  1. Trust me, you don't want to live in a country where people are locked up without hard proof just because they're "bad". It works the other way around too when the regime changes.
  2. Just a question, did you remove the "give up at any amount of stars" option from the Arrest Warrant script? I recall being able to press G to do it, but doesn't seem to be quite working...
  3. The disadvantages of a sophisticated legal system I guess? Prosecution costs money, so if there's no stone hard evidence (and I guess there're none apart from "googled how to kill everyone in the name of the religion of peace") you probably won't get a conviction.
  4. So a random guy all of a sudden decided to kill people just because some unknown person said so? Either we (the public) not getting the whole story due to intelligence reasons, or...
  5. They could, but you can't prevent terror attacks by checkpoints. Moreover, it's not even police work, it's the matter of intelligence, national security and other privacy invading cool stuff which allows men in black to strike preemptively, targeting immigrants and minorities on the grounds of not-so-good intelligence [i'm not really being serious here] We have, honestly, not so good and not so many patrol cops and our security measures are a joke. But old KGB masterminds somehow keep us protected, and I'm not sure I'm eager to know how. When it comes to the war on terror, there's no country for lawyers and cops...
  6. As @Jax765 mentioned before, the amount of gang conflict is relatively high and might be of issue to some people. I honestly just avoid gang districts if I'm not in the mood for fighting. As Officer Tenpenny once said, the job is to intimidate those who intimidate others, so let them kill each other :D
  7. Oh, you right, I totally forgot how it works in the States. Makes sense then. Brings that feel of accomplishment. If you manage to stay without crashing this long :D
  8. I doubt street cops see much court action O_o Might be different overseas, of course. As far as the mod goes, I liked the system Albo has created. I would love it even more if violators were found not guilty from time to time, or receive probation or whatever. We all know those liberal SA courts... You can walk out with a 10,000 bail after 10 minute long 6th star chase :D That, however, might require implementing ticketing/evidence mechanics, which might be too much...
  9. You tried bringing in help to combine investigative efforts? Something like that would be #1 on our case list...
  10. Just a question, do you receive any specific error message or a simple "GTA V stopped working" one? I don't crash often, but sometimes it happens. Even after I spent around $500 on a new graphic card and a CPU cooler. Read the above posts... Checked in game... Yeah, vehicles do have steady burns. This level of attention to details is amazing. All I need right now -- or probably even "we need" - is a ticket scipt. Sometimes I do want to pull over on the side of the highway for that SAHP unit and not end up in jail. However, the dense AI would probably ram me off the road, kill himself or park in the middle of the highway :D
  11. Hundreds of thousands you mean... The place where I worked had 4 officially unsolved in a quarter, and that's just one district of a city... Dead nude in a vehicle... Out here wouldn't bother too much to investigate unless relatives insisted.
  12. I'm not a mod maker and probably will never be (I'm dumb like a stone), and if I were I would probably release my mods to everyone just because it's always more exciting to make gifts rather than play myself. But in general, well, the mod might be too raw, too undeveloped, the creator might have lost his interest... The list could go on and on. Honestly I believe telling mod makers what to do is purely ungrateful. Those people brought us LC/LSPDFR, RDE, I forgot how many mods for GTA IV, even more for GTA V, and everything is free of charge. If we talking about just showing off publicly something you never meant to release in the first place, that's something else though.
  13. Then, perhaps, you could be able to explain why does it annoy anyone at all? I saw this pattern of thinking even here on LCPDFR site, when someone it the gallery shows a nice car, says it's for internal use only and receives some negative replies. Always puzzled me why.
  14. Did anyone try to loose the cops on high wanted levels in tunnels / under bridges? In 3.0 sometimes they were able to see through the ground, detected me twice in a subway from the surface, I wonder whether it's been fixed.
  15. Not quite, but surely not because it didn't try to. They run over some cops, one fatally. Other than that, the cops lost only that detective. In GTA IV the AI was scripted to leave their vehicles and run away. It was irritating but much better than that V nonsense. They don't even try to drive away, they just plow through.
  16. Well well, RDE 3.1 isn't short on epic moments, just as the previous version. So I am at a traffic light next to Franklin's when a Vago pulls up, exits his car and all of a sudden shoots someone on the sidewalk (a Grove member perhaps). I'm like ooookay... Then 3-4 GSF thugs start shooting at the Vago, he takes cover and fires back. One of the thugs has an AK. I'm like should I call the cops to see how they handle such shootouts? Just when I'm thinking this, an unmarked Stanier lights up, the officer in a white shirt (a detective perhaps?) shoots the Vago dead with one single shot. Of course, the GSF guys are on the cop now! He's outnumbered, so he takes a round and collapses. Just as he does, I'm hearing a ton of sirens from three different directions. And like 5 black and whites arrive (definitely two Buffalos, Stanier and a Gresley), cops get out and engage the whole GSF set now! The cops had body armor and rifles and shotguns too, they took on, I believe, TEN gangsters and shot them all dead. As a finishing touch, an ambulance arrives just as the last shot is fired and paramedics rush to the downed detective. This all happened at dark, with red and blues all other the place, the cops had their flashlights on, well, I wish I made some screenshots to show you guys, but.. It was a mind blowing scene, I've never seen anything like that in GTA outside of missions and LSPDFR. It reminded me of the SouthLAnd episode when a gang detective was killed. The only thing is... Could something be done with that traffic? Make them all leave their cars or just sit still insdead of mindlessly driving forward when shots are fired? Damn.
  17. Yep, the Supreme Court agreed to review the case. Discrimination in general is. Discrimination in this instance... Not so sure. I won't go to a doctor who hates me or to a cafe where owners dislikes, say, lawyers, so it's best they tell me they don't want me here up front. And I surely don't want to be treated by someone who's forced to do it by the law.
  18. I'm following a case right now involving a bakery refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding on a basis of their religious beliefs. I'm a lawyer and I enjoy studying foreign law, so this kind of stuff interests me a lot. From what I gather there's a lengthy battle beginning in the XX century, but apparently there're laws that prohibit service discrimination, but only on the basis of certain criteria, like religion or sexual orientation. From my view there's nothing wrong re such discrimination. It's a personal business, they pay their taxes and other fees and may choose who to hire and who to service. If one shop doesn't serve cops or blacks or Christians, I'm sure another one would be happy to accommodate them. I have to admit, I like things this way. If I had a shop, I would make sure every customer is treated kindly and feels himself as a dear guest. That would make my store popular and attract nice people. Other owners, on the other hand, shall have the right to do things their way... and face the consequences. I may be biased, as in my country we have no free market and ownership rights since 1928, so your system looks appealing.
  19. But does the owner have a right to prohibit anyone with weapons on the property, including law enforcement who are not in their official capacity? That's an interesting question for me.
  20. Interesting. Well I guess the law is the law, if you're not in your official capacity, play by the rules of the owner. The owner might be unreasonable or plain stupid, but nevertheless. If it's official, then take him back to the station and beat him with a phone book!
  21. First thing I'll do? I'll take my truck out for a spin in the county. See all those new units, talk with some officers in their cool uniform, find park rangers... Spend a night in jail... Usual Friday night.
  22. like ten years ago, when I was a kid and we played Vietnam War in one of our southern towns, none of our airsofts even had orange tips to begin with :D I was the only proud M16 owner, so I was representing the Marines while others chimed in as Soviets or locals. There were some civilian casualties... A window or two shattered... UN (my grandma) was not pleased. Detaining and interrogating insurgents was the fun part as well. Geez, you made me remember the good times :D
  23. Really, really, really an incorrect assumption... After all RDE contains mostly lore vehicles and their variations, and they fit the game universe the best. Don't have a clue why would someone prefer real life cars over lore... unless it's old real life cars :P
  24. Was thinking the same thing! Looks like this one is still in service in one of our distant towns! I hear that officers who tried one of those would choose that old US frame-based sedan over any new Russian car. The fuel must cost a fortune on the other hand. It's not as bright and shiny today, but still is in decent shape
