[REL] Coastal Callouts Discussion Thread

No? Basic understanding of what it requires to make a mod this complex would be sufficient. There's a reason that AAA devs dont churn out franchise titles every 3rd month. Development takes a while. Modelling takes a while.

Also, choochoo all aboard the bandwagon!

You shouldn't judge over people you know nothing about. I am a professional software developer and yes I know about the effort. Again, I did NOT complain, it was just a question! I develop script mods too. Come visit me over at gta5-mods.com (same nickname) and see for yourself.

I did not judge. I explained to you why its taking so long. You shouldn't loop me in with the other jackoffs :P

I simply said that all you have to do is use a tad of common sense and actually look at the posts by Parks in this thread and you'd see the progress actually made. And I can say this as well, there are things that Parks is working on right now that he hasn't made public. Things that'll be vital to the future of the mod.

@Cyron43 I post progress updates here whenever I complete or make progress on adding a significant feature. That ends up being about every 2 weeks that I post an update. If you go through and look at the history you'll see it's been a slow but steady progression. The mod's still under development, it'll still be released when it's ready, and it's still not ready yet. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Parks, Thanks for the fantastic work you have put into this mod, really eager to see the progress you have made!

Quick note, I work in the Merchant Navy and I have had to deal with the US coastguard during their regular Port State inspections when our ships berth in New Orleans.

This pretty involves a coast guard team coming onboard to check crew documentation, checks on deck (for example life saving equipment) and finally a drug search.

Possible idea for a callout could be to inspect various ships moored up in the harbour to simulate a Port state inspection. Any problems found can lead to ship being detained.

More information can be found here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_State_Control

I understand if this is complex but if it could be done, it will definately add more depth into the mod.

Finally, I was so eager, I couldn't wait any longer and donated to the Benifactor program, look forward to hearing from you soon!

Progress update:

The new config system has been implemented now for the helicopter features as well. It was a painful process, but I'm very pleased with the result, and I think you all will be too once you get your hands on this! The door is now open to international pack development, as all units can be configured.

My next major step is to create a new ped grab/drag system. Currently I rely on the Arrest Manager grab function, and while it works well overall, I need something that will let the user grab dead peds, and give me more control over the grabbed ped. I'm still experimenting with this, especially the animations which are very hard to get right. My initial testing has gone well so far though. The new grab system will also tie in with the helicopter hoist, allowing for dual hoists for tricky rescue situations:

I made an account just to tell you how fantastic of a job you're doing. I've been in the USCG for a little over 6 years and I'm a Coxswain on the RB-S and yours looks great. I was curious if there was some way to make it so you can tow vessels in the Mod. Say you get a call of a disabled vessel in danger of running aground, or disabled in the channel. Anyways, keep up the great work, and if you need any help with authenticity I'd love to help!

Towing is already built in, and there's even a callout already with the exact title of "Disabled Vessel"! Check out this video for an example of towing with the RB-S:

great progress is being made I have enjoyed being a parks benefactor member now for around correct me if wrong on this parks about 6 months and have seen almost weekly updates to us to see how things are developing so the early access donation and true support of pnw parks is well worth it obviously we must keep things confidential unless specifically told ion our videos etc that we can showcase these things parks is also very particular as to who he allows a license to be able to record/live-stream the mod so yeah please continue to be patient great strides are being made and yes while it may be true that the mod is now becoming pretty polished up for early access pnw parks fan has stated previously the reason that it is not ready yet for public release is that it is a bitch to install everything manually and so he wants to sort out a automated installer system probably using say a oiv files or files to install the many bits such as dlc then you have all the scripts and sfx files etc so once this is done and fully tested by beta users to report back on any bugs and potential pitfalls that will only gain more people bitching then I am sure he will release this publicly and so be assured when he does release this publicly it will be fully ready for public consumption so please all cool your horses and allow him to do his fine work on this mod also please bear in mind as parks has said he does a full days work then before he allows himself to sleep etc he does spend a minimum of 2 hours developing this project and upto about 6 hours a night this in itself has no doubt from lack of sleep affecting his health also so he has been very self sacrificing specifically because he wants to have everyone enjoy his mod project.

Hi everyone!

Now, you're probably wondering who I am! Well my name is Markey and I  create skins for GTA. I am happy to announce I am currently working alongside Parks to get a certain batch of skins completed. For countries outside of Europe, or more specifically the UK, this will not mean much to you.

However I am very happy to announce I am creating the official British aspect of Coastal Callouts!

I aim for a release alongside the official coastal Callouts, however nothing is set in stone as of now. I will likely release a few unrelated skins in the upcoming week as examples of my work, but yet again nothing is set in stone.

If you have any requests for any British skins for Coastal Callouts, just pop them down below and I will aim to answer all of them and possibly complete some!

Anyway, here are a few screenshots for you to enjoy!

Apologies for how zoomed out they are, will get some better pictures for another date :D

Please note that all skins are WIP and do not represent the final product. Also note that these skins are Semi-realistic. Due to lack of resources and models, these skins are loosly based off of their real life counterparts.

Considering purchasing an  ALIENWARE 13 computer. Will it be able to run costal callouts?

Coastal Callouts works best on a machine that can maintain stable 45+ FPS with LSPDFR running. It looks like the Alienware 13 is a laptop. I don't recommend gaming laptops for modding - the performance to cost ratio is just too low. For the ~$1k starting price you could build your own awesome gaming PC that could run GTA at 60 FPS no problem. Laptops overheat easily, are difficult and expensive to upgrade, and are never as powerful as desktops.

I run a high-end gaming laptop and get a stable 75fps with a fully modded game, which includes graphics mods and an ENB..  I've never had overheating issues.  Laptops may not be ideal for gaming, but if you get the right brand and spend the right price, you can get a good, stable rig.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

It's certainly possible to get decent performance on a laptop, but the cost-to-performance ratio is abysmal. With a desktop you can keep upgrading components over the years, and it's much cheaper. I stand by my statement that a gaming laptop isn't a good investment for someone who wants to play LSPDFR mods. Anyways, if people want to discuss PC specs in more detail, there's other sub forums here which are more tailored to that. Coastal Callouts will run if LSPDFR will run, but some of the boat physics in particular doesn't work right if your FPS is below about 30, and mods always do decrease the FPS, so that's something to keep in mind with regards to specs.

What brand do you recommend? What about an alienwear 17
