly. The female had her cellphone in her hand, still on the line to 911 operators. Police took one male into custody without incident and that individual has been charged with assault, and domestic violence. The female has since been taken to a shelter and a no-contact order has been issued on both parties until further notice. Luckily, nobody was seriously injured and nobody had to be taken to hospital. -
Semi versus Car in Westlake County
Well being located next to large bodies of water and having temperatures that fall below zero degrees Celsius doesn't exactly help the case ;) Thanks for the comment!

Semi versus Car in Westlake County
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
Silverlake Police and Fire Services have been called to assist in a Semi versus Car collision that occurred just on the border of Westlake County and Silverlake City, however the collision still occurred in Westlake County. Due to the heavy rain, roads have been very slippery and is likely a factor in this crash. No details have been confirmed yet and media is still awaiting an update from police, but witnesses say that the sedan was travelling Westbound into Westlake County, when it suddenly lost control and swerved into the Eastbound lanes, colliding with the semi. There's no word on injuries at this time, but it's believed at least one person is dead after the incident. Silverlake Police have been called to investigate the collision and remain on scene. All but one Westbound lane has been closed due to the collision, and all Eastbound traffic has been detoured as a result of the collision. In this image you can see a wide view of the collision, and a Silverlake Officer and Westlake Patrolman monitoring the barricades blocking the incident. -

Another Fatal Accident in Silverlake
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
Another fatality in Silverlake this evening, after a pedestrian stepped onto a major highway and was struck by a car. This is the second fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision this year, and also the fifth fatal event in Silverlake in 2015. Westlake PD has been called in to perform an investigation around the incident. "We're not entirely sure the intentions of the individual who stepped into the highway. Whether it was a suicide attempt or a simple accident, it's completely unclear. We also haven't determined if alcohol is a factor in either parties, but we have concluded that speed is not a factor in this collision." said Collision Reconstruction Patrolman Jon Kastro in a statement. Police are not releasing the name of the deceased until family has been notified. -
Westlake Slicktop/Unmarked Cruisers
Not really, most people would already be aware that they are unmarked as the stripes show up. That and the fact they're CVPI's with antennas and police equipment kind of gives it away also. Even then, pictures of the cars would end up posted by citizens anyways. I would consider it useless if the vehicles were being used as a drug enforcement role, which neither of these vehicles are intended for.

Yes. I made some London Police stealth textures for someone and decided to take part of the scheme and turn it in to this fictional service.

Westlake Slicktop/Unmarked Cruisers
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
As part of the Public Education program launched in partnership between Silverlake Police and Westlake Police, Westlake Police have posed all four of their unmarked/slicktop vehicles and provided the photos to Silverlake Police. With the program, it hopes to prevent confusion between the two agencies as Silverlake Police can be called to operate in Westlake, and Westlake Police can be called to assist in Silverlake. Pictured here, are two of the four police cruisers that are utilized most when operating in Silverlake. On the far left is a traffic unit, painted grey, with "stealth" stripes. They are hardly visible unless illuminated by a light source. On the right of the other vehicle is an Investigations Unit, painted white with stealth stripes. Each vehicle is clearly marked with Westlake Police logos and their respective unit (Supervisor, Investigations or Traffic). -

Westlake Police Stealth Unit
From the album: Silverlake/Westlake County Snapshots
One of Silverlakes Police Officers went on a ridealong with Westlake Police this past Friday, and took a few images. This image is one of many he took, and is of a Westlake Traffic Unit on a traffic stop in a "Stealth Unit". "The stripes were very hard to see, until you shined a light on them" said the Silverlake Officer. "It was rather interesting, and it's something we don't see in Silverlake" Silverlake does not utilize unmarked vehicles, except for the Advanced Weapons and Response Unit (A.W.R.U., equivalent of SWAT), and hasn't since the foundation of the service. The officer went on the ridealong to see some of the tactics and methods the Westlake Police used, and compared them to the Silverlake Police tactics. "There were many differences, as I expected. They have very interesting ways of tackling many of the same issues we face in Silverlake, such as speeding and drugs" Silverlake Police is reflecting on the information obtained and is working with Westlake Police to determine better methods of policing our communities in both agencies. -
