  1. Or if EVI changes his mind (which has happened once before, but given what's been going on recently, isn't likely to happen again.
  2. Specifically, he asked for his old mods to be taken down, so you won't find it on this site.
  3. As it stands, the topic name looks like you're making suggestions to the moderators. You really meant "Suggestions for new mods".
  4. At the point where you could be confused for the star of an action movie, "safety hazard" is a foreign concept.
  5. The one with a Taurus in that picture?
  6. With his "Location" field, I could have predicted the same thing.

  8. They might still re-open the investigation, because otherwise people would be demanding that they do it. (by the way, I got that info from the original investigation report)
  9. Actually, they do have a choice. DMCA notices only really work if there is a credible threat of litigation. You certainly can't issue a takedown unless you own copyright, so the whole group would have to agree. Even then, they could ignore him, and he'd have to sue (which is completely out of the question - lawsuits are expensive, time-consuming, and uncertain; it can be worth it if you're actually making money off the product, but stuff distributed for free isn't normally worth a lawsuit). Technically, the notice puts them at risk of a lawsuit, but if they ignore it, you have to actually follow up. And this is exactly the kind of thing that would get companies like Ford (who *will* file lawsuits if needed) to take notice, which can lead to cease-and-desists. TL;DR - The legal system is incredibly cubersome, and can lead to further issues, seeing as technically we're all infringing R*'s EULA and duplicating both trademarked names and copyrighted designs without permission.
  10. I personally don't like locked models, but seeing as modders release their hard work for free, I have no real grounds to complain about anything they want to do with them.
  11. Does this mean that Accurate Studio will also stop making variants on your US-style vehicles, or is it just that *you* will stop doing them? Regardless, that sucks that people are stealing your models.

  13. I think the backs of the cars say "COUNTY POLICE", not "POLICE POLICE". At least, I know that it says that on CVPIs, Chargers, and Impalas. One of my neighbors is a K9 officer, so he has a Tahoe parked in his driveway; next time I swing by there, I'll look at what it says.
  14. Comm: He was apparently told he was in danger of being fired immediately before he made his claims. That's what's fishy about it to me: Your boss says that you need to shape up, and then you immediately report misconduct on their part.
  15. Nutt: I meant criminals in real life, as opposed to TV, movies, and games. Literally, "real criminals". Also, when people say "assault weapon", they normally seem to mean semi-automatics (for example, that's what assault weapon bans focus on). Fully-automatic guns are not very common.
  16. I tried a few things, and they didn't work. I'm pretty sure you need 3ds max.
  17. Realistic would be a Glock. Real criminals generally don't have automatic weaponry.
  18. This was discussed on the first page. Mods are watching this topic in case it goes bad.
  19. Complaining to the responding officer that he was too slow is kind of a jerk move, but it shouldn't end in an assault.
  20. I don't think anyone would challenge your knowledge on what the police force is like, Comm. You're also making a good point about the whole "Yeah, now that he's been fired, I knew all along he was bad" bit. However, from what I saw when I scanned the report of the investigation that led to his firing, he had been told a couple days *before* filing his report that he needed to improve his performance; he was apparently in danger of a negative evaluation. Also, I'm not quite sure that the father of an alleged victim of police brutality is more objective than the officers involved. Probably not much less objective, but it's really easy to truly believe force used against your kid is unreasonable if it isn't. I'm not saying he would lie about what he saw; it's that interpretation of that wouldn't be unbiased.
  21. I could have sworn that JAM had a post here a minute ago...
  22. Drones are simply unmanned aerial vehicles. You know those RC planes people fly as a hobby? Those are drones; they're small drones, but they are the same concept as larger drones. Weapons are placed on a *very few* drones flown by the US military, but almost all drones are just cameras and other sensors mounted to an aircraft which is controlled from the ground. For obvious reasons, law-enforcement drones tend to not be armed.
  23. Yeah, because the LAPD asked for help. Most of the people involved aren't federal. (My post was more a reaction to the GTA-style idea that FBI are the elite mooks of law enforcement)
  24. What does the FBI have to do with this? Unless he's broken federal laws, the FBI has no jurisdiction here. Local and state law enforcement can request aid (I believe), but CHP, LAPD, LASD, etc. all have very well-trained and well-equipped tactical units, so the FBI probably isn't taking over anything (they might be used as "more people", and I could see federal agents being asked to do that, but they certainly aren't lead). Remember that the FBI isn't like "elite cops". It's different from state and local law enforcement, not really "better". Also, Rambo is a movie. Fiction. This guy is certainly dangerous, but he's up against the full power of the police force. He is insanely outnumbered and outgunned, with no allies. This doesn't end with him winning. The only worry is that he might kill more police or civilians before he's stopped (also, the corruption concerns, but that's separate). @Comm: A lot of American cops do have prior military experience, especially on tactical teams. Most departments give hiring advantages to veterans, and larger agencies often specifically recruit them. This guy wasn't the only veteran with the LAPD. I'm not sure how it works in Canada (it may be different there), but that's how it is here.
