Every non Canadian here seems to forget where this took place, CANADA, where this stuff just doesn't happen, not everyone has a gun.. I've seized cars for the Police that were weapons related but it's generally young people that do this stuff & it's generally a sawed off type or handguns, VERY rare you hear about anything classed higher then that, I remember a few years ago my ex gf's friend shot full of holes with a AK & that was a huge thing for months, terrorism seems to be getting to be a big thing now, I'm not one for violence, but if some Jihaddist extremist came my way, I wouldn't think twice about putting 1 between his eyes..

Its interesting to see many of the other big cities throughout Canada are beefing up security presence. Here in Toronto, I saw a few armed police officers walking up and down my subway train. This was in addition to police officers on every subway stop in the downtown core.

Great images man, why just look at how heavily they blocked that door inside the Parliament House.

Extra police officers and security services were called in and around our parliament buildings here in Western Australia after news broke of this attack.

In atrocities like this, it's important to remember the victims and not the perpetrators. Rest in peace Corporal Nathan Cirillo. You will not be forgotten.

Just some turnstiles that could slow the guy down and allow hall security to aim certainly don't cost that much.

Not sure what kind of train systems they have in Russia but here in the U.S. and many other countries we have turnstiles and if someone wants to get past them without paying they just jump over them. I doubt a turnstile would have slowed a gunman down, he would have just hopped over it and continue on his way.

What I meant was the Canada Gov. won't put money towards security check points, unless they are needed.

The Canadian Gov. security isn't as big or well funded as the US counterparts.

Are these facts or are you just making big assumptions?

US Secret Service: $1.80 Billion budget

RCMP Protective Policing Service: Can't find the info.

Sometimes they are installed in buildings too, and modern models are constructed to prevent any kind of unauthorized passage, except plain breakthrough. And actually you won't get too far from the entrance since most of the doors are locked. On the other hand, the Western world is much more open towards people.

My point exactly.

You must be talking about a different kind of turnstile than me. My point is that unless you go all out on the security features there will be very little that will stop a determined gunman from getting into a building.

Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was from my city(Hamilton) and I know many people that knew him and they all said he was a great man. It is sad to see anybody go like this but to shoot a soldier in front of a war memorial is so disgusting. Cpl Cirillo is currently on route to Hamilton on the 401 which is also the Highway of Heroes. Heres a link to some of the pictures of the journey they are pretty touching and make me proud to be a Canadian. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/10/24/nathan-cirillo-highway-of-heroes-photos_n_6043546.html
