  1. It seems pretty obvious to me that there is definitely some merit to his claims.  If history teaches us anything, its that the LAPD do have a tendency to act aggressively and violently towards people, and I can easily believe that this sergeant did indeed kick the guy in the head (especially if they are firing on innocents).  It would be nice if it could get the widespread media coverage its getting without him having to kill people though, which is obviously the wrong way for him to go about clearing his name.  I suspect that one day his claims will be proven true, its just wrong that a serial killing spree is the method of publicity he's chosen.  Hopefully there's a peaceful end to this which doesn't result in anyone else, including the gunman, dying.
  2.   The negative reps were starting to annoy us all really, we were getting a lot of complaints about people purposefully trying to troll using the rep system and it just didn't make sense to keep it.  Hopefully with the positive rep only option, we'll be able to spend less time dealing with that sort of childish stuff but at the same time still allow people to give their thanks or appreciation for things.
  3. If you're going to go around trolling then you can expect to face consequences for it really. We're not too big on people going around parading their egos and giving others their stuck up attitude and when we something like it, we try to figure it out and put a stop to it. When you develop this attitude towards our staff that volunteer their time to moderate this community, I'm pretty sure most people here will agree with me that you don't really deserve to be here:
  4. Sam posted a gallery image in GTA IV Galleries
  5. This section is only for LCPDFR related pictures/videos, post things like this in the GTA IV gameplay modifications section next time.  Moved.
  6. This isn't related to LCPDFR, use the right section (GTA IV support) next time.   Moved.
  7. Can you add an in-game screenshot of this?  Thanks.
  8. Really sad because it looks like a great sequel to SC4 :( Call me stuck-up or whatever, but I like the idea of having the cities and stuff stored on my PC, not EA's servers, and I like the idea of buying the game, not the game plus mandatory Origin installation, registration and activation (and them I'm assuming that I have to be running Origin while playing the game, while being connected to the internet, and god forbid what would happen if my internet connection or the server dropped). It stinks really, especially given the PR spin they've put on it with things like "this is a cloud computing powered game and it needs our servers to do the work because your PC can't handle it" - http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/The-Benefits-of-Live-Service I know my i5 3570k at 4.2 GHz is a little bit old, but I think it would blow your server with "100,000" other SimCity instances and processes on it out of the park.
  9. I really like the look of the game, and I'm a big Sim City fan, but simply the fact that I'd have to make an Origin account and then be permanently connected to the internet is enough to stop me from buying the game.  I understand that they're concerned about piracy, but release it on Steam and I'll buy it - its that simple.  Release it as a boxed copy without requiring an Origin account and permanent connection and I'd probably buy it too.   I want to play SimCity, not SimCity the MMO with Origin :(
  10. [banner]i.imgur.com/wHlFz.jpg[/banner] 2012 Christmas Community Contest Winners The winners of the contest have been decided. We had fewer entries than we would have liked, although this is probably to be expected given the short time frame. All of the entries are now available for download. Winning Entries Vehicle Models 1st. EVI's South Pole PD Charger () 2nd. NickieB's Christmas Tree Contest Charger (http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/1872-contest-charger/) 3rd. 00Stevo's Green/Red Vision () Vehicle Textures 1st. K-9 police 9's Liberty City skyline skin () 2nd. Jerbell92's Santa Tracker skin () 3rd. Bonehead's Christmas Skin () Notes Prizes will be issued within the next day or two, all of the winners will be contacted by personal message beforehand, confirming their prize and in the case of 1st place prizes, confirming Steam details. Unfortunately, 5 entries were disqualified for not following the clearly set out rules - this really decreased the range of competition and the quality of the contest overall. Overall, we're slightly disappointed with the number of entries and the overall quality, however we do still intend on hosting future events and competitions, which we hope will be better having taken into consideration the flaws of this one. Lastly, congratulations to the winners, and thanks to everyone who submitted an entry.
  11. COMMUNITY GUIDELINES UPDATES - 15 JANUARY 2013 The following updates have been made to the community guidelines: Substantial Changes The Community Guidelines have been significantly changed, given below is a brief summary: New rules regarding discrimination have been introduced to replace the vague text on racism - we won't tolerate any forms of discrimination, be that racism, sexism or anything else. Clearer text on credits and acknowledgements has been introduced - you should always credit and acknowledge contributors to anything you share. Some clear restrictions on things which cannot be shared on our network have been added to further protect our users - don't post or share viruses, malware, etc. Clearer text on our single account policy - you must only operate one account on each of our communities. Clearer text on advertising - we allow you to advertise on your profile and signature, but nowhere else without permission or unless otherwise stated. Website and community specific terms have been removed. As this is a fairly substantial change, we recommend that you read over the guidelines again, here: http://www.lcpdfr.com/forum-0/announcement-1-community-guidelines/
  12. COMMUNITY GUIDELINES UPDATES - 13 OCTOBER 2012 The following updates have been made to the community guidelines: Profanity, Nudity, Gore & Pornography Swearing (profanity) is to be kept to a minimum. This means that only very infrequent profane comments will be tolerated and that the comments themselves must be mild in nature. Swearing in an abusive fashion falls under abusive behaviour and is strictly prohibited. Pornography and gore are strictly prohibited across all G17 Media web services. Examples of this include posting pictures or videos of sexual acts or gruesome scenes. These rules do not apply as such to screenshots from games, so long as there are no fully or partially nude depictions of sex. Full nudity is not permitted on any G17 Media website. This applies only to pictures and videos containing actual nudity where genitalia is partially or fully visible. Absolutely no nudity of persons under 18 is allowed. Images of models wearing underwear and lingerie are acceptable, as are those where no genitals are partially or fully visible. Censored nudity (things like blurs and black lines) is prohibited. Yes, we do understand that GTA is for adults, although it is very likely that a majority of users here are actually under 18. We want to maintain a healthy atmosphere and keep the website accessible to everyone. You come to LCPDFR.com for the best in GTA modding, not porn. Again, things like "hot chick" threads are still permissible, it's just that there can be no full nudity or pornography as explained above. Advertising All forms of advertising are prohibited by default throughout all G17 Media websites, with the following exceptions: Profiles - you may freely advertise anything on your profile page, so long as it does not violate any other aspect of the Community Gudelines Signatures - you may add a link, image or text to your signature in order to advertise a clan, community, mod or other GTA-related media. Designated Topics - there are several designated topics for specific advertisements, such as the "List of Roleplay Clans" where clan leaders may advertise their clan - Other Languages Forums In a miscellaneous update, Sgt. Jackson and Interference have been appointed as forum moderators of the French and Dutch forum sections respectively. They are solely responsible for moderation of their forum, and nothing else. Only if you have a problem or issue regarding their specific forums should you contact them regarding forum moderation - for anything else, contact a global moderator.
  13. We'll reveal the winners on Tuesday at 22:00 GMT.
  14. The winners of the contest will be announced within the next few days.
  15. We've closed the category now.  Thanks to everyone who has entered something, we'll pick the winners and whatnot shortly after the 1st. Nothing to see here! This topic has been closed by G17 Media staff. If you feel that this topic has been closed in error, please report this post.
  16. This is really cool.  Good job.
  17.   If you modeled the lights yourself or UV mapped or otherwise made some significant alteration to the parts of the vehicle it would be fine.  It would need to look more like a Christmas tree than a police car though.
  18.   After the competition, all the models submitted will be made publicly available (although you can lock them/remove source code at that point).   It has to be submitted by a person, not a team.
  19.   Upload it with the model or a link to the model.   That's for you to figure out really, it has to have some relevance though.  Christmas themed paintjob, trees, lights, etc.
  20.   No.  When the mods are submitted they are automatically hidden to everyone but staff.
  21. [banner]i.imgur.com/wHlFz.jpg[/banner] 2012 Christmas Community Contest As the festive season is here and whatnot, we decided it would be a good idea to try something new in regards to some sort of contest. A few years ago back on GPM, a few of the staff here and myself ran something fairly similar and it was quite popular. Seeing as LCPDFR.com is now the biggest modding site out there, it seems fairly appropriate that we hold some sort of competition where all of our members will be able to submit their vehicle models, textures, player/ped mods and scripts to be judged by the LCPDFR Community Team. We will most likely reveal the winners shortly before the new year. Contest Categories Vehicle Models Any vehicle models which you've made may be submitted in this category. To be eligible, your model must be fully compliant with our normal downloads rules, and you must have had substantial involvement with the creation of the vehicle (more than just moving around things or putting a lightbar on something). Vehicle Textures We're also accepting submissions of vehicle textures for this second category. All submissions must be your own work and adhere to our normal rules. Player & Ped Mods If you're good at making player/ped mods, you can submit them to this third category. Again, you need to have had substantial involvement with the creation of the mod, and it has to comply with our normal rules. Script Mods Finally, we're also accepting submissions of script modifications. This has to be your own work and again, all normal rules apply. Contest Rules In addition to the rules stated above for the categories, the following rules apply: All submissions must be unlocked/open-source (obviously this is so we can judge them more effectively, they do not need to be released like this) Plagiarism or any other forms of cheating will result in sanctions being imposed on your account and disqualification. All submissions must have some sort of Christmas/new year theme to them. It's up to you how you want to achieve this. Submissions must be created exclusively for the contest - you cannot submit previously released work. You can only submit one contest entry. Judging Process Your submissions will be judged by select members the LCPDFR Community Team and Development Team. All submissions will be rated out of 10, the one with the highest rating in each category will win. Submission Deadline The deadline for submissions is December 24th, 2012. Prizes Prizes will be awarded for the first place, second place and third place entry in each category. We may also award prizes to everyone that participates in the contest. 1st Place: 1x Steam Copy of Defcon You will be gifted a Steam copy of the award winning game Defcon by Introversion Software. (See: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RSZM_T7JgM). In addition to this, you'll get to team up with the other 1st place winners, facing off against members of the LCPDFR Community and Development teams. (You get the other two prizes as well and needless to say, you must have a Steam account to be eligible) 2nd Place: LCPDFR Community Award You'll get a LCPDFR Community Award badge added to your profile. (You get the third-place prize as well) 3rd Place: 15 Reputation Points Your profile will have 15 reputation points added to it. Submission Guide To submit a contest entry, upload it to the relevant category inside the Christmas Contest section, just like any other mod. http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/category/35-christmas-contest/
  22. Huh? LCPDFR has only been going for 3 years?
  23. Forces are headed up by a chief constable, who has a deputy chief constable, then 2 or 3 assistant chief constables, chief superintendents, superintendents, inspectors, sergeants and then constables/officers. All of these are sworn police officers if you like. In England and Wales, there are also now commissioners, who are effectively elected politicians and supposedly do not have any control over operational matters.
  24. He doesn't, he's just not wearing a belt and has the stuff stored in pouches.
