One I did today

Please do tell why you had to tow a police car! I'm assuming a break down though?

I'm your typical high school senior by day, bowling alley attendant by night. If I'm not bowling, which I do Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, I am working at the bowling alley. Really no fun pictures to take, but I can get some next week. I was lucky enough to have this week off! :D

Cop didn't want to drive it because it was over heating, when I got into it to move it around, I instantly understood why space is so important.. even the crown vics are squished.

Ah, over heating, it sucks balls. The Vics are indeed very tight with all of the equipment in them, I don' t know how I'd fit in one with the gear that cops have to wear. I just sat in one about 3 weeks ago and I was surprised at how little room there was up front for the officers.

Now imagine that same equipment in a Chevy Impala. I spent about 2 years riding around in one of those cars and I am convinced they are the worst patrol cars to ever hit the streets. Shitty handling, shitty reliability, really cramped after you put all the police equipment and cage in it, couldn't keep up with any medium performance sedan. Do I need to go on? Every time our Impala broke down we got to take it to the sheriff's office garage and trade it out for a spare car which, for awhile, was mostly 2003-2005 crown vics which were beasts. I actually got really excited every time our patrol car broke down because that meant we got to spend the next couple weeks in a crown vic, lol.

Its not a job but im not old enough to work so its the closest thing to it and its a video

Holy hell! That's for the Explorer's? If I'm gonna be yelled at and degraded I better get to shoot shit!

Nothing like being bitched at, and then unloading an m240 through a cinder block wall.  :woot:

Haha yea it is. This only last about a week we go through levels 1-4 level 1 is for new explorers to learn all the basics of whats expected of them its usually 4 12 hour days of training at the end you earn your shoulder patches, Level 2 you go through 2 days of first aid and CPR at the end your CPR certified and earn the right to go on ride alongs. Level 3 which is what this video is, is a 7 day long course at the CHP academy and the days usually consist of 18 hours of PT,Drill, and classes at the end you earn a CHP explorer badge patch. Level 4 is like level 3 but is more intense and you get to drive and shoot at the end you earn a special nameplate.

day to day functions are not like this, this is a 2 times a year occurrence we usually meet weekly do some drill and train for competitions, and on occasion we do traffic control at events and help at DUI checkpoints, and community service this program gets you extra points when it comes to joining the CHP in the future because about 50,000 people apply each application process and only about 200 are hired. Being a former explorer gets you to the top of the list plus veterans get extra points as well, and i plan to join the Air Force as SecFo

So we got another Security forces guy? Cool man, you won't regret it, if you like law enforcement. Just plan on a lot more security work over LE. And as a heads up, don't ever say SecFo. Only officers and Army call us that, and it makes us cringe. If you are security forces and you say it, you'll be punched; friendly advice. :)

Thanks for the advice, I heard someone else say it who wasn't in the air force. I know alot of people dislike security forces work, but i wouldn't mind the long hours and frequent bodrum i've always wanted to join the air force and id much rather be doing that then some random admin job, plus i hear security forces trains a lot, and I think it would be a cool learning experience, Btw are you active, guard, or retired? What state? or are you abroad?

Job isn't that bad. If you want experience that is actually meaningful, make sure you don't choose PRP bases on your dreamsheet (missile bases; no LE).

Personally, I'm an introvert, so I don't mind being by myself in an area for 12 hours. Others hate it. But you'll normally do 70% security work, 30% LE work. Just be prepared for horrible shifts with no rhyme or reason.

Currently I'm active and stationed at Andrews AFB, but after my deployment in few months I'll be at Macdill AFB in Florida.

2 HUGE tips I can give you, is choose a base that has a tech school based there, since it's more community oriented, thus will lead to more LE duties. Plus you'll feel like a badass when you get to go pick up a fellow airmen who is drunk at a local PD. Lol

Second tip is don't let others bring you down. The majority of SF is full of washouts from other fields, and thus don't want to be there.

As training goes, we train a lot. A lot of shooting. Rest of the AF will maybe fire a weapon 2 times in 4 years. SF usually shoots every 2 months. Plus there's lot's of specialities with security forces. I'm gonna try for Phoenix Raven here pretty soon.

If you have any questions about the AF or recruiting, shoot me a PM. Glad to help.

At least before the Caprice was reintroduced and the CVPI was still on the market, then the answer is yes. However, now that Chevy has brought back the Caprice (which I hear is the most badass police car on the market) Chevy is a much bigger contender especially given the reputation and legendary status that the Caprice had back in the 90s. And now that Ford has discontinued the CVPI and switched to the Taurus I think that Ford and Chevy are on equal grounds now. I am not a big fan of the Taurus model police cars, they are smaller than the CVPI was on the inside. I haven't got to spend much time in one though, only got to spend one 10 hour shift in one. Wasn't as bad as the Impala was but I would rather be in a CVPI.

Hell yeah, I spent about 8 years living there before I joined the Army. My dad was stationed there but now he is retired. He still works there but now he is a contractor. MacDill is a nice base and the Tampa area isn't bad. I am not a big fan of living in Florida but there are far worse places to live than Tampa in the state. Do you know if you will be living on base or off? If you live off base then try to live in Hillsborough County if you can find an affordable place, it will be an easier commute and you will be close to everything. Pinellas County is the next best choice after that. I would not recommend living in Pasco County (that is where I lived), there is nothing up there and most of the county is a huge shit hole, but it is one of the cheaper places to live. Polk County is similar to Pasco but with worse traffic due to I-4. Not sure what pay grade you are but there are nice spots in Hillsborough that can be affordable as well. I am probably going to be moving back there in about 2-3 years once I am done with my tour here in Germany.
