I tried It in late beta process and It was looking kinda good, but not awesome. It was like playing a bad GTA:SA copycat, but with alot of more features.

The driving was horrible, felt like driving on ice but still like driving a big truck no matter what vehicle you took.

The IP of APB has now been purchased by K2 Network.

But I bought the game when RealTime Worlds had it.

Can Anyone tell me the filesize of the game download? My internet sucks so I need to know that to plan when I can download it.

I believe it's about 7-10GB in size. Very large. And unlike some of their first blog posts suggested, having the original game DOES NOT help. I have both the original installed and the new beta. I was a player from the original game, from pre-release until end, and I was also a closed beta tester for the new version: 'APB: Reloaded'.

I can honestly say that I hate what K2 Networks has turned it into.

The game itself is pretty similar, but all weapons and cars are rental. Ones you can own forever are few and far between, and they cost $60. A premium subscription also gives a substantial advantage, earning you a 30% bonus to XP and cash. The driving mechanics have changed for what I feel is the worse. Handling has a time delay and the weight and power of various cars have changed in a bad way.

In addition, if you were an old player and you were looking to reclaim all of the things you worked hard for, bad news:

Your rank (level), achievements, clans/guilds, stats, perks, weapons, cars, cash, contact standing and faction standing will be gone. Forever. You can't get it back. The only thing you get to keep is your character name, your customizations for clothing, and your character model. I was R243 (level 243) on my Enforcer before the game shut down, with 10 cars of various types, all major preset weapons and was saving for an NTEC Dvah , and had two level 3 perks and a level 2 perk. Those have all been wiped out, and you start in tutorial district again.

I wouldn't mind leveling back up if the game was the same as before, but it's not. I honestly don't want to play it anymore. I was happy paying the $15 a month for what the game was, despite its flaws.

The good news is K2 networks have (mostly) fixed the hacking issue by turning on Punkbuster, and are working on new content all the time, up to and including new districts. The bad news is that they ruined everything else.

I bought it 2-3 weeks before it shut down, so I got pretty annoyed when it closed.

Did you petition for a refund and/or compensation? Some people got their full money back, I got $20 back that I used towards a copy of Medal of Honor and Bad Company 2 Vietnam.

Money back from EA? That's like getting blood from a stone...

Bleh, i lost personally my trust with EA. Apparently i couldn't login to my BFBC2 account even though Email and pass was right. I did go for EA support and no answer in weeks. Good game wasted. Can only play single now on it.
