LCPD:FR Broken after GTA IV update (Patch 8)

Rockstar released an update for GTA:IV yesterday (https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/235650888) after over 6 years without an update. As expected, LCPD:FR won't load now. It looks like AdvancedHookInit.asi isn't working with the new version, nor is ScriptHook or ScriptHookDotNet. I attached the logs for AdvancedHookInit and ScriptHook. In theory, all that should be needed is an update to them to match the latest game version number (probably 1.0.8.0), and they should work fine. Unless Rockstar decided to sneak in some anti-mod countermeasures to mess with everyone.

No, there will be a lot more involved than updating them to match a version number string. Memory addresses will have changed, and the structure of the application will have.

I wouldn't count on an LCPDFR/AdvancedHook update in the near to mid future, even if ScriptHook/SHDN manage to update -- all of our resources are firmly committed to GTA V and other projects. You'll have to revert to a backed up version, prior to the update.

Not going to lie. Super pissed off about the update. Anyways, I don't have a backed up clean copy like I normally do. If I get a copy of a clean directory of the old version from a friend, and use my own GTA IV Key, will it work?

I haven't had time to look at the update, but you might just need the GTAIV.exe from the Patch 7 update for all script related modifications to work properly again, it's worth a try.

LCPDFR is way better than lspdfr by a far shot. I would love to get back into this. If some one to can find a fix that will work with the new patch would be great.

Just a random thought is it lcpdfr or script hook thats the issue?

Most likely the various scripthooks.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

Well I have the Steam version of the game. After the patch was released it wasn't just my LCPD:FR that stopped working, but the entire game itself (as my computers User Account Control closed the game every time I tried to run it). However, I installed this: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145406--May-28-2010-Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Patch-7-Title-Update-v-1-0-7-0-English-1-0-6-1-Russian-1-0-5-2-Japanese- and now almost everything is back to normal, I just had to reset my graphic options and edit the emissive light values for ELS again. However I had to log on without Social Club (Play Offline) so I imagine playing LCPD:FR multiplayer is not going to be possible unless you use a third-party multiplayer client.

Hey.

I've never played LCPD:FR until now. Though I still remember how much I wanted to try it and recently I got over that Patch 8 problem. I have steam edition.

There might be somebody who is experiencing the same problem and who doesnt want to wait, so sorry if that is the wrong thread to post to.

Here is what I've done to get it working.

First you need to downgrade to 1.0.7.0, of course. All suggestions to download the Title update patch from Rockstar didnt work for me. The problem was that none of the both installers could locate the game. So I found the link to the extracted content of the update: Boom.  Once you download it you will have to copy and replace these files to your original "GTAIV" folder. In-game you'll probably run into 800x600 resolution and Resource usage bug, here is the Youtube vid that should help. Fiddle with "-availablevidmem" numbers though, it doesnt display correct all the time. Don't exceed your real memory.

Install LCPD:FR into your GTAIV folder. It might want to create one more folder inside it, but you need to choose exactly GTAIV. Also make sure you have the x86 version of this Microsoft Visual. If it states Repair or cancel, then press Repair. After all this you might wanna check if everything is ok. Find the LCPDFR folder inside GTAIV, there will be a diagnosis tool. Run a diagnosis, and if everything except Log check is green, then you're cool and can press Alt+P to start playing. I dont know how fatal Log check is, but everything works fine for me. One more thing: you should probably connect to GFWL when playing and not from the main menu, I had my game frozen after this.

Again, just in case nobody has already posted his/her effective solutions and I didnt just waste my time flooding.

Hope this helps. Cheers.
