Alienware Computer..?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I know some of you don't like Alienware products but be honest... What do you think of this computer for LCPDFR?

Thanks!

And damn, those LED's never get old.

Alienware is complete trash in my opinion, build a pc. You'll get better specs for the same price.

Okay thanks!

Altaf posted these items... what do you think of them?

What Altaf posted is good, but it doesn't include everything. For example, there's no CPU fans. There's no case fans either. There's also no thermal compound. Most of this is not needed, but there is a very high chance your parts won't last very long due to overheating.

You also don't get an Optical Drive with that, no you won't be able to use CDs on that CPU.

I would recommend spending about $50 to $100 more so you can get fans and Optical Drives and such. I would, however, stick with the PC that Altaf posted and just get the needed cooling components as well as an Optical Drive (if needed) and not get a pre-built.

Hey ninja! Thanks for your reply!

Do you have any recommendations on what CPU fan I get? I'm unsure on what will be compatible and if the fan will be powerful enough. I thought I saw that the case on that list came with a fan, but I may be wrong. If that one doesn't come with one do others do?

Also, I'm unsure of what a thermal compound is. Is this something separate that I buy?

Thanks again for your help!

Jake

Thanks aCoD!

I was just watching some of your Youtube videos and it seems like LCPDFR runs really smooth on your computer. I looked at your specs in the about me section. With these items that Altaf posted and the fans and etc. that you posted do you think it will run as smooth as yours?

Thanks again!

I'm not him, but I looked at his specs as well and there might be a slight change in performance, but you'll still get it to look really nice with the PC Altaf posted.

Your performance should be similar if not equal to mine.

Awesome, thanks for checking!

Cool! Are you able to use ENB's and still have the FPS high?

Honestly the Alienware that you are looking at isn't really worth it for the price. The Alienware that you linked is more of a mobile platform or console type setup than a gaming rig. Personally I don't have a problem with Alienware, however if you think about it, you will have to replace this thing in a year or two because it just won't be able to keep up.

It would suck if you got this thing and it turns out it can barely play GTA V or not at all (when it comes out for pc). Then what......you'll be stuck saving up for another computer.

Plus the graphics card has ddr3 memory not gddr5 like a normal desktop card, sure it may have 4 gigs but it isn't fast.

I strongly suggest and advise that you build your own computer, trust me, I made the mistake of getting a mobile gaming device and I definitely would have rather built my own computer instead of spending $1600 for a mobile gaming device.

Please don't buy a pc for LCPDFR.. Just don't. Shelling out that much money for one specific game, let a lone a mod that's designed for a poorly optimized game, is asinine. Buy it because you play other games and want to run them.

But who am I to tell you what to do with  your (parent's?) money..

Hey Pavelow!

I hear where you are coming from... I'm not buying a gaming computer just to play LCPDFR. I'm considering buying one due to the speed in browsing websites and of course playing Steam Games or etc. on it.

What do you think of Altaf's computer that he posted? Do you think I will be able to play other games on high settings aswell?

Thanks again!

This is my PC. I didn't have the time to sit down and do a custom build, but this has all I needed. I can run BF3 on Very High settings with no problem. I can run GTA IV with the highest resolution and an ENB with no problem, (apart from an issue I may have caused lol) and get 35 FPS lows and 45-50+ FPS normally. It even does well with recording and playing GTA. I know everybody here says build a PC, and I personally would have loved to, I love this one. The only thing I want to change majorly, is the graphics card, maybe upgrade it a bit. The 8 GB RAM doesn't give me any issue at all.
