  1. NFS Hot Pursuit featured a police helicopter dropping explosive barrels :D Guess that's not a widespread pursuit procedure... Better being outrun than... Well...
  2. My game never crashed because of RDE in normal gameplay, frankly :D I never tried with LSPDFR though, that may make a change due to the amount of scripts.
  3. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/london-attack-single-police-officer-took-terrorists-armed-baton-borough-a7772251.html Well... If he had a gun, he might not end up in the hospital in a severe condition. I sincerely hopes this officer will recover. He's obviously a very brave and honest person, one that people can count on.
  4. Don't think that's the issue. RDE is not compatible with at least a number of singleplayer missions (even not involving police), unfortunately :(
  5. In my country roadblocks are rarely used (because the officers would have to pay for repairing the fleet cars), but under the law police may order truck drivers to block the road with their vehicles, and this is somewhat a frequent measure. Yet to hear about casualties... Are they even used in the US? I heard that getting in front of a fleeing car is dangerous, can get shot. I have no clue about National Police tactics, by the way, maybe you could share something about how is it done in your country? Who's in charge of a change, police or the Gendarmerie?
  6. Our local news report that according to UK sources two suspects have been killed, one at large, and a possible officer killed. Still no reports on casualties...
  7. It would be interesting if forum members from other countries tell their country's attitude towards police. As far as I can tell what you're describing is definitely not only an American issues, and I wonder if any country succeeded in reforms you're describing. I have nothing but respect for those US LEOs I met and interacted while I was in the States, but the scope of authority American police has surprises me. So much depends on the personality of a LEO. But I guess that discussion is completely unrelated :/
  8. Because stock parts fit in much better :P Seriously, the tanker and the ladder truck look great. I especially like the lights setup. @GlitchGamer, out of curiosity, are American fire tankers all with two axles, like the one you're creating?
  9. Well I tried to respray my vehicle to get rid of the wanted level, not to robe the place ) Two weeks before I was able to outrun 3 stars in a beater Emperor. Now the only way I was able to do it was to hijack a plane.
  10. Is it just me or is it supposed for the LC Customs to be closed when you're Wanted?
  11. I wanted to post something like that, but TDH got ahead of me. In my country we have nothing like "thin blue line" or bumper stickers or "family member" badges, people here are not keen on such things, and rest assured, not short on backstabbing persons too. Still there's a mutual understanding between people who do this job (sadly, I can't say I was one of them). Anyway, this is hardly related to remembering the dead.
  12. By the way... Once R* releases all 48 updates, what they'll do? Expand the cap or discontinue the GTAO support and turn to singleplayer to give us turnsignals and car shops and new missions and property to enjoy the game... Nah, just expand the cap I think. Please tell me at least one vehicle would have a rotating dashboard beacon :( Hmm, an undercover Jeep Cherokee? Never seen one O.o
  13. An unmarked Rumpo, so great. Unmarked units are one of the best touches of the mod. Nothing's like being chased thru Blaine Country by two battered old-gen Staniers with Deputies wearing jeans and shirts. just like my country @11john11 gotta receive a special decoration or something, no doubt. He even created a vintage ambulance!
  14. I sorta know a bit about unarmed and dangerous, thanks. By the way, is this only in certain states or is this a general rule in the US?
  15. This is a really interesting point you made. I heard and saw a lot about "officer felt threatened" as a ground for the use of force. It seems really vague to me because it's a concept that is absent in my country's legal system (here it's all about proving there was violence dangerous for life or health). So in your state the standards of determining whether the deadly force was reasonable are the same for law enforcement as well as civilians?
  16. Well, you see, you were able to do it yourself pretty good :) I, for example, don't want any real cars in my game and really don't care much if there're six or eight agents in a vehicle. Anyway in my country special units use old buses or huge trucks, and usually are dispatched in platoons (up to 20 officers). That's the whole cool point, if you want a different car or a ped model, you could easily customize your game. However, RDE changes police behavior, patrol and response tactics on a whole different level! Not something that's easy to do on your own (at least for me, lol).
  17. Interesting that when discussing the allegedly excessive usage of force by American cops, the first argument (usually) is that UK police is mainly unarmed. To me this is strange because a) most European police is armed, b) the UK is a very special country with its special traditions and ways of life. Unarmed police is more a tradition than a practical need. At the same time I'd agree with Riley on that one. To me it's strange that in the US in most cases I'm aware of (thanks to the news) gun is a first (and obviously last) resort. The last case with officer Betty Shelby totally stunned me (for the reference - https://www.yahoo.com/news/tulsa-braces-protests-officer-acquitted-killing-unarmed-man-170822982.html I believe that lethal force may be justifiable for a knife, for a boulder and even for an unarmed person -- if there's a clear and present danger. For example in the above video I would never question the use of deadly force. However, the whole concept of justifying the use of legal force "if an officer feels threatened" is completely incomprehensible for me.
  18. I just tried that a day ago, in my case if I am behind a wall, above or under police (on a roof or under a bridge) they don't see me, but they get a general idea and converge around my location. Bushes never hid me at all.
  19. From what we've seen till now, I guess RDE is more about realistic law enforcement behavior and less about real life vehicles. A good approach, because it's possible for people to replace the models by themselves if they dislike in-game ones. There's a number of people (me included) who enjoy lore-friendly mods over IRL models :)
  20. Is that a statutory definition or from a policy of a particular PD? By the way, how the UOF is regulated in the US? Is there a law at least on a state's level or it all goes down to court practice and policies of departments?
  21. A fisrt-gen Patriot is the one featured in GTA SA, correct? Was a monstrous vehicle with excellent handling, I wish it lived to see the HD era.
  22. Bbbbut that would be no lore-friendly, c'mon :( I actually like Riots and GTA IV Enforcers more that Bearcats. Honestly, never understood why most of Bearcats are so popular.
  23. To me this is a tough topic. On the one hand, I realise his actions were at least aimed at getting votes (and selling merchandise!) not fighting crime. On the other, he was tough on those who are tough on other (and this reminds me of Officer Tenpenny, which is probably not good). Overall, I hardly can decide, considering he was a cop in a very strange country with very strange laws ("strange" like "unfamiliar to me"). I guess that in my country a lot of officers and management might share his thoughts on crime-fighting, but I'm sure that no one here would publicly say it.
  24. Kewl black'n'whites with a big star and a love for Crownvics. What's not to love? However outside of the US not many people would notice a difference between LAPD, LASD, CHP or SFPD, I think :D
