I think I will release PoliceHelper with world and traffic events before full version with also callouts. For now there are not many bugs reported, but I still have 4 event to script and 3(!) new tools for them. Too bad I'm not sure if they are possible :D

That was a busy day. I've managed to create robbery event. It will create robberies on hot dog, magazine and other sellers. Don't worry, not every robber shoots his victims. Almost every event has some variations to make it more alive.
Still two world event and one other event to finish my list. I still have huge problems with tools that I was talking about last time. I hope I'll manage to solve this next week.

Great now I can do an occasional foot patrol!

All world and traffic events will work also when you are in your cruiser. Only other events (directions help, being fabulous and one more) will be available only on foot :)
 

So what kind of traffic events will these be? Road rage incidents?

Reckless drivers, speeders (hard to spot as they can be blocked by other traffic), drunk drivers, morons driving without lights at night and bikers without helmets. Road rage is planned for callouts section that will not be available in next version of PH.

Admittedly, I haven't kept up with this thread nearly as much as I should have, but you've done an incredible job, Abraxas.  I cannot even sum up how much you've done for the GTA IV LCPD modding scene let alone how much more enjoyable you've made the game as a whole. Can't wait for the release. :D

It actually seems to be quite common.  For Christmas I was lucky enough to obtain a police scanner and have been listening to the transmissions of my local NYPD precinct for quite some time now.  The most common calls seem to be disputes, robberies/burglaries, assaults, ambulance cases [in which paramedics request police backup, usually because of uncooperative patients/people on scene or a need to block things off], vehicle accidents, stolen vehicles, etc.

 

If you like I could collect a comprehensive list over a listening period of a few weeks for you. :D

For example, I want to make prisoner transport call. Transport from crime scene to police station is obvious, from prison to hospital too, but form one police station to the other? I'm not sue if this is realistic. That's why examples and detailed descriptions are priceless for me.

I'll see if I can get on that list then.  And you're right; I doubt they'd be transferring a perp from one precinct to another - it is more likely from a precinct to a more secure jail-specific location or something of the sort. 

So for now routes for prisoner transport are:
crime scene -> police station
police station -> prison
prison -> court (this one is a problem, court in aldernay and court in broker, loooong ride)
prison -> hospital
court -> prison
hospital -> prison

it would be like the real world counter Parts

Being a cop in real life is not always fun and glamorous  either there  are days when you'll be stuck behind a desk, doing intake etc

not always about shoot outs car chases etc.

Thanks. Escort mission is plausible, but I won't confirm any callout before making 100% sure that it is possible to script.

I'll keep it. Player can always cancel callout, so I don't think it's a problem. I try to make it quite realistic but without taking out the fun of normal gaming, something balanced. That's why there will be such hardcore world event like shots fire but it will happen only in really bad neighbourhoods. You won't get two grandmas fighting. Drunk? Maybe but not fighting or stealing. 

I would love to script disputes but I have no idea how. It's such a dynamic and varied thing that I doubt it could be scripted to be quite life like.

Phew, That was hard to script, but I've done it. It still needs some polishing and tweaking and has some small issues but bassicaly it works. What is it? I needed a tool for arson events / callouts. First of all GTA firemen are stupid. They don't care about burning cars or fires created by scripts. But with some workarounds  and tricks I've managed to create burning cars that are visible for GTA firemen. No matter if you call them by LCPD:FR computer, or PoliceHelper they should try to extinguish burning cars.

But that's not all. Now every LCPD officer will be equipped with a fire extinguisher! It works on fires spawned by game (after explosions, molotovs etc). burning cars and burning peds. Fire extinguisher has range of 7-8 meters and lasts 15 s.

Don't get your hopes up. I have no idea if all these features will work online. Fire extinguisher probably will, but events, I don;t know. I don't have time to test it all also in multiplayer and I have no idea how to script for multi.
