Need help buying/building or upgrading a computer?
Graphics card sucks. I can see you understand that it's bad, but I don't think you grasp how bad it is. The one listed on that spec sheet is a type of video card that they'd carry in a store like Best Buy or Staples that someone can hurry into the store and grab off of the shelf in case their integrated graphics stops working and they need a temporary fix. It's not a gaming graphics card in the least. You need a graphics card in order for it to run at all never mind smoothly or not. I don't think either of those things are true. It's not crap, but it wont allow you to crank settings with an ENB. You could probably do a light ENB on medium settings, or put it on high without an ENB. That build is fine for LCPD:FR, but its an outdated game engine. If you're looking to get into other higher end games, the i7's a far better choice because it has more cache memory and a higher clock speed. If I'm spending around $1000+ on a computer I wouldn't consider anything but an i7 at this point. And that AMD graphics card should be fine, but it's been outpaced by the newer Kepler architecture in the 600 series nVidia graphics cards.

I take it his words were redacted because they we're offensive? If the mods have to edit his posts that many times can't we just close the topic of give him a suspension? Nobody needs to be trashed talked on here.

You may already be infected if you opened a .PDF file that was attached. Not only is opening an attachment via e-mail from an unknown sender a bad idea, but it's a .PDF. One of the least secure file types known to man. Adobe security is nearly nonexistent And vulnerabilities take an average of 3-4 months to get fixed, as the only release security updates quarterly, to match up with business's desires over general consumer needs.

AP Classes
Just an FYI these classes (especially languages) will heavily depend on any future careers or lifestyle plans to move or frequently travel to certain locations. There is a heavy Mexican population seeping into the U.S. that is quickly establishing themselves as a major racial influence and possibly even giving our country a 2nd language of sorts. I took Spanish for that reason. French is more or less useless in this country the way I see it, unless you live in Louisiana or wish to travel to France or move to Canada. Spanish is spoken as a native language of many people in my current area, and several countries around the world. And no, Calculus isn't that difficult in my opinion. And depending on how your school believes in teaching; you man end up in an easy Calculus class. By that I mean there were two different Calc teachers I dealt with in college. One of them taught a 'Calculator Math' class. It was 4 hours long on a Saturday, but the tests and general lessons were heavily influenced by graphing calculators. There was very little paperwork. Another class I took was on Monday's and Wednesdays, 2 hours per day. They were taught in a traditional manner. That being said, I scored better in the 2nd of the two classes, despite not having the help of a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphic calculator. Your brain may work differently, though.

If you could hang out with some of the Americans on here Slimory, I'm sure you'd be a little more upbeat about us. I think most people of any country are generally assholes. Western, Eastern, whatever. I used to be a firm believer that most people in this world are good, honest people who would at the drop of a hat help people in need. After just a few years of being an adult, I can honestly say I'm a glass half empty person about society. Most people piss me off and generally don't care about anything or anyone but themselves. That being said, I've ran into a few nice people along the way, which prevents me from becoming a total sociopath.

Give the cops new guns
I lived in a town with a police force that had about 2, maybe 3 officers on duty at any given time and they all carried tactical M4 carbines in their cruisers because they were more accurate than shotguns.

Nope, sorry. The first two in your second post were worse than the first one you posted. None of them have graphics cards. And LCPD-74 although that computer may function, it's going to play the game horribly.

This, scientific research into illnesses, cloning, bailouts, space research and exploration and paying middle eastern countries like Pakistan to be our friend and not lie to us which (*shocker*) doesn't work. Blown itself up yet? =/ Regarding an invasion though, it probably won't happen. We're like Russia, we're a huge land mass with a strong military, cutting edge technology and also happen to have the most guns per human population on the planet. The worlds largest army is actually not even the U.S. army. It's America's hunters. An invasion of U.S. soil would be a blood bath for both sides, since it's not the 1600's anymore. Besides, nobody would really want any part of our country barring Alaska for its oil reserves. And anybody who wants that territory is going to have to start some trouble with Canada and the UK too. Lastly our nation is in some ways; an island. Meaning countries that aren't Russia, Canada or Mexico would have a difficult time with mass movement of troops, weaponry and supplies, especially if a single nation was trying to attack us by themselves. Moreover, I think despite any problems our country may have, we do a large amount of good for this world and to see us vanish as if we never existed would turn this planet into a very different place.

I think they should add it to regular curriculum such as math, English and history seeing as it is just as much a part of our daily lives and can effect us to the point of potentially electing people who could lead us to something like war or poverty.

Mass security at an airport is an all or nothing measure. Just as you would as a police officer, you need to treat everyone as a potential threat. That state of mind shouldn't be anything new to you as an admirer of police work. If we make judgement calls to let people pass just because they're foreign, female, too young, etc. and don't want to be perceived as bigoted, it would be about just as ineffective as having no security at all. A the phrase police state insinuates that it's being used to suppress the common man's day to day rights such as free speech, freedom of the press, free election, etc. The last major occurance of that behavior on most peoples minds is Nazi Germany. That was a far different type of Germany than the one that exists to day, never mind comparing it to America. It's a shame the word 'nazi' gets thrown around so much today, as it detracts from the severity of the meaning to those who lived through REAL oppression. We allowed those bills to pass and we're allowing them to stay. If they interfered with our lives enough we could revoke them through popular vote. That's how our government works. The common man unfortunately is lazy. They typically do not call their senator or email their state representatives about issues that are important to them. I do. I was not old enough to be able to vote or do anything significant when those bills were going through our government system, and to be honest they aren't affecting my family to the point where we live our lives any differently than we did in the 1990's. You obviously don't watch much political media, if any because there was a large amount of talk about the Patriot Act during its inception, and people on the far left refer to it all the time in the same context you just did. I'll admit I don't watch very much political chatter on TV at all, but apparently I've seen enough to argue the point about the Patriot Act with you. Nobody will get the change they want in the economy/military/education system/healthcare industry as long as they live. It takes decades for major changes to happen, and will of course span over several presidency's. Many of the things that have gone into effect in the last 4 years have been leftover proposals and bills that had been passed during George W. Bush's tenure. I'm well aware that change takes a long time, and most presidents can't make a big impact on the world stage or even in their own country due to extreme left and right agendas getting in the way of each other. Most Americans aren't, apparently. And when they don't get results quickly, they get angry and they get bitter. I hope some of them become better educated on how our political system works, and understand that the president can't just simply sign a piece of paper and make everything work by himself. The bottom line is that there are many old cranky white men standing in the way of any true change, no matter who's in office. Democrat or Republican. And it most likely will always be that way.

I thought this forum board would be beneath this. Can we please lock and/or delete this thread? Calling it stupid would be an understatement.

Short police officers?
I think we're getting off track here. The concern the original poster had, and I have are that his size would be a disadvantage should an altercation break out. I believe we has established that according to simple body physics, you can win a fight against someone much bigger than you if you know how to use their body against them. That being said, that still does not solve the issue with doped up criminals who don't feel pain, gain virtually limitless strength and endurance for a short period of time or don't fight traditionally. Observe: Now, before you comment on the video, I'm aware those three cops didn't do that great of a job at fighting, but it proves my point. If there are three average-joe cops who can't take out a tall, lanky black dude on meth, what is a 5'3 person who doesn't regularly lift weights or probably isn't an expert in martial arts going to do against one when he's alone? Take my advice, OP; Bulk up. Any advantage you can get over someone like that, you better take, in the interest of preserving your own life if nothing else.

Really, dude? If you have political opinions, that's fine, but keep that trash talk off of here.

Need help buying/building or upgrading a computer?
The desktop's going to perform a lot better. You probably won't be maxing things out, but it's the best bet if you don't need portability. Run whatever Windows version you want, if you don't want 8, but I haven't heard a truly compelling argument as to why it's a bad OS.

Working In Da Police :D
We already have a tread about this that's several pages long, as I recall.

Short police officers?
My advice to to bulk up if you don't end up growing anymore. Police fighting techniques are supposed to teach you to use your opponents weight and momentum against them during attacks. But it won't allow you to overpower a 6'4 guy on a meth rage who doesn't feel pain. You need raw strength for that.

GTA IV 2013 Ford Police Interceptor Utility(Explorer)
1.) Use the game audio, I stopped being excited about System of a Down in 2005. 2.) Can you move your camera around so I don't stare at almost nothing but the back of the SUV for 7 minutes? 3.) That truck is uglier than its real life counterpart.

Female LCPD Officers
Wonderful job, man. And in response to sc2142: RC3 has been in testing for some time now, as internal testers are always at least one step ahead of the public releases in terms of updates and changes. That being said, there's no official word on when RC3 will be "ready" even among the testers, sorry. The good news for you is that it doesn't play that much differently, so it's not a quantum leap beyond RC2.

ENB FOR MY COMP?
That laptop's probably not going to cut it, man. The 'G' series is a budget lineup from HP. Slightly better parts than a Compaq, but the same poor build quality. They have the Compaq lineup, then the G series, then the Pavilion series, then the Envy or Pavilion Elite series. I'd be amazed if GTA IV ran at a tolerable frame rate regularly on a high resolution, never mind with an ENB. The '6' in the G name simply means it's a 16" laptop. Just the same that G7 would mean it's a 17" laptop.

What do you think?
That's just it. The change was needed because the computing industry is about more than desktops and laptops now. Smartphones and tablets are a part of our every day lives, and like it or not; they aren't going away. Microsoft realizes this and Windows 8 is an attempt to do what Apple has already slowly been working on for about a decade now. It's an attempt to unify their entire product lineup under one interface. This means that if you pick up a Windows 8 based phone, tablet or even try someones XBOX, you'll know how to use it because you already (in this scenario I'm describing) already own a Windows 8 based PC. It's a great idea actually. The problem with it is that Microsoft and Apple have opposite approaches to this. Apple has been slowly nudging people in the direction of a unified operating system for years, and the changes to OSX have only been the "boldest" when Mountain Lion was recently released due to features like Facebook integration, Siri dictation, a notifications tab and mirroring with Apple TV. Microsoft meanwhile has done nothing to make it easy to connect with other devices under their branding unless you count Games for Windows Live which is absolutely horrible. So rather than stay in a position where they are a decade behind Apple in simplifying all of their products for a consistent user experience, they developed Windows 8, and it's a system shock because they're shoving you into the pool, so to speak. Some people may give up on Windows computers for this reason, and I think Microsoft knew that during development. It's a calculated risk, and it's either going to pay off, or it won't. They won't be broke if it doesn't pay off, it will just be "back to the drawing board". So in regards to your lack of desire for a touch screen desktop; cool. You don't need one. Just click the panel in the bottom left corner of the start screen that says 'Desktop' and you can forget that the start panel even exists. Do you own any kind of smart phone or mp3 player? Did you ever own a CD or DVD player before that? The way we interact with multimedia changes frequently. So something you may percieve as a fad may in fact be a generation of technology that blows past you in less than 10 years. The work will mostly be done by your internet connection, and this is provided you use the panels that update in real time. If you don't want panels that display streaming updates to stocks, weather and social network sites, then don't use them. They also aren't active unless you have the start screen up, which you won't during a game. It reverts to desktop mode automatically. No, you don't have to. You can just pin them on the start screen or the desktop, whichever you'd prefer. Since you boot to it first, the start screen makes the most sense, but I might do both in case I don't want to alternate between the two. And I'm going to have to disagree with you on the whole searching vs. using the start menu thing. I can hit the Windows logo key and type in part of a word and hit 'Enter' faster than you can pick any program out of any folder on the 'All Programs' menu. I guarantee it. And that was in Windows 7 and Vista. In Windows 8 you don't even need to hit the Windows logo key. You can just start typing something. It can't get much lazier than that, unless they decide to integrate voice activation (I'm just waiting for the Windows 9 commercials to come along and tout that as a revolutionary new feature). All Linux systems are screwed from the day they're developed because they begin with less than a 1% market share and have to fight dozens of other Linux variants that may or may not be better. And when something better comes along (Fedora, Mint, you pick) and bumps it out of the way, it's all over unless they manage to revolutionize they UI. And so far they all pretty much mimic Windows or Mac OSX. And please don't give me any arguments about UI copying because I don't want to go all the way back to the 80's when Xerox was the first company to develop a modern UI. Every software company on the planet copies off of another and modifies it to better its features. It sucks, but in the end it benefits the user. The U.S. patent system gets in the way more than it helps these days. No, you don't have to pay Microsoft anything. Windows 7 support supposedly goes on until 2020 according to a leaked Microsoft road map, so you can stick with the OS until then if you really want. People just need to remember that Windows 8 wasn't designed with the desktop and laptop users in mind only. In this day and age they can't afford to design their software like that anymore. Apple and even Google both have huge head starts on them in the mobile sector. And if you haven't read much tech news, Apple is the richest company on the planet right now. Even more than the oil companies. And the majority of that money hasn't come from iMacs, MacBooks or even the Mac Pro desktop. It's come from their more affordable and easily accessable iPhones, iPods and iPads. Simple as they may be. That's the majority of our planet. Most people are interested in being connected with each other in many areas, and want something intuitive, easy to use and understand. The way most of us PC snobs see it, most people are dumb. And although that may be true to an extent, the needs of the many outweigh the preferences of the few. So here we are today with Windows 8. A new type of interface for a new type of computing taken into account. As angry as you may be over these changes, think about how people who used command prompts all the time felt when a graphical user interface came out. Some were excited, others were angry. Or travel back in time (if you're old enough to remember) when computers were handled using punch cards. Evolution of technology happens all the time. And we either have to "deal" with the changes or find another hobby. lol

Graphics card is horrible on that, processor is pretty underwhelming. You should be spending about a minimum of $800 on a gaming pc.

What do you think?
The hate on Windows 8 is ridiculous and quite frankly unfounded. I think humans by nature struggle to accept major change in anything. God forbid a piece of electronic equipment they use every day. The actual operating system has changed very, very little. The normal desktop still exists. The main difference is that instead of a start button, you now have a start screen which has full icons or panels that update in real time and are friendlier to touch interfaces. They did this for two reasons. The first was to get people ready for tablets and other gesture devices. The second however, makes sense for the consumer's day to day usage as well. The second reason was that most Microsoft reps who observed people use Windows 7 found that most users they tested ended up pinning the apps they used to the quick launch bar or put an icon on the desktop, hence not using or therefore needing a clunky start menu with folders and sub-folders. The idea for a start menu was drafted in the 1990's. Apple has had a dock, more or less a smaller version of the start screen or a big version of the quick launch bar since the early to mid 2000's. It's the year 2012. It's time to move on. The people who miss their old desktop can just press the big button in the lower right corner that says 'Desktop' and stay in that mode 24/7 if they want.
