  2. R* are in a unique position. GTAO is very flexible and it's easy to make global changes to the gameplay to keep people's attention. I really wish Eve Online or WoW could change game mechanics that easy, they're losing a lot of people, but their engine doesn't allow for any drastic change. Be that as it may it'll probably break our games with adding exactly nothing new :/
  3. And it's gonna be a huuuge one this time. A new story and, of course, zero treats for singleplayer.
  4. Most of his promises hardly are 'good'. But guess he's more about getting things done his own way than pleasing everyone equally. Something like that caused WWI and WWII but also brought great social changes. From my viewpoint supporting your ally no matter what is decent tho.
  5. He made that promise during his campaign, he did it. At least some of his promises have been fulfilled which is rare for politicians.
  6. The Rodchenkov guy, the one that is the lead rat in IOC case against Russia.
  7. That's what happens when the chief of your national doping testing lab is a certified mentally ill person who was arrested for drug dealing on the job four years ago. Magically and mysteriously the criminal case against him felt apart so he could be the chief doping fighter for another four years. From Russia with love.
  8. Yep. They even have memos like "Off-duty officer. Treat accordingly" and something about not messing with government agents. Kinda cool actually, I got an IAA agent once when he ran over a pedestrian... Had to let the man in black go, y'know, homeland security and all that...
  9. LSPDFR actually has some peds marked as IAA or FIB or off-duty cops when you run their IDs.
  10. Alright then. Like I said, it was probably a dumb question :/
  11. Good day to you fellow members. I've a question for you :) I'm doing a kind of a research for myself on the best possible approach to organize a court enforcement service. The one existing in my country is so ineffective that even legitimate businesses from time to time transfer their rights to not-so-legitimate persons who employ not-so-legitimate enforcement means (obnoxious phone calls, stalking, threats of physical violence and hot soldering tools) to get any money from the debtors. In my country it's called Federal Service of Bailiffs and is tasked with enforcing court decisions and protecting the courts. They have no police powers. I know a bit about American agencies (USMS of federal level and various agencies in various states). What about other countries? I'm not really interested in officially available information (i.e. a name and basic Wikipedia info), more like your own experience and impressions, if any. All answers are valuable and appreciated :)
  12. What gave me up? No way in hell that was my weird English :D Usually I'm pretty well at it but after work I get too tired and begin composing the sentences the way I do it in Russian. So apologies for hurting your eyes :) Yeah, but IMO that's just a nod to Miami Vice series. Realistically speaking, the only thing actual vice cops would do is drug/vice cases, not firefights at three stars, so... One thing no one still brought up are actual SWAT/NOOSE units in GTA V. I mean, let's see. We have a Noose Riot (bearing BOTH Noose and LSPD decals but whatever), so you'd think they would use an armored truck capable of transporting 6 officers for shutting down streets and reaching holed up shooters? No, we will deploy a spike strip and post one cop near the Riot because we can. And we will dispatch SWAT/Noose/Whatever this is in SUVs hanging from the sides so they could fall down at the first slight touch. To make it even better, we'd dispatch them in FIB and LSSD SUVs because why not. And we would add an LSPD van armored to the teeth precisely for no reason (except being near spikes). Honestly, when I first tried to screw with the cops in GTA IV, I found it entertaining enough. Cops, Noose PIA. Noose Stockades, and finally FIB. In GTA V... LSPD/LSSD, Noose in Grangers, aaaand... More Noose in Grangers? Really? PS: Hope admins don't mind us having this discussion here)
  13. Guess the problem is the AI. In SA when cop bikers slammed into the player that was fun. In GTA IV with its overall seriousness that would look simply dumb (in my opinion). By the way... Did you notice that in SA all bikers knew how to lane-split and often were able to bypass the whole line before a traffic light, but in GTA IV they instantly forgot how to do it and obediently sat in the middle of the road? Well, I'm Russian, so you know how it works in the US much better than me anyways :D I guess we could presume R* didn't do a complete research with SA... Come to think of it, VCPD suffered from least mishaps than all police forces in 3d universe. Remember those cool Vice Cheetahs with their lights on the dashboard? In the end I can thank R* for at least creating enough tools for the modders to do whatever they want and amaze us with their high-quality models.
  14. Oh, they don't care alright. Though I will argue that in GTA SA in was more or less better. For example, there was San Andreas Police Department (a state police-like thing, guess can be treated as a Texas or Arisona DPS) with LSPD, SFPD, LVPD and Rural police being its branches. It's not quite how it is in the US but at least has some inner logic. Though still having LSPD SWAT in Tierra Robada was a bit off, to say the least. But GTA IV brought it to the next level. You already mentioned ASP, but there is Noose PIA with different vehicles but LCPD uniforms and a Alderney State Correctional Facility using LCPD stockades, undercover LCPD officers in Alderney watching the bikers using FIB Buffalos with red-and-blue lights (considering how all LCPD vehicles use red-and-white), oh god. And it's not even that hard to create a proper vehicle. Take a Stanier, paint it black (see a red door first), put a light on it like that -> and voila! Modders do that having only desire and energy. R* has money and human resources. And even for those guys who play GTA 'as intended' -- it only wold make firefights with cops much more interesting.
  15. Hi All. I get this is a fairly dumb question... But it's Friday so I figured why not. Since we all have to select a country of our residence in our profile information tab, could you consider adding some fictional countries to the list (or just let us type whatever we want there)? Anyway there's no real way to provewhere someone lives, so why not. Of course there might be certain logic behind which I fail to see... I'd for one would like to have New California Republic there :P
  16. Jeez, man, that's just disgusting. I agree with TDH on this one, if you have a designated "KIDS" tag, make damn sure it's OK for kids, otherwise why would you even implement it in the first place? Orrrr... Establish the admission age 16+ (18+ depending on local laws) and don't give a damn. When it comes to monitoring all newly uploaded vids, I'd say that's impossible and all YouTube stuff need to do is timely follow up on flagged videos. But if it's designated for kids... Yeah, well, you made it possible to assign such tag on your website, ergo you're the one who's responsible for it.
  17. Huh. Lore-friendly cars and any anxious PD can take a hike... Besides they fit much better :P On the other hand, in course of general GTA gameplay cops are being shot, beaten, ran over, exploded and stabbed for fun, so if I saw that done to my PD's cars and officers I might get upset.
  18. Yeah, there's a Merit, so I'm hoping to see an unmarked Merit in future RDE releases, I love this neat car :3 I do, but I doubt mine is RDE-related. Yours have any specific log traces?
  19. Unfortunately, when it comes to in-game public services, their usual level of attention to details frequently lowers. Interesting that there are unmarked LSPD units on Premiers... A node to Impalas IRL? Maybe adding a civilian version of Merit and an unmarked one could be a nice touch as well..
  20. You're 2 days late, you know. Creating a single thread for posting notes about remarkable/interesting events or accidents in history would be a nice idea I imagine, I would contribute too. Creating a new thread for each one seems a tad excessive (for me at least).
  21. Oh R*, you never cease to amaze with your attention to details. Remember FDLS fire engines with FDLC badges. LSPD vehicles with LCPD computer background, or white Sheriff Cruisers but Panda Sheriff SUVs?
  22. Could be, though this is interesting. I encountered them upon entering the city, and as far as I know I wasn't near any kind of a port... Guess they wandered off and I was too busy to look at the uniforms
  23. I'm really sorry for the LSPP, so many cool units yet so rare being employed. I mean, why would I be running inside the port ._.
  24. Nice :) I'm not really into bikes so I never got to remember any model names apart from the famous PCJ and Sanchez back in SA.
