Hey Matt,
First off I want to state that this reply is no means a reflection of G17 Media or my position here as a Staff Member and is my own personal response.
The "feud" you speak of is sort of aged in my mind so i don't remember all of it, I just know that many things were said in a unprofessional manner and reflected badly on how I think many of us viewed not only you, but your game in general.
How the idea that the video game you are developing became to appear as "competition" is very confusing to me and I think that some younger members who didn't quite understand the difference slapped the label between the two and it resulted in some bad issues. LSPDFR is a free modification for a game developed by a massive video game development company that is already established and the modification is built by a very small team. The aspects that make many people interested in LSPDFR is the "realism" factor that is attributed by the massive, wonderful community created modifications that attribute to the experience that LSPDFR provides.
I'm all for new products in areas that I take very big interest in, one of those being video games related to Law Enforcement. One of my fondest memories in life when I was younger was my father bringing home a video game called Worlds Wildest Police Chases (yes they made a video game version of it) and I played the hell out of it. As some one who currently serves as a Firefighter/EMT and plans on testing very soon to become a Police Officer, experiences I can enjoy that are very close to my real life ambitions hold a very dear spot in my heart. It's also the biggest reason why I'm proud to say I'm a member of this site that serves the very modification that allows such an experience as a Police Officer in a realistic sense. I say this because I think many people who are close to the experience I just stated are more than excited to see a game tailored to such an idea, and why many of us were so disappointed by the attitude and actions you displayed including me.
I think looking at the two as competition is foolish. LSPDFR is a modification made by a very small but very determined team that is free and available for anyone to download and enjoy. Your game however is intended to be sold, and as such will always be held to a higher standard and it should be. It is why many people who were more than happy to support such an idea come to fruition (including my self) were turned off by the attitude and actions you've displayed not only on this site but other places. Criticism is a big part of development. It's why Reviews, Betas/Alphas, and early teasers are such a big part of the gaming industry today. It allows the actual end user to state their own opinion on how something should be and it should never be met with hostility, as you are only arguing with the people who we're intending to give you money for the product you were building in the first place.
I honestly don't know what state your game is, and I'm not as interested as I was before. That being said however me being some one who is always open to apology's and people changing, I wish you nothing but the best for your video game and company. I see this as a good first step to allowing your game to become a final product and have people enjoy what you have promised.
As many famous and successful people have said in the past, don't get mad/frustrated. Prove us wrong.
