  1. And what the charge would be? The DoJ declined to prosecute for civil right violation. Are you sure they would do it to any other person? We don't know all the facts of the case and discovered evidence, at least not me certainly. But judging from what was made public, state DA overcharged the cops and then failed to provide convincing proof (some cops were acquitted by the court, others were mistried and the charges were dropped, if the info I found is correct). The DA probably did that to satisfy the angry public. In my country were would be a lot of negligence charges (failed to transport properly -> prisoner dies -> all elements of crime in order) and a termination of course. But then again, I'm not proficient in American law, it's all speculation. You guys might know better
  2. Initial State charges were definitely over the top. If I recall correctly the cops were charged with manslaughter, false imprisonment and even some kind of murder. No wonder the state case fell apart, I'd love to see how one would prove murder by placing in the back of a police car. On the other hand, transport procedure violation resulted in death of the transported person... In my eyes enough ground for termination of those directly responsible.

  4. Oh you redphobs... Blame the Brits, they started it. Where I from, they were painted yellow at some point. And, before you ask, taxis were painted grey-and-black. In Soviet Russia...
  5. We've already established that engines shall be blue :D
  6. Different designs are a nice thing to have, especially in a federation, where regions/states/counties maintain certain independence. On the other hand, many liveries hurt my eyes s much it's not even funny, like the new Detroit PD livery. Ohhh Gosh. On yet another hand (third), many original design solutions are so cool.
  7. Nah, I guess what he says is those things may make the car look like it has armored carcass. I'm not sure though. Local armored patrol cars look like this
  8. Hope Canadian perps have good vision and comprehension, because I missed these at the first glance and then didn't really connect the dots between those things and why it could be considered an armored vehicle :D Seriously, though, I like the design. But for some strange reason I'll always prefer white liveries over anything else.
  9. Sure, they should be Navy Blue, just like in America :P
  10. I still don't know the exact reason why but 2 years after I stumbled upon some interesting bits of discussion regarding CSP. http://articles.courant.com/2000-11-02/news/0011021489_1_state-trooper-unmarked-trooper-cars-cars-home Interesting.
  11. Weapon steel color perhaps. I don't agree with the Council's reasoning (a cop car ain't supposed to be a rainbow-colored unicorn with pink hearts) but I can see their point. Me personally likes this Toronto cop car:
  12. Hope they could make a SH update by the weekend, I'm too busy now to play any kind of games anyway :D On a side note, this updated brought a Hunter heli (I still remember that OHDUDE cheatcode from San Adreas!) and a VTOL. Something RDE Team might find useful. On another side note, I honestly thought R* would add legit customs/border patrol vehicles or peds, we're talking smugglers after all. But apparently nope, law enforcement is long gone and forgotten.
  13. Your definition is correct, but your interpretation is a bit not. The black market offers stolen car parts. They are not subject to any government control or regulation (well maybe in France or in the EU they are, but not here), they are simply cheaper. This example is incorrect. I do not buy a black-market gun to save a buck, I buy it because I can't do it legally. Either guns are outlawed completely or I can't buy it without a permit, doesn't matter to me. Yes, legalized gun trade would increase the amount of guns on the black market. However, the complete ban of any and all guns would not shut the black market down, it would only raise the prices, and law abiding civs at the same time would have to pray and hope for the best. Maybe you could enforce gun ban in a small country with a well-developed surveillance network. In the US... Doubt that. Who would enforce gun control in Mexico to prevent those guns sneaking through the border? I mean, like. Heroin is banned. Would you tell me that it isn't sold anywhere?
  14. They do add new models RDE Team can use, don't they. Look at it the other way, once you got the game, why would the seller care about you any longer. Capitalism.
  15. In my opinion, Scalia was one of the best SCOTUS justices who actually let good old common sense in many decisions (even though sometimes I didn't share his position). And there's absolutely nothing wrong or illogical in his reasoning quoted above by @TA120. Limiting Second Amendment to muskets and organised military formations seems like... Like banning right-wing media to protect the freedom of speech, yes. There's absolutely no reason to restrict my free will in a civilized society if I don't do harm to anyone. Maybe there's no reason to carry a baseball bat in the trunk of my car if I don't play baseball either? Yes, guns are dangerous, so are, for example, cars and/or certain chemicals in the wrong hands. Can't ban it all.
  16. @TheDivineHustleis spot on on the black market's mechanics and respect to the cops. I respect them too, but (hypothetically) if I hear shots fired in my office and on my desk lay my gun and my cell, I would pick up the gun, because merely calling for the cops would take what, 15-30 seconds? Unfortunately, in my experience the law enforcement more often tracks down perpetrators rather than prevents crimes in progress. But hey, TDH... I walked Eutaw Place and Druid Hills at night and I'm white as snow :P Yeah, I had a gun to my face, but it were actually the five-oh. Guys mistook me for a dealer lol. Seriously, I even hanged out one night with some local hood boys and listened to their stories. They were nice. For gangbangers.
  17. I'm more than sure policy prohibits swearing back OTJ. It disgraces the agency. How strict would the department enforce such policy may vary, but I'm confident a video recording with a cop and a civilian shouting obscenities at each other would result in something baaad for the cop. On the other hand, a public servant shall be protected by the law. Again here in Russia offending a public official with regard to his official capacity is an offence. Moreover such official has the right to sue the foul-mouthed civilian and claim compensation -- just like any regular citizen.
  18. We have an administrative offence called "Petty Disturbance", and if you swear in public, there's a perfectly valid cause to detain you. However, in Russian we have those words that are considered profanities. Simply saying "shit", "damn", "fool" in public is not an offence. Something like "fuck" and such is. To my knowledge English has no such clear distinction...
  19. Run, smugglers, run. Thankfully me no use RPH right now, and usually they fix the Scripthook pretty quick. Hope that update won't kill my two-hour-gaming break I planned for the Saturday!
  20. Is there an update lurking in the shadows? Damn.
  21. Hmm, to be honest, I'd like to visit Iraq or Syria or Afghanistan. I'd also like to choke to death the bitch who orders killings of civilians on our streets. I distrust people who choose to belief a set of ideas that encourage murder. I do believe that many members of this forum would condemn me for my beliefs. Am I an extremist? 'Extremist' is an awfully dangerous concept because it's sooooo vague. Does visiting a certain country make you one? Sharing a post on your page with anti-immigrants pic? Visiting an ISIS recruitment website (for any purpose)? Offending people on the internet? That's why we need accurate and precise laws containing accurate and precise criteria what is a crime and how it shall be punished. Of course, government security has a right to watch people they don't trust... So let them watch and make all evidence obtained by such watch inadmissible. I don't protect terrorists and criminals, but once you allow the state to circumvent the laws for any 'highest purpose', you'll have a problem.
  22. Ha ha, I imagined for a second roleplaying lspdfr under our local procedures. For starters that would involve responding to most calls with a 40 minutes delay. Like @Caramel, being concerned with procedures, I was also confused with things like "suspended license", "revoked license", "expired license" and whether those are arrestable/towable offences, as I also wanted to play it the legit way.
  23. I wish they could call SWAT as well. So want to see those Police Riots against someone else!
