Good Video Recording Software?

Featured Replies

Anyone know a good, working, preferrably free, recording software that works with most fullscreen games? I just got Burnout Paradise to work with my DS4 and would love to record some. Best one I've found so far is the demo of one on steam but it has the website name all over the screen. I've tried that free one that has 3 letters but it doesnt work on full screen games for me

Mirillis Action is amazing, nearly no drop in framerate, can record in any size or any game window, or choose your own window, free trial 30 days. I would buy it if you're doing hard core Youtube as o

You tried OBS? There are a few settings you have to change to get it to work for GTA IV. If you google it you should be able to find the solution. I personally use nvidia shadowplay. It's free w/ GTX 600+ graphics cards.

OBS is the one I tried, do you know the settings? I just want it to work with Burnout Paradise for the moment. I want Shadowplay but I have a GT610, not a GTX. Only GPU is needed for Shadowplay  :wallbash:

EDIT: What should I search exactly, HOW TO GET OBS TO WORK WITH BURNOUT PARADISE and HOW TO GET OBS TO WORK WITH FULL SCREEN GAMES both turned up nothing useful

As has been suggested shadowplay is the only option for good free software, but if it's not available to you then you can't use it obviously.

I use Mirillis Action which is pretty damn good for paid software, you could also try looking for open source streaming software and see if it has recording options.

I don't condone using cracked copies of software, if you were doing recording and planned to try and make something of it pay for it. The cost will be balanced out over time.

I wouldn't recommend it over paid software/solutions, but you can always try Overwolf. I use the programs' overlay is just about all the games I play to help manage Team Speak, Timers, and what not.

I have accidentally hit the key combination to record video on a couple occassions, so I know that it works, and has good video quality at 1080p. However like any other software bound video recorder you will take a hit in your frame rate while recording.

Once my FRAPS trial runs out I'll check it out. I just recorded a session of Burnout, once it's uploaded to YT i'll post a link to it here

Wait, wha?... No way, I have the MSI suite of 'junk' apps installed cause it came with my drivers I don't remember a recording option. I'll investigate and see how it works.

So, moviemaker doesn't support PSV files so I geuss I'll give overwolf a go

This Overwolf is like Steam! I can just launch my games from it! Sweet! Looks like Steam won't be used in a while

First video using Overwatch! I had to stop because when I changed resolution it put me to desktop and I couldn't get back into the game.

It seems that the recording software speeds up parts of the video it thinks aren't important.

You can find free full versions of Fraps on Google. It's by far one of the best recording softwares.

You can do allot of things on google, don't make it right.

I think if they were interested in stealing software they'd just done that instead of investing time looking into legit/legal alternatives.

MSI Afterburner I just tried out, it's probably the least user friendly recording program I've ever used. I'm far from impressed with the performance hit and video quality thus far.
