• I could care less if they spy on people, they do it to protect us.

Hitler did the same thing wire tapped and spied on his own people and look what happened.  And a nation should not be so afraid of its own citizens that it must become a police state and spy on your every move.

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Ben Franklin

The United States government cannot and does not look into your emails and listen in on your calls. They must have warrants to do so. Even if they do, who cares? What could you be talking about that is so private that some guy hundreds and thousands of miles away will listen too? I just don't understand.. Because then, when the security is loosened and a terror attack occurs because of less monitoring and security, then the same damn people will be complaining about the lack of security anymore

So they spy on us? Are you hiding something from them? Is there something that will get you into trouble or that will want them to keep a closer eye on you?

If I helped, I would appreciate you pressing the green arrow to the right of your screen!

I have nothing to hide, but as many people have said, the law is so massive, most people commit offensives daily without even knowing.

Now for some quotes.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" - George Santayana

"You have nothing to fear, if you have nothing to hide" - Joseph Goebbels (The Nazi propaganda minister)

Also our wonderful William Hague

Although people may consider what the US Government is doing to be offensive, it is certainly not a human rights issue. The Syrian Regime gassing its own people to death, and murdering thousands of innocent people is a human rights issue. African Warlords torturing and killing villagers is a human rights issue. Some guy sitting in front of a computer screen looking at a some persons call records is certainly not a human rights offense.

That is a problem with media barely giving it a couple minute segment, but there are plenty of problems with mainstream media. Not at least the Snowden Whistleblower/Traitor tagline. And yes, they are human rights offences,

Article 12: "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks."

Article 19: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."

I honestly think it is acceptable if they are using this to protect their citizens then I see nothing wrong with it. I can understand that people like their privacy but it cannot always be upheld.

They wouldn't be doing it if they didn't think they had to.

Considering that the Missouri Information Analysis Center (Federal and State anti-terrorism task force) called anyone who supports a political party that isn't Republican or Democrat a potential violent terrorist militia member, most of the people in this thread are probably labeled terrorists some where by some government agency. Third party candidates received around 1.8 million votes in the last election, of an estimated 130 million voters.

That means the US Government considers at least 7 million people in the United States to be terrorists, for simply voting for their preferred candidate. I'm sure that number is significantly higher when adding in all the other ridiculous reasons a government agency is bound to come up with.

The Syrian Regime gassing its own people to death, and murdering thousands of innocent people is a human rights issue.

And yet, there is no proof that Assad used Chemical weapons. The only people who stood to gain from a chemical weapon attack were the Al-Qaeda operatives currently being supported by the US and NATO in Syria, and the war profiteers of course.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

Ok, +1, I didnt think that would fall under a human rights offense, thank you for teaching me more than schools do in a week lol

It shouldn't matter if you are "hiding" something, It is a matter of the U.S. Constitution that GIVES US the RIGHT TO PRIVACY. This makes me real mad and sad to see that soooo many people JUST DON'T CARE if a person behind a desk can watch and see what you are doing at any time.

Warrant?

Yes new rules have gone into effect that states the NSA, FBI, CIA, ATF, etc must have a warrant. But all they have to say is that it is a "Matter of National security" or whatever. There is always loop holes that will allow them to "get what they want".

Now I'M NOT TELLING YOU to be worried or anything I just saying that you should think about yourself, would you like to be "spied" on.......but wait for those who say I have nothing to hide, do you really think you have nothing to hide......and if so what about your rights? Do you really like the fact that any giving time you could POSSIBLY be watched?

I think everyone should watch this before making a comment on this topic.... Edward Snowden =

52 terror 'events' is what they said to congress, 1 terror plot 'disrupted', over its lifetime

"The NSA has previously claimed that 54 terrorist plots had been disrupted "over the lifetime" of the bulk phone records collection and the separate program collecting the internet habits and communications of people believed to be non-Americans. On Wednesday, Inglis said that at most one plot might have been disrupted by the bulk phone records collection alone. "There is an example that comes close to a 'but for' example," Inglis said."

Those secret courts that the Nazi's thought up do sure come in handy, you can issue a warrant, without anyone knowing! (NB: Comedic value)
