Some thieves tries to steal some tires off a truck, gun owner comes out and shot one of the man, sadly they're still on the loose.

 

Dallas police said a homeowner fired several shots at two people who were trying to steal the tires off his truck Wednesday morning, possibly hitting one.

 

Two people tried to steal the tires off a truck parked outside a home in the 4000 block of Old Glory Drive at about 3:30 a.m., according to police.

 

The truck's owner saw the thieves and fired several shots at them as they tried to escape in a GMC SUV. Police said the thieves then crashed the truck and ran away.

Gotta love Texas justice.  In Seattle they would have hauled the law abiding homeowner off to jail and given the thieves free medical care and an apology..

Not worth it or smart,  it'll just get you in trouble.  But I could understand his anger in the moment and if I was on the jury I would let him go.

I guess every crime is punishable by death as long as you have a gun. Apparently that's how our justice system works...?

Oh look, you're back, come on now a warning shot will suffice, you don't have to shoot the guy. 

I sorta think that this is an overkill. You know, in courts they ask for lil things called "evidence" if you try to accuse a person and all before they issue a sentence. Here the guy was going to become a cop, a judge, and an executioner. In Russia we would charge him immediately alongside with the thieves. 

 People do have the right to protect themselves and their property, but I believe the "don't steal" rule is balanced by the "don't kill" rule. You house is being invaded, you are threatened with a weapon, you fear for your life? Reach for your gun. Your tires are being stolen, your neighbor is dumping trash on your lawn, a kid is pissing on your wall? Get the cops.

That's a tad overkill, even for a Texan. Yes, the law says you can shoot anyone trespassing on your property, but that's only after shouting a warning to leave. (Warning shots do not count.)
