Breathalyser script (plus traffic management command)

Featured Replies

I've put together a simple script which can be used to role-play a road-side breath test. A traffic stop isn't complete without a breath test!

At the minute the test will work anywhere close to a vehicle with a driver. The limit is set to the real limit in the UK, namely 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. If a driver blows over the limit (36+) there is a chance they will attempt to flee from you.

Things I'd like to change:

  • Have an ini file to set the legal limit and keys
  • Use pictures (from the MDC) in-game of a breath testing kit with a different display for each result
  • Start only if you're stood beside the driver's door

I've also included two extra commands in the script, one to stop a vehicle and another to allow any vehicles you stop to drive on. If you stop a vehicle in this manner, vehicles to the rear will not attempt to haphazardly over-take. Gone are the days of large-scale incidents being infested by horrible AI driving trying to do everything in their power to get in your way!

It'll be uploaded in due course.

Sounds great. Glad you put in the option to adjust the limit for those of us in the US where the limit is 0.08

I didn't realise the USA's test used a different unit of measurement. The legal limit is 0.08, what unit of measurement is that? Percentage of alcohol in the breath?

Blood alcohol content is usually expressed as a percentage of alcohol (generally in the sense of ethanol) in the blood. For instance, a BAC of 0.10 means that 0.10% (one tenth of one percent) of a person's blood, by volume, is alcohol.

Thanks for that. That is obviously for a blood alcohol test. Don't American cops use breathalysers?

The breathalyser outputs, as far as I know, a reading in the percent scale, anything over .08% being the limit in most states.

I get that. But a breathalyser does not measure anything in the blood rather a person's breath hence the name. Unless it's a guesstimate of the blood-alcohol level determined by the alcohol in the breath.

"Breath analyzers do not directly measure blood alcohol content or concentration, which requires the analysis of a blood sample. Instead, they estimate BAC indirectly by measuring the amount of alcohol in one's breath." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breathalyzer

Would you be able to use a PBT with this script?

That's what I'm trying to tell you. The cops here use breathalysers and those measure alcohol content in breath, and that is directly related to the amount in the blood so it can produce a measurement from that.

Yeah we also refer to it as the percentage here in Australia, the legal limit for a full-licensed driver being 0.05 BAC.

Another really exciting policing script, why are we lucky enough to have such an influx of these recently?
