Hmm.. any other recommendations for a GPU? No ATI please, I like nVIDIA :)

For many years I only ever had Nvidia GFX cards and I never had an issue. But last PC I built at the time I didn't like what was on offer. They had heat and noise issues that put me off. Long story short I would never concider ATI until then but I am now converted. My ATI card lets me force some amount of AA on GTA IV for example and it runs quiet and cool.

Just don't rule them out altogether.

Also pound for pound I think I got more GFX power than what was on offer from Nvidia at the time in the same price range. I am out of the loop on todays GFX cards but last year ATI for me was the best option imo.

Yeah, It emits a very high frequency noise, when your PC is turned both on or off...... There is no fix and I sent mine back for a replacement to find the new one had the same problem. Theres load of complaints on the net, heres some links...

Seriously no good if you're looking for a silent set up like mine was supposed to be.. Especially when my PC is in my room and I'm trying to sleep and all you can here is this noise!

EDIT: Also if you plan to RMA it they ask you to send it to the Netherlands corsair center!

I feel sorry for you Justin.

People who knows about computers would never in their life buy a shop built PC, a rule of thumb is that you can get a substantially (+10%-15%) better machine if you build it yourself, or get a mate to do so, a pizza bribe + a pint or two works wonders, compared to a shop build one, plus you won't have all that bloatware that we all know from laptops.

This was Back in 09 BEFORE I KNEW ANYTHING OF CUSTOM BUILT PCs, I was just barley getting into the security divsion of software managing in the PC world, I was sick and tired of it, I looked to mac to save me, And it did, I learned so much more with the resources I got, Oh and also, As a rule of thumb, Any Mac orderd from their site them selves never comes with bloatware, Every peice of software was listed and I needed them all, However, You go to bestbuy, They start "yeh cuz you know, Norton is theh berst and weel includet it on your machine FO FWEEE!" yeah no.........

oh and also, Just because anyone has a custom built pc doesent mean they know everything there is about computers, its obvious they have the hardware side down, What about software?

And if you buy from a big brand or even some custom builders you get half your HDD filled with crapware, some of it is f'ing hard to remove. Anyone had to remove Norton recently?

%90 Of the macs you purchase NEVER come with shit ware, That was one of the main points in why I purchased my machine, The other %10 is from 3rd party sellers, such as best buy, Also, if your having issues unsitalling norton, I suggest getting a 3rd party software unistaller that cleans up after its self, Such as Revo unistaller, It will remove all files and registry entries.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Buying my computer was my decision when I knew NOTHING of computers in 09, The truth being, I am happy with my computer, And the truth is I am currently saving up for a custom built PC, I'm honestly getting tired of BARLEY mentioning the word MAC, And then everyone bashing my decision, I hate when I say "I own a Mac, And then, im instanltley marked as an idiot who knows nothing of comptuters, Or a non PC gamer, Ive been using Windows 7 since 2010 when I could finally get it installed and have been Pc gaming since, If you think becuase you built your computer your a insta know it all (no offense) you need a reality check, There is SO much more to computing, Than hardware, For me, its software and security research, This is the main reason why, Ive ALWAYS been intimitaded to buid my own computer, But instead of people understanding this, the people who built there own automatically mark me as an "Idiot", I feel thats just wrong.......

And as always, My post is never meant to hurt anyone, I am honestly just speaking my mind, If it seems like im ranting/raging, Its mainly beacuse im sick and tired of hearing the same thing over and over again "Haha you got a mac" when They havent even attempted to use one them selves.

I have the MSI GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II. It runs great, all GTA settings on High and the temperatures of the GPU are really low.... I think it's a great card, and have had no trouble with it whatsoever.

I actually totally agree with you Justin... +1

Thank you tom, I really apreciate this, While it may seem im "ragging" Or something such of that sort, The truth is, Im getting tired of being backed into a corner for money I spent, It was a uniformed decision and im really glad for it, The truth being, My mac represents something really dear to my heart, It was a gift from a very close relitive who couldnt really afford it, Just get me through School, When people bash it, It really hurts deep, Because it means more than that, I remember back when I got a Dell inspiron 1501 in 05, That thing still works to this day, With barley 2 gb of ram, Because I worked my ass of on that thing, to make it to where it needed to be, When I litreally knew nothing of computers back in 07, I set out to make my laptop run right, So I got my mothers laptop and started researching, You wont belive me on this but its the truth, That thing took 1 hour to boot up, and 30 min to open IE, I made my boot time to 20 secs, and IE opend in less than 10, that was impressive to me, I learned alot and I continued my research up until my father gave me a Dell desktop, I was messing around on it until I finally got a virus, Because I was an idiot back than, I thought Mcafee would save me, And this is a true story on why I got into security: So I do what you always need to do when you think you have a virus, Unplug your internet, I call up Mcafee, The guy tells me to plug my internet back in, And download a scanner, The scanner found nothing, and while it was scanning, Some jack ass was reciving my credit card info, yeah it wasent fun, Malware bytes picked it up in less than a second, From that point on I pretty much vowed I would enjoy learning everything in the computing security divisions, And I have, Sorry for you TL;DR people, I kidna went all out

A friend of mine has that card, it's almost as good as my GTX 570 and wasn't that expensive.

My PC:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 820 4x2.8GHz

GPU: Zotac GTX 570 AMP! 1250MB GDDR5

RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz

PSU: Corsair TX750 V2

Mainboard: Crappy Acer thing

Thank you tom, I really apreciate this.

I totally understand you, everyone has to start somewhere right? anyway I bought a computer back in 2006. My brother still has the computer now and the boot times are still under 10 seconds..... I remember when i bought my first computer around the age of 11. Best feeling ever to know that you don't have to share that PC with your family..

A friend of mine has that card, it's almost as good as my GTX 570 and wasn't that expensive.

Yeah mine was factory over clocked slightly too. I reckon people only bother to write a review when something goes wrong...

But I think it's a fab card for the price.

Window's 7 Ultimate

AMD PhenomII X2 555 Processor 3.20GHZ

4GB RAM

Sapphire Radeon 6790

Asus 19" Monitor

Thermaltake case

this baby run's GTAIV SMOOOOOOOOTHLY since i got the new graphic's card :)

before i got this computer, i went too staples and bought an HP computer, and was VERY specific about what i wanted, he said oh yes you can run GTAIV on this computer, you can put as many upgrades as the computer can handle (yeah right).

i get it home, hook it up, install GTAIV and once i get in game the CPU is only 256MB....

i opened it up, and there was absolutely NOTHING in the tower i could upgrade,

i wanted a ferrari..... they gave me a lemon......

so i took it back and complained, they gave me my money back after about 3 hour's of arguing with them until i brought up the Better Business Bureau, used the $700.00 from that computer and put it towards custom part's and just bought a graphic's card upgrade for around $170.00,

so my computer is now worth 3X what they sell those shit bag computer's for at Best Buy or Futureshop,

moral of the story is, if you wanted what your paying for, build your own gaming computer :)

I agree... I got a superclocked 1gb GTX280 for just $80 at eBay when they sell it at $300+ in other places lol. Best buy is really overpriced that's why I only use eBay to buy parts.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium OEM ($100)

Processor: AMD A6-3650 ($110)

GFX: msI Radeon HD 6770 ($100)

RAM: Kingston 4GB 1600 ($30)

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500GB ($45)

PSU: DiabloTek 775W ($60)

Motherboard: msI FM1 motherboard ($85)

TOTAL (w/Win7+building tools): $570

I've been using this computer for about 6 months now, playing one to two times a week on average, and the computer is still (and should be) chugging along. I bolded the processor because I intended to buy a Phenom II X4 965 BE with an AM3+ motherboard, but the sales people at the TigerDirect store persuaded me to go for the APU, which they touted would increase my performance by 40% with its integrated graphics. In hindsight, I should have stuck with the Phenom II for its better performance and AM3 socket type, but I did save a lot at the store with special store discounts, and apparently the A6-3650 (2.6GHz) performs better than the comparatively priced stock FX-4100 (3.6GHz) in pure CPU power :p

Building a PC is fairly easy to do; you just have to be careful when handling the motherboard. If there was one thing I would have done to improve my build, it would have been to spend an extra $100 on an Intel Core i5 2500K instead. A graphics card upgrades only requires you to buy a new card while a new CPU may potentially require you to buy a new CPU AND motherboard.

EDIT: I run GTA EFLC on high settings at 30FPS.
