No it is an alternative to using a PIT manuever or waiting for the vehicle to crash to stop a pursuit.

Listen to ^this guy because he knows what he is saying. My sarcastic answer was because there was no other information even hinting that you tried a google/youtube search to see if something like that was even out there.

It is one of those ideas that is great in theory. Nothing beats the good ol' PIT. Granted each police department has a variety of equipment and I wouldn't be suprised if some departments have a car equipped with this but in the end it isn't something practical. Now for a mod in game...idk how that would be implemented.

A police officer has the right to detain you long enough to see whether probable cause exists for an arrest. Detain: A detention is a legal term that is something less than an arrest. A police officer can detain you to conduct an investigation to see whether further criminal activity is afoot. So an officer may stop you for any reason he/she wants but cannot do anything further if they don't have PC. The number one thing to ask an officer is "Am I being detained?" "Am I free to go?". If you get a yes to the first question you must stay if you get a no to the second question you are being detained and must stay. Either way officers are there to help you and are not going to bother you with small issues or stop you for no reason at all.

Cannot wait until Xbox games start using Kinects power to do so many incredible things. TrackIR is a cool concept for PC and the thought of being able to do it on my FPS for xbox would be unfreakinbelievable!!!

How hard is this? Go to your options in game and switch the HORN key which is default "G" to something else. This way ELS sirens are "G" and the GTAIV Horn/siren is another key. You must hold down the GTAIV horn/siren button to hear the air horn. You cannot turn it on like a siren. I use "G" for ELS sirens (AI doesn't pull over for ELS siren) when I just want to zip by traffic without them crashing into everything or moving into my path. I use the GTAIV siren key for when I am zipping down a highway and need traffic to move!

I tried using that method and it did work. However, I had some random crashing that I never had before. Removed the duplicates and no more crashing. Guess it works for some and doesn't for others.

This pretty much sums it up. United States has 50 states, each with numerous counties (state divided up into sections), each with even more cities. The state police cover mostly highway patrol duties, the sheriff deputies cover county wide issues and cities that aren't large enough to have their own police force, and standard city police cover everything in their own city.

Normally the one that flees will shoot people to steal their vehicles or break into random vehicles to try and get away. Depending how fast you are you can catch them right away and they never get away but what is the fun in that right???

^^^This, police officers use that phrase amongst other to gain compliance without making it seem like they are forcing you to do it. Now if you were to reject and not do the officer a favor they might make you anyway.

For anyone considering law enforcement a police ride along is a must. TV shows and video games aren't "close" enough for you to get a good understanding. Plan on going on a few more ride alongs!

Hello everyone, I thought I would share my experience with a police ride along in central WI. I rode with an officer from 6:30p-11pm. We had several traffic stops mostly for speed but a couple were random running plates and having stuff come back. We also assisted in a traffic stop where a k-9 hit on a vehicle causing a search turning up marijuana. A lot of the time was patrolling, running random plates, and sitting watching for speed violations. I am convinced this is the career path for me. I was convinced before that but even with the slow sometimes nothing to do patrolling I was still having fun and enjoying myself. I will be going back out again sometime and am applying for the auxillary volunteer force that helps with large events and transporting people to the jail in a larger city nearby. I couldn't thank the officer enough. He was asking me questions, answering my questions, and overall made me feel at ease in a way that didn't make feel I was bothering him. What a great experience!

I don't use any lights or sirens. I hold a flashlight out the window and yell "whoo-whoo" really loud.

Here is a question for you. I have since used other ELS cars in my noose slots and they do cause crashes. If I disabled AI ELS what will happen? Will those AI cars drive with sirens but no lights?

No one is making any sense. If you are using default cars from GTA you use / to toggle the lighting modes when the lights on your car are on. If you have the light mod called ELS you must have ELS modded cars and the controls for ELS are j,k,l. Just jump on the google train and learn.

You should make your posts more clear. ELS controls can be found in the els configuration file. LCPDFR controls can be found in the downloads section or in game with a button combination that I cannot remember. ELS - J K L (alt+M -menu) U I O LCPDFR - /

I agree and understand everything in this post. Wish other people would understand this but unfortunately with anything specific the general public knows absolutely nothing.

ATTENTION! Laws in every state vary from what you can do or can't do. What it comes down to is if you are in fear for your life or the lives of others you are justified in stopping that threat up to and including deadly force. I always see youtube videos of police involved shootings with people bashing the cop and say how unjustified they were. The reality of it all is that person obviously was scared or in fear of something to use a weapon to stop it. People have days, weeks, months, years, and forever to pick at all the details in the video while the person using a weapon in self defense has only mere seconds to make a decision. I have never seen a video where I thought "OMG that officer basically murdered someone!!!!". The video the OP had I feel the officer was justified. The suspect had a weapon, was told multiple times off camera to cease his actions, and more on camera. Then he proceeded to threaten the officer who had the tazer. His partner who feared for his life fired at the suspect dropping him on the spot. Yes he had a dog he could have let go of but if the suspect would have attacked full on he could have seriously hurt the officer before even feeling the dog on his arm due to an andrenaline rush. This scumbag got what he deserved. I feel bad for the officer who was put in this situation. For all of you who may not agree you need to pull your head out of that nice dark spot and see the light. COPS are the GOOD guys. The few who give other cops bad names are far and few between. You may not be greeted with a smile, handshake, or anything else because they have to do this job day in and day out seeing anything from people shot to teenagers who wrecked their cars killing their best friend. So calm down a bit and the next time you or your friends are like "F the police man...F pigs!" just remember they are the ones who will still come out and save you.

Traffic lights in GTA 4 suck! Should be someway to change them. There has to be some code somewhere that operates the lights. I hate pulling up to an intersection with no one anywhere and my light turns red for no reason. Also hate pulling up and seeing my light green with people stopped and the red light traffic driving through. I understand that they sometimes run lights but sometimes I think the traffic lights glitch out. The best game I have played to date is Mafia 2 regarding the smallest things. -speed limits with cops that would pull you over -stopping at a red light would automatically put your brakes on (no GTA like traffic slamming into you) -cars didn't explode they would slowly burn to a crisp It is the little attention to detail that makes a game great.

This is the number one reason I hate computers. One day they all work and nothing is wrong. Next day they screw up. I had issues with my GTAIV. I ran a virus scan and disk drive cleaner. My problem was solved. Maybe it will work for you.
