Officer Uses car to ram suspect [READ]

Featured Replies

A officer used a car to ram a suspect, that had just fired a round, and was dangerous, what are your thoughts? (Lets keep this from becoming a flame war). I believe he did the correct thing to stop the threat! I also think if someone claimed excessive use of force, they need to be put in that situation see what they need to so, clearly they dont know.

I would do the same thing. I run criminals over all of the time in LCPDFR. But in all seriousness, I think the officer did the right thing.

  • The cop was just getting some practice in for GTA V

  • Although it looks pretty dangerous, this was probably the best most non-lethal safe option. Good thinking from the Officer.

I think he was correct in doing what he did. 'Fight or flight' kicked in, and he went for the suspect instead of getting distance in between them.

Yea, I think if he tried to approached, they would have been shot at or worse.

Great thinking by the officer imo. If they had approached him on foot, the officers probably would've gotten shot, and this guy would've been dead as a result. So this was a quick way of ending the situation without anyone being killed

The officer definitely did what was best for public safety at this point. His means were dangerous to both himself and in the event there were any bystanders near but, I do believe this was a very good call by the officer. May be testing the use of force wheel slightly but I doubt very much anyone would argue with the officer considering he saved at least one life in this action.

Well the suspect was taking an afternoon stroll with a gun, if you got out of the car to approach all he has to do is turn and fire. He did what he did I would've done the same thing. Maybe at a slower speed. Got to keep my Crown Vic in shape.

The Vic will be good, maybe need some blood remover and a little buff out  lol

He shot a weapon, saying freeze goes far out of the window after you fire a round, and walk into a heavily populated area.

No it doesn't. There were better ways to handle that situation.

This is one of those situations where it is going to be a very high risk potential for utter disaster. This could have been dealt with in another way yes, however the result of that may have been even more catastrophic. This is in and of itself testing use of force. However, it may have saved from a greater evil. In this case I am still kind of on the fence. I do think the officer did a good move here however, I do realize that this could have been dealt with differently. Because the suspect was clearly out numbered with at least three officers surrounding him. It is definitely a "coulda woulda shoulda" scenario at this point.
