How long can you play?

Featured Replies

0 minutes (crash during loading) - forever (when I get bored and stop playing). It varies greatly. Sometimes I'll crash on the way to the station, sometimes as soon as I start to patrol, sometimes because of a certain error (like the freval thing), sometimes it will be fine until I'm done playing (then it crashes on exit, of course).

There is an fix to anything you know. only need to read the main threads and you will have your problem solved

  • with 0.95 it would vary but I could get over an hour sometimes. With v1.0 though I get to play about 10-15 minutes and its a lucky day if I make it longer than that. I do use a lot of mods on top of F

I think the freval thing should have been fixed in 1.0a, I haven't played much since I installed it. I know I can fix the crash on exit part, I'm just too lazy and it doesn't bother me.

I knew that name looked familiar!! lol. I'm pretty sure I played Payday 2 with you and ineseri once or twice! lol. Granted I should've said I died and watched you guys play, but I am pretty sure I played with you guys. haha

LOL, I don't think you have! We should play some time! I've stealthed a bank on Overkill Pro Job before. It was fun. Picking all the deposit boxes, just how Original Light likes it.

SCNG FTW!!

The longest I've ever played with LCPD:FR 1.0 activated is 5 minutes.

Edit - That is probably just because I play with a RP clan....

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one with extreme 1.0 lag. In fact, I like .95 better because it's much easier to use and less complicated as well.

SOOOOOOO GLAD to see 10-15 mins up here pretty often, I thought I was an odd man out since I see youtube videos that are 30 to and hour and a half. I hope its not my computer this is a great mod but its too short if I can only play for a 10 mins and I can get hours and hours out of ARMA 3.

For the people that crash every 10 to 30 mins of gameplay. That was happening it to me .. until I did these steps..

Step 1 : Reinstall GTA IV

Step 2: Download LCPDFR 1.0 Manual  plus Hotfix A

Step 3: Only used these Following mods, the Spawned Script, Traffic flow SCript, Police helper But disable Any Callouts and Traffic Calls, and ELS 7 But Disable ELs for AI use.

Step 4: Only Police car was Completely moded . All other cars left as it came in the game.

Step 5: Went to the Main Folder of GTA IV and Click off Read only..

Step 6: I installed the Xlive instead of Dsound for now.

These are all the steps that i did and i am now able to play the game for over 2 hours and even ran it over night and no crash......

here is my specs on my Computer:

AMD 6200 6 core processor

10 gigs of Ram

Windows 8.1

Geforce 560 GTX PCI:E  1 gigs of Video Ram -- Do plan to update very soon

.............................................................................................................................

I did also use a ENB for 1.0.7 that i found on this site which works well. and moded only the Trooper Skin....

I would recommend Do not use High Poly cars cause i notice it would also crash the game Randomly Also Mods that demands memory as i notice LCPDFR 1.0 Demands alot of memory :)

I hope this work out for the people that is having issues and hope to get  a feedback if this work for you guys as well.

Unfortunately, it immediately reverts back to "read only"

Windows always does that on folders it will stay read only.  The files should have changed off of read only though.  Look in the folder at one of the files "properties" to check.

I've done a total vanilla reinstall, only have LCPDFR 1.0 going with the hotfix. No ELS, no extra scripts, no imported cars, no imported skins. I've got a 2GB GeForce 650TI, a i7 3770K, and 16GB of RAM. I have my settings on medium and still crash VERY frequently. Definitely not my machine so I'm thinking it's something in LCPDFR just not playing nicely with something. I'll likely revert back to the more stable version so I'm able to play online with people though.

Try adding this command line to the root GTA (GTA/EFLC) folder:

-norestriction
-nomemrestrict
-availablevidmem 2
-framelimit 0
-minspecaudio
-noprecache
-novblank

Also, the game actually runs better with high detail settings for some reason, at least on my machine.  I don't crash as often as a bit smoother.  But without that command line, I crash and get serious lag for some reason.

The tips may or may not help you, but it greatly improved my gaming.  I also rum Mem-Turbo, which seems to help with the graphics popping.  You should be able to fine tune your game with that rig and get it running an hour or two. Fine tuning GTAIV is like walking a tight-rope, and trial/error.

Good luck,

DrDetroit

Thanks for the tip....

Where exactly should I be adding this code?

I'll give it a try with the graphics too. I mean, I literally play everything on Very High/Ultra with absolutely no problem, it's nuts to think this rig couldn't handle something like GTA4 and even just a couple mods. So I've scrapped everything in hopes that I can "fine tune" it as you say so I have a nice balance of stuff that I can do with LCPDFR and also be able to play with others. There's really only so much fun to be had playing with yourself (hehehe) I'd rather play with others....

Currently I can play LCPD:FR 1.0 for an hour, then I start getting texture losses and because I find those really annoying I quit the game and then restart it

I would probably be able to play a lot longer if I wouldnt have my car pack installed lol
