Law enforcement agencies feel incomplete?

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if it's just me who thinks this but I feel there's still things that could have been done to the law enforcement agencies to make them feel more complete. This is mainly about the vanilla version of the game but here's just a few observations that make me wonder why R* made these quirky decisions.

* Sheriff station in the middle of Los Santos

* Highway patrol bike but no highway patrol car

* No San Andreas Highway Patrol stations or outposts

The list could go on forever but these are just a few examples. I would love to know what you guys think so this could be an interesting discussion.

The last two I agree with, but for the first, sheriffs are county-wide(where I'm from, idk if its the same for everywhere). Technically, the city is considered its own county(there are 3 counties, theres a map online somewhere), therefore it having it's own sheriff makes sense.

It's a crime simulator - Not a police simulator. Not much emphasis is put on making the police aspect as realistic as possible. Many people seem to forget that the policing community of GTA is quite small in comparasion to those who play it "as it is supposed to be played". The attention to detail on wordly things is amazing, and so is the crime aspect. Now, one might argue that they should improve the policing scene, but again, not many people care as much as we do.

We should just be glad we got what we got; Quite the selection.

Agreed. What we have now is a major step up from IV. Not only in policing, but also far better performance.

I disagree with a major step up from IV, in terms of policing. GTA IV had the police actually doing police things (arresting people) and so on.

Yea I agree, suppose that makes a lot of sense. It is thought provoking though playing a crime focused game from the perspective of a police officer so one tends to wonder about these things. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't R* leave the arresting animations unfinished?

There is a Sheriff station in LA in real life.

I was referring to the many different agencies and vehicles. Yeah, it was really nice having those ambient pursuits that weren't just cops shooting at people. Sucks that R* rushed through ambient pursuits and made it so they always end with a shooting.

I always was surprised how GTA V combines both attention to the details and lack of this attention. To mention only one cab company per city, shitty Interceptor decal but correct Buffalo and Stanier ones, buses and bus stops but only one tram line which is almost useless (in GTA IV I was at least able to reach places), police chases, but no arrests, included Taser - but it is lethal, so detailed police response - and Noose uses sheriff and FIB trucks...

As ineseri pointed out, the game is supposedly about killing, blowing up, stealing cars, and all that, and it's really nice that now R* actually didn't forget to add differen tagencies in different places (remember those LCPD cars in Alderney?) This all leaves a huge place for modding for us.

I never knew that. Being from the UK my knowledge on how sheriff agencies operate isn't that great.

When you say 'a' it means one, and together with station not in plural I have to say you're wrong.

There is actually a lot of Sheriffs stations in LA.

Every red thing is a LASD station, so yeah.

Ah yes, my bad thank you for correcting me.

Law Enforcement in this Game should be best described as "A Mixed Bag" in my opinion.

They did some things well, but completely failed in other areas.

The Sheriff's station in the city of Davis is modeled off the Los Angeles County Sheriff's station in Compton, an incorporated city within Los Angeles that contracts with the Sheriff's Office to provide police services within the city. I'm guessing Rockstar had big ambitions with the police aspects of the game but in the end they just released the product half-assed in terms of the police side of things.
