The explorer- it has the "Cop Car" look to it, the sternness in the front fascia and the way it sits on the wheels is aggressive. Better than the soccer-mom mobile imo.

Hardly. I could easily turn that statement around and say that because you like the Explorer that your opinion is worthless. 

Anyway, I digress, SUVs aren't really my thing. I don't mind the '13, '14 and '15 Ford Explorer models, but the 2016 model is just too boxy. I will say one thing though, it beats the Edge. That thing is absolutely hideous.

How I feel about the two vehicles: I do really like the design of the back of the '16 Explorer..

..But I can much better see the 2015 Edge as what the 2013 Explorer should have become. It doesn't quite look like a police car from some angles, but to me it has more of a likeness to the 2013 Taurus, one of my favorites from Ford. That is, except for the back, which is much more like the '13 Fusion:
