California Deputies On Leave After Beating

Featured Replies

Ten California deputies have been placed on leave after a video emerged of them tasing and then beating a suspect. Francis Pusok, the suspect, led police on pursuit after he had stolen a horse following a search warrant. The video shows deputies tasing Pusok, and then kicking him in the head and groin region and even beating him with the taser itself. The attack lasted two minutes.

This is absolutely disgusting behaviour from the deputies, those involved should be fired and possibly jailed for their actions. Pusok never resisted during the beating and yet the deputies continued to use excessive force.

Yeah, I was very astonished to see the video clip and what happened. To see officers behave in such a manner his a huge disrespect to the uniform and badge, not to mention the most important thing, the assault on the subject, no matter what the crime that was committed. I really hope there is more action then them going on leave. Def, will be following this story.

Not sure about you guys, but I've been noticing a increase in these types of incidents happening all over. Really sad to see.

It was just plain police brutality. It's like these cops are trying to ruin their image. To be honest here, if he was African-American or black, there'd be much more controversy. The news headlines would read, "White California Sheriff Deputies continuously beat a Black suspect and are put on leave."

That's incredibly sad to see. There is no doubt that emotions run high during a pursuit, and once you get hold of the suspect you can certainly feel anger. But this is never acceptable, and I am disgusted to see this.

I hope that the justice system deals with these officers appropriately.

The police officers should be fired accordinly, disgusting to see this kind of behavior from some police officers, glad to see police who do bad things are finally getting what they deserved.

When will pigs like these guys learn that it isn't 1950 and you can't do this kind of thing? The dramatic increase in police activity being recorded by whatever sources (civilians, body cameras, helicopters, etc.) should be enough to make these guys realize that they can be held accountable for their actions. Hopefully some proper consequences are administered, and not just a typical slap on the wrist.

I really hate the pigs mantra. Jeez.

On topic however, this is unfortunate and the police should know more than ever that they are being watched like hawks in society now. This only continues to degrade any positive work being done by officers in the community.

Maybe when another generation of cops will take their places, this kind of behavior will cease. Here in Russia despite all the police reforms the vast majority of cops are those who served during 90's, when gangs were on the loose and violence was the only way to solve problems. Of course they keep this attitude and pass it t younger officers.

It's this minority of officers that f***s it up for the good ones. And I agree with what Hastings said. All those cops from the late 80s, 90s, early 2000s are FTOs for the next generation. So they pass on their experiences and teach new officers things they've learned over the years. This includes their bias or attitudes towards some groups of people. This doesn't apply to all places, but it can be seen in cities like LA, NYC, and etc.

This is why filming cops is the best thing we can do. This sort of thing used to happen all the time before we had cameras in our phones and on our news helicopters. Keep filming cops, they are public officials and deserve to be held accountable for everything they do. Just because you have a lot of adrenaline going, and you're probably frustrated that you had to chase this guy so long, doesn't mean you can beat the crap out of him when he's not resisting.
