  1. If you want to go with a pre-built computer from one of the big companies, I'd recommend Asus from personal experience they're hard to beat when it comes to prices, and I've never had a problem with their products. (It's been a few years since I bought one so they might have gone up, but i doubt it.) I've never had an alienware myself, but they're owned by Dell and that makes me very weary of their products. I've owned 3 of Dell's laptops. 2 top of the line XPS and one mid range, they were all junk that suffered from constant part failures... plus like previous poster said Alienware is actually the one company I know of that's way over priced. 5 years ago when I was looking at alienware Asus was selling the same machine for half the price.
  2. That's a high-end CPU it costs about $400, that's half your budget just on a CPU. (To be honest for a gaming rig you don't need anything any where need that powerful...I was originally going to use a low end i5.) If you're going to spend extra money invest in a good GPU it'll make a huge difference over CPU. If you're determined to get something better than the FX-6300, try AMD's FX-8300 it's the same processor that they use in some High end gaming builds and it's under $200. When it comes to debating AMD vs Intel basically if you're price conscious go with AMD, they usually have the best performance to dollar ratio. If you want the fastest processors and are willing to pay extra money then Intel wins hands down. Using PC Partpicker I threw together something like this CPU: AMD FX-8350 - $167 Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX - $134 Memory: Corsair 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3 - $72 GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB - $209 Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB - $53 Case: NZXT Source 220 - $45 Power: Corsair CX 600W - $40 DVD Player: Asus - $17 Windows 8.1 - $97 Total: $794
  3. In a nutshell that's why I personally don't believe in going to church, nor have I ever paid attention to the pope. Any time money is involved there's going to be corruption, churches that broadcast on TV and/or make serious bank just rub me the wrong way... (It seems hyprocritical if you pay attention to the word as written.) However I do think that the mass hatred that allot of atheist show towards religion is unjust, most of the time they want to use Warmongering extremist as a reason against religion. Which is just illogical. If we were to crucify everything that's ever been used as an excuse to get away with murder we'd be in a real mess, and religion wouldn't be the biggest scape goat. Your very words now. Forward-looking individual who believes in the progress of man... Basically that's a polite way of saying any rational human would believe in evolution. Which I would have just left be had it not immediately and for no good reason been followed by. "If you still believe in invisible Sky-god friends then I suggest you re-evaluate your life." ... That's straight forward, and kind of hard to miss-interpret. Skygod friends = God and re-evaluating your life. Well yea you said it. I don't see how that can be taken any other way. What you just said is "If your rational and don't have imaginary friends you will believe in Evolution, and if you do believe in imaginary friends you might want to seek a shrink." I'm not stupid and seeing how you went through so much effort to nicely word your intentions I'm not going to pretend like you are either. So how is that not 1.) Insulting and 2.) No where does that post indicate the reason you're opposed to religion is because a few bad examples out of a few billion has distorted your idea of what religion really is.. A few billion or something like 2/7 of the world's population isn't irrational... It's a widely held belief that's been documented and highly studied for a few thousand years now. In all that time no one can either dis-credit it or prove that it is all completely real. That's why its founded on belief, what you can say and its not really debatable is that the important historical events that are depicted in the bible (I'm not talking walking on water, and miracles, but actual history.) all happened. What I really hate about this thread is the way the OP led this into Religion vs Atheists who's view is right? There's no middle ground here, even though as indicated in this thread more religious minded people believe in the possibility of Evolution then you might think. Science and Religion aren't exclusive things, you can believe in both, anyone who says otherwise is foolish, and i won't even have that winded debate here. There should have been a third option.
  4. I Wish the 960 had been out when I built my machine. That's what $580ish on your build without the heatsink... I like it! (The one issue i had with this build was rediculous high temps and it's a common issue with this CPU/Mobo that they run hot... in hindsight I think it was just the thermal paste that comes from the factory was just awful, but I decided to "nuke" the problem and go with the Evo... $30 to protect a $600 investment is a rationale choice... Also I'm not recommending that particular mobo, not that I've had any problems with it, but if you do your research like 9/10 bad reviews are because of it breaking at high temps when overclocking or upgrading to the 8300... A good mobo is worth the money, I was on a tight budget and decided to gamble with it. Its done fine @ stock speeds for me.)
  5. My current set up is in my signature, I can't give an exact number. But I'd say for the machine I built a couple months back I spent $650 after taxes. Part|Current prices GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 750 | $145 Processor: AMD FX 6300 | $110 Mobo: MSI 970a-G46 | $80 Power: 650-Watt Ultra | $50 Heatsink: Cooler Master 212 Evo | $35 Case: Ultra Defender Mid Tower Case | $70 Memory: PNY 2x4Gb DDR3 | $130 Blu-Ray Drive: LG | $55 Current Price Before tax: $675 *My budget was between $500-$600, I obviously went over, and I already have HDDs and Windows so they're not included in the total cost. If you're on a tight budget and trying to get the most bang for your buck keep an eye out for any sales. That's how I got my bluray drive and a few other extra upgrades in my small budget. As for monitors I have no opinion there. I use tv screens as my display, so that's obviously not in the budget. :P
  6. This might be slightly off topic, but I'll be completely honest I get torn on what to do everytime weapon pops up because depending on what kind of weapon there's different laws that regulate it. A gun isn't always illegal, he could have a permit for it... or he could be a convicted felon carrying a fully auto rifle. Knives are perfectly legal to own, bout the only reason I'd have to prosecute/arrest someone for having it, is if it matches a nearby crime. (Women gets mugged by knife, find suspect a block down running with a knife.) So more clearity on the weapon or information regarding the suspect would be nice there. I think that something similliar for drugs would be cool. How much and what type. Is it just personal consuption or did we nail a dealer. So I guess I'm saying more information on the outcomes could lead to a better sense of variety.
  7. I can't say under oath that I know it's 100% legit, I've ran several scans since and nothings showed up. The mod has an acctive and passionate community so I decided to gamble with it and just see what happens. The thing is a trojan logs all your info and sends it to people so you wouldn't immediately notice your computer acting weird like a virus as it has a different purpose. So at the end of the day that's for you to decide. I have multiple computers, one that's used for personal stuff/finances and I'd never allow foreign programs onto. Then there's my day-to-day computer that I'm a little less thorough with. At the end of the day only you can decide how cautious you want to be about security.
  8. I use norton and had the same thing happen, you could add it to the white list. Or if you want to install it without it ever coming up as infected there's 2 Auto installers. The one marked as alternative is the one to use, I remember reading that they're actually different I think on has ADs and the other doesn't and that's what causes the false alarm.. Or do a manual install there's plenty of documentation.
  9. You're missing the point, let's for the sake of arguement take God out of it. Religion has been around for how many a millennia and at the core ot it what does it represent. Community and Health. I don't see how any logical person would want to rid society of religion it's a great principle that gives people motivation to be the best and most pure version of themselves that they can possibly be, it distills very clear guidelines on how to live your life and interact with other people... I do believe in both evolution and creation.
  10. Fear of dividing a community isn't really grounds for removing a forum, obviously if they're going to get that upset over a subject openly debated on the internet then they were never exactly going to be best of friends to begin with. Aslo the exact opposite isn't being expressed in the forums. A well thought out and carried debate can be a quick way to bring certain types of people together, you don't have to agree with someone's opinion to respect it. At the end of the day everyone knows what they're in for when they click on a forum called politics/society it's not like they're being ambushed. They can ignore the threads very easily. If the forum has to be removed then at the end of the day it speaks volumes about the entire community and what the moderators/staff think of them.. That they can't be left alone without turning everything into an immaturely thought out flame war. That's absolutely an unacceptable response and it doesn't matter where it's posted it shouldn't be tolerated at all. That one line speeks volumes about the poster's mind set and obvious in ability to operate in an environment where people don't see eye to eye with them. It should be considered 'hate speech' and disciplined accordingly. I can't think of any other forums/community I've been apart of that would allow such blatant personal attacks.
  11. That's a pretty big difference, much more than I would have thought. I'm honestly mind blown for the moment, 4096x4096 is a decent sized image. I was thinking you'd hit diminishing returns after a certain size for a small car that's being rendered on a TV Screen/Monitor. The same 2048 image blown up in a photoeditor would show NYPD covering the entire screen with no distortion, you'd have to be zoomed in on the actual letter its self before you'd start seeing jagged pixels like that.. *Edit I'm retarded, after thinking about it some more I realized that in actuality what happens with the reference images is much different in that the actual sample size for the NYPD panel is closer to 300x120 for the 2048x2048 layout. In the 3D environment the closer you get to it the more that small image is going to pixelate as it's being forced into a much larger size as indicated by screen resolution. So 300x120 becomes 1920x1080 for example.
  12. ^^ For the longest while I tried keeping my game as close to vanilla as possible because of the taxi bug. 4k textures seems like it'd be a mess in a game that already suffers from poor memory management. I'd like to see a side by side comparison just for kicks between the default moded texture and the 4k. See just how noticeable a difference it really makes.
  13. That's a grey area. Technically I could say yes, but it'd cost more than buying a new computer. There's no reseller of new laptop gpu's and because how laptops are made you can't just interchange them unless they're made to fit your specific case/mobo. I have how ever seen unofficial mods/devices where people hooked up brand new GPUs externally.
  14. You're officially awesome in my book. As for the doomsday clock... meh we're always on the edge of world extinction, it would be a nice change of pace to wake up one day and see everyone in an uproad because world peace has finally come to pass... I think that was a non-sensical statement, but what ever you get my point.
  15. You can do allot of things on google, don't make it right. I think if they were interested in stealing software they'd just done that instead of investing time looking into legit/legal alternatives. MSI Afterburner I just tried out, it's probably the least user friendly recording program I've ever used. I'm far from impressed with the performance hit and video quality thus far.
  16. Wait, wha?... No way, I have the MSI suite of 'junk' apps installed cause it came with my drivers I don't remember a recording option. I'll investigate and see how it works.
  17. It's on my list... No list would be complete without it, I really wish there was a PC version.
  18. I wouldn't recommend it over paid software/solutions, but you can always try Overwolf. I use the programs' overlay is just about all the games I play to help manage Team Speak, Timers, and what not. I have accidentally hit the key combination to record video on a couple occassions, so I know that it works, and has good video quality at 1080p. However like any other software bound video recorder you will take a hit in your frame rate while recording. http://www.overwolf.com/
  19. I'd say it's that way for most things though I think it's hard for people to truely appreciate and understand what it takes unless you've actually done the work or atelast attempted it before. 3D Modeling is something I have a huge respect for myself, I've attempted on several occassions to learn, but I've never gotten a good grasp of it. The most complex thing i've succusfully finished is a coffe mug.
  20. Use Method 2: File Edits '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> The taser is the only thing I couldn't personally figure out when trying to install LCPDFR 1.0d, absolutely everything else worked and I tried all the various auto-installers, manual installation, compatibility, unchecking read only. I always play as admin so that's already covered... Basically from what i understand for what ever reason LCPDFR is being denied the right to write the lines needed to initiate the taser and add it within the game. (That's why unchecking read only, should theoretically fix the problem, but didn't.) So just grab a text editor change those files according to the post and you should have a working taser. AS ALWAYS BACK UP BEFORE EDITING FILES! *I Missed the post where it said you tried the manual file edits. My bad, please dis-regard my post.
  21. Technically you have like 8 more things listed than I do. I just explained my reasonsing. Also that's a really strong opinion, every other simulator isn't trash. To be fair Euro Truck is just the latest in a series of Semi-Truck Simulators produced by SCS Software several of which were wothy of honorable mention at the time of their relase. Simple fact is for all Euro Truck does right, they still didn't utilize all the good feature SCS has implemented in their previous games. To be completely honest I've spent 3 hours in Euro Truck 2 and I don't see why people really like it that much. Seems almost soul-less and up to this point owning other trucks hasn't been a rewarding/engaging experience, just more numbers being tallied up for you to examine in between runs... Hopefully I'm missing something or more gets unlocked as you play. The X games I listed are very worthy space flight simulators with allot of depth. Sure their combat could have been more fine tuned, and their releases since X2 have become a little too streamlined and user friendly, but it doesn't negate the complexity of their working economy, variety in combat tactics/options (You can be a pirate stealing other space ships, or an enforcer hunting for people smuggling drugs or people in their cargo... Earn enough money you can get your own capital ship and fleet.) The sims is a long standing and widely aknowledged simulation series. While at the surface it honestly seems like playing a doll house they've put allot of time and effort into making their world enjoyable to tinker around in and invest in starting new communities, helping sims live or ruin their lives. (I've tortured one too many sims. ) I could go on, but I'll save us both from having to read another mountain of text...
  22. FRAPs has been around for a long while, I haven't used it in years, but I'm sure they're the go to for best game capture software. As for how many frames you'll lose using fraps, it really depends on your machine. On my laptop i used it on i think i lost atleast 12 frames. Having said that if you have a recent Nvidia card with shadow play, it's friggin beast. It's much more effecient than FRAPs for me... having said that I got several dedicated capture cards, nothing beats having a dedicated device.
  23. Appreciate the input. I'm not 100% on the way the grunge came out covering the car. I know I couldn't leave it looking pretty and stock so that was the first solution I came up with and just rolled with it. It's not shown in the picture, but I should have spent some time on the tag, framing it in. Still it was more of a concept than anything else. I was thinking bout doing a whole set if it came out good. There's not allot of reference material for Judge cars, so I think I'll just leave the idea alone until I come up with a better layout to try.
  24. I was reading an article about this announcement earlier, I'm actually excited that it's going to be a free upgrade after the mess that is Windows 8. I'm so glad they're bringing a real start menu back.
  25. '> My first GTA 4 skin very loosely based off Dredd.
