  • Just to let everyone know, we will be working on this as a team, all of us, after the release of 0.95, which won't be too far away.

  • The possibilities offered by this are only really restricted in terms of how much I can code in. Basically, you have a system where you are just drawing lights at a position within the game, so the t

Hi.

I don't know if you already talked about it, but

@Sam: PLEASE reupload your Illumination Mod v1!

I think everybody would much appreciate it, and it makes waiting for v2 alot easier!

Please!

Thank you =)

I doubt Sam will re-release Illumination 1.0 as it had some serious issues. The lighting though in game looks awesome thats one of the reasons I asked him to consider updating that specific script. If you notice below the radian lightbar and similar "slim lightbars" are at a different height then the mapped locations of the Illumination script lights. The picture on the right is a Code 3 Javelin and is taller which displays the lighting more accurately. With the ability to adjust where the lighting is displayed you'll be able to map lights to any vehicle and lightbar configuration. Illumination 1.0 was really limited to CVPI models with the larger/taller lightbars.

I know it had issues.

But he had released it in 2010, and it was a nice mod.

Everybody could decide if he wants to use it, or not.

Sure, its not my decision, but I personally don't see the point of why not reuploading it.

It was already released, and it would make it easier to wait for v2.0.

Don't take it as a personal offence, but I hate it if people introduce awesome stuff...

... and then say "It will take a while, need to work on other stuff" and also delete the old versions...

@Sam: PLEASE reupload it!

Thanks you!

getting people amped for it i'm pretty sure is the whole point of showing it off and not releasing it, it has to be perfected first, plus you don't want a mod that's got lot's of bugs do you?

Some suggestions for V2.0:

-Flashing and rotating lights

-possibility to pre-select different light modes for different vehicles (police, police2 etc)

-One button for toggeling the light and one additionally for switching light modes (I personally hate it, if you need to switch through 3 or 4 totally different modes to switch off/on)

-Maybe some kind of "information display" like ELS. Maybe a very simple "LED-Light" at the bottom right or so would be enough. But something that indicates you the lights are on/off.

-Possibility to switch on siren with a seperate button (maybe different sirens)

Hmm. I personally would prefer to play a bugged version and get updates, instead of waiting "a long time" until the "perfect" version gets released...

I have made this experience in a bigger Mod-Project (Stargate Mod for HL2). They are developing for about ~5 years, without realeasing any betas or anything. Only news every ~3/4 month. Now "nobody" cares about the mod anymore.

I really prefer to give people something to play with. Then they have constantly updates and new functions they can wait for.

But anyways.

To any of the dev's working on this,

Will this be released in stages like ELS? ELS started quite simple and with each version added more and more capabilities, but I think most wouldn't mind a simple script to start that gives us a good base for most vehicles.

Also in light of the recent release of Corleone's boat, and I know other modelers have wanted to pursue similar projects (if ELS was compatible), will your script work on boats?

If that's your thing then no lol

@Ridgerunner- Would be pretty cool if that happened, then again, ELS has ALOT of issues that were never worked out, was just released, added part's and released.

Sounds like it's going to be awesome, and also some hints of RC3 being close, got to enjoy that. I hate the buggyness of ELS, and this mod sounds like the perfect alternative, it does sound a little unfriendly to adding the lights in older car mods, but once released I am sure that the newer cars will be released with this information already in their files as the needs of the many demand it.

But with older cars, I'm sure once it is released modders for groups will quickly have the cars set up for this mod and all members in that group will get the updated files without having to find them out themselves.

are you going to make the mod look close to enb like neolux? i really love his enb but i dont like the extra load it puts on the system would also be cool if you could change the shade of the lights to more red and blue without having to change the contrast

well "in the works" might be the wrong term for it. As the Op stated, he won't start working on it until he is finished working on LCPD:FR 0.95 Final, so it could be a good 5 -6 months away at minimum :)

Just stumbled across this thread; I must say that this is a fantastic endeavor to take after the completion of 0.95. I wouldn't regret replacing ELS in a heartbeat based upon the information here though a quick question. In what functions will Illumination 2.0 be different from ELS, aside from not having to create textures to map lights on vehicles?
