Discussion: Microsoft effectively hands the sales market to Sony
It really isn't smart of them, especially taking into consideration the major news about the massive blanket surveillance on US citizens by the intelligence agencies, the Xbox One is effectively not a viable option for many people now. It will be very interesting to see if Sony will learn from this, they have stayed pretty quiet since their conference regarding the PS4, giving them time to analyse the markets response to both their product and the Xbox One.

TNT haven't renewed it for a sixth season, there's been some rumours that NBC is considering a double episode special to wrap up the loose ends after the series finale, it's still a unconfirmed rumour though, it has about as much validity as Fox News has on politics.

Riots, oh god the riots..... My record so far is 3 riots a day, my prison looked like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puiAD69B5v4 I haven't tried any mods for PA, the base game itself is still enough of a challenge as they essentially rewrite core mechanics every month. I recorded a couple of PA videos this weekend which will be up over the few weeks, I'm not sure there's any riots involved though. The new anger system is really nice, it somehow manages to add a nice atmosphere after a riot, I'm anticipating another big fight. There is a couple of balance issues in this build, riots breed riots as people are angry, they riot instead of getting their needs met, then you put the prison in bangup, forcing the obedient prisoners to go back to their cells and keep them locked away. The riot coppers roll in and Rodney King it up, leaving many people for the paramedics to treat and then they need to go to solitary. The inmates can't actually take care of the needs they had in the first place, it only gets worse as they are isolated in solitary, they come out and try to resolve a need but they end up in another fight and it repeats. Not mentioning that the guards aren't thinking, our manual orders should override any action they are doing, at the very least we need a way to evacuate normal guards from a group of rioting inmates. I have lost way, way too many guards because they were fighting 10 rioting inmates, thank god for auto save and save file editing....

Every GTA IV error code and what it means.
I can't see how this will help anybody as you are not actually explaining why the error message is happening and how they can fix the error. This is a list of error messages that the user will already have seen, it doesn't present them with any usable information. A good example is RC20, it typically happens on a broken car modification, the easy fix is to replace the car mod you just installed with a working mod a backup of the original car, it would be a waste of time to reinstall the game.

A save progress option
There's no real need for a save progress feature because there's no story/character progression in LCPDFR.

Officer Down Movie
It looks likes another generic cop film with one scene of tits in it (shown a massive three or four times during the trailer). It doesn't look like it's grounded in any form of reality, it's just another generic action film with absolutely no known people shown in the name list. Unfortunately it looks like the stripper scene is the most interesting part of the film. I wish we'd see more films like End of Watch it's one of the few cop films I have watched without really noticing any authenticity errors, they used the right cars with the correct equipment mounted (Arjent + SS2000), they did take some creative freedom in it although they always maintained a real feel to it, Officer Down is a film about guns, tits and explosions, I'll pass. It's always difficult for me to actually care for the people in films because it's fictional, but End of Watch was actually pretty compelling.

NB's Mega car pack vol. 1
Two of the models RC20 if I add a rambar to them, I'd have to redo the models from scratch if I were to add rambars to them.

Prison Architect
I usually give myself a nice handy bunch of money when I start out because I could never seem to get a prison working without running bankrupt, but the workshops pretty much eliminates the need for it once I have them in. It does help that my prisons are usually something reminiscent of a North Korean work camp with the inmates getting eight hours of sleep, eat twice a day, shower once a day and have one hour of free time a day, the rest of the time is spent making those lovely numberplates.

Gay Marriage
The debate so far has been pretty civil, obviously there's people of different beliefs on here so our opinions will vary. I personally can't see why this thread is inappropriate for LCPDFR.com as long as our members stay respectful towards each other, you're not being discriminated against if another user has an opinion that differs from your own. Where should we draw the line if this is not "lcpdfr.com" material, can we no longer allow members to discuss current events, should we remove the random section altogether and only focus on GTA modding. We shouldn't, this is a part of the community on here, we long ago surpassed what LCPDFR.com used to be, it used to be a place where LCPDFR the mod was discussed, now it's the premier GTA IV Emergency modding site. So far I have only seen one post which as been made to start a flame war, you can all take the bait or continue on with the discussion as it was.

PA is a lot of fun, but I don't feel as if the 30 dollar price tag is justified, yet. It's getting close though. I bought it because I like playing a game that is constantly evolving, it's nice to get new tools to play around with once a month. I have put in 50 hours into the game on the Steam copy and probably another 50 hours on the non-steam copy I had before the game was added to Steam. It's a challenge to begin with, there's next to no tutorial so you have to guess your way though some of it, it's a lot of fun though. Be prepared to fail and for the game to bug out as it's still in alpha. My prisoners seem to "fight" a lot in the showers and in the canteen. Generally parts of the prison where they're packed close to other inmates. I thoroughly enjoyed the addition of workshops in Alpha 9, the cleaning cupboard and laundry room certainly need some tweaking and bug fixing- I'd recommend the game for people who like tycoon/sim city type games as it is genuinely fun.

LCPDFR ON XBOX! NO JOKE!!
As Harper said, keep in mind that using mods on the Xbox is in violation of the Terms of Service, Microsoft may ban your account if you use mods on the Xbox. It's also blatant plagiarism of LCPDFR, we're not going to provide any publicity for this mod whatsoever as a result, it is not created, endorsed or supported by LCPDFR.com or G17. So please refrain from linking to it or helping people find it as it is in violation of the Community Guidelines.

Gay Marriage
The issue is relevant in many western countries, it certainly comes up at least once a year here in Denmark with priests both supporting and fighting against gay marriage in the Church of Denmark. It's not a debate that is restricted to the US alone so the debate on here will reflect that the situations are different and there may be other options. I believe that every part of the bible shouldn't be taken literally, I read it ten or so years ago though so my memory may be spotty on exactly what it says. Jesus accepted everyone, he healed the ill and fed the poor. He parted the sea and walked though the desert. We as humans are very much like Jesus, we can heal the poor in hospitals, we can feed the poor though welfare and we can part waters by building bridges or tunnels or even by flying or sailing, we can also be tolerant and accepting of other people. Taking a book written centuries ago is not going to work in modern society as we're vastly different than we were back then, a lot of people criticise Islam for taking the Quran too literal so Christians shouldn't take the Bible too literal. To me there's no difference between radical Muslims and radical Christians, both are extremists and they are not what everyone of that religion believes is right. I'm indifferent when it comes to religion, I do not need it in my life so I choose to not partake in any specific religion. However I have no issue with religion as a concept or any specific religions.

Gay Marriage
I don't know if it's possible the the US, but here a couple can enter a civil partnership/union which gives them the same legal rights and entitlements as a married couple, gays are included in this.
-
Gay Marriage
I think it's up to the church to decide whether or not they believe that homosexuals can be married, this goes not just for the Christian church, but any religion. The church is a religious place and it's not up for the government to force anything upon them that they do not wish to do, getting married in a church should mean that you are doing so as a result of your religious beliefs and not because it looks nice. It's fine if the church believes that marriage is between a man and a woman, I see nothing wrong with the church acting based on its beliefs. I can't see any logical reason for why homosexuals can't have the same rights as a heterosexual couple though civil partnership, it makes no sense that their genders define if they are a couple, their love for each other defines if they are a couple.

That is NOT LCPDFR or any project associated with G17, the creators of that mod is using the LCPDFR to promote their own product.

The road ahead: 2013 and beyond (LCPDFR, ELS.Net and more)
LCPDR is constantly evolving, new stuff is tried, the good stays and old stuff is removed, I can't see a problem with that. I know the developers are hard at work on it, it will never be perfect for everybody, we won't all enjoy it as much as the next guy will, but at least now it's possible for us to extend the experience with other mods such as Braveharts Policing Script. Why should LCPDFR incorporate features that isn't what envisioned for LCPDFR when it's already available elsewhere? I know that Sam wants LCPDFR to be focused around everyday policing, nobody certainly wants LCPDFR to go go in the way the Police Pursuit Mod did, PPM went over the top and had massive shootouts and crazy stuff happening. The developers will always try and stay as true to the core values in LCPDFR as possible, I can't see it as important when it's possible to add more outlandish calls by using other mods, LCPDFR is no longer the one-stop solution it used to be as people are now combining it with ELS, Bravehearts policing script, Abraxas' scripts and what else you can all find. Why complain that LCPDFR isn't going the way you want it to go when you can easily turn it into what you want?

XBOX One vs PS4
The Xbox WILL play games, it's not like gaming is something they have completely forgot, Microsoft said that the conference they held was to show off the console and its additional futures, they'll talk about the games at E3, including the fifteen exclusive titles being released in the first year. It's funny to watch everybody get their panties stuck in a wedge because apparently the Xbox won't play games. There's absolutely no reason to be upset or count negatively towards the Xbox based on the conference they held. All the additional features are additional, you don't have to use Hulu (whatever that is), HBO, Netflix and Skype if you don't want to, you don't have to use your Xbox if you don't want to. Compare Microsofts conference to that of Apple announcing a new iPhone, would you be upset if they only talked about how great it is for browsing the web or how the screen is much better to use, they wouldn't talk about how they improved the microphone or speaker or how it's otherwise better to use as a phone. The only thing Microsoft might make mandatory (which is still uncertain) is the use of Kinect, all I want from that is being able to turn off the voice stuff because it's silly. The Kinect device itself will be right behind the console itself if I get one.

XBOX One vs PS4
The problem right now is that Sony's press conference was very much focused on what games would be out, they didn't go in-depth about the features it will have, nor did they show us the actual console. Whereas Microsoft's press conference was centred on the console and the features it will have. It's very difficult to make a decision based on this. However I will say that Microsoft appears to be targeting the US audience with the new box, most of the features (apart from Skype) will be unavailable or severely limited outside of the US, UNLESS Microsoft substitutes some features for some that are accessible and relevant in their country, netflix doesn't really have a market outside of the US due to the extremely limited catalog, Danes have been warned by the consumer board from subscribing to HBO Go as their licensing terms are against our legislation. The Microsoft conference didn't tell us much about the games, other than reveal the least surprising game ever, Forza 5 (With RML commentary?), some odd Remedy exclusive and some CoD stuff, nothing ground-breaking. It's intentional as Microsoft stated that they will talk in depth about games for the Xbox One at E3. This seems fine to me. As far as I have heard, the Xbox One will require you to connect to the internet at least once a day, that may be troublesome for some people, I myself am very apprehensive about this. Another issue for some people is the uncertainty surrounding second hand games, I personally don't give a toss about it because I would never buy a pre-owned game, it doesn't matter to me. I honestly don't care much for Sony, they have a proven track record of being bad at keeping their user information safely stored, I'm sure they were also hacked back some time around 2009, regardless a lack of security so bad that the private data (credit card info) of 77 million customers was accessed by hackers, Sony also supported SOPA back in the day.
