Unlocked Explorers?!

Featured Replies

With the outburst of the new 2013 Ford Utility Interceptors, I was just wondering if the people who release them scratch model them. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I never knew where I could find a 2011-2013 Dodge Charger, but I did find one in the end. So, does anyone know if there is an unlocked Explorer anywhere? I'm really dying to make one... Any help is greatly appreciated.

I suppose you could convert your own 2012 ford explorer from NFS and then edit it to '13 for your own unlocked model. Or Make some scratch made things, get friendly with people who have the right to give out the locked file unlocked and then do a trade.

<rant>

I am not having a go at you, just letting you and every other "GADDER" know that with just grabbing some unlocked things, placing them incorrectly on the model and not doing anything with the model is not the pass for you passing go and collecting 200 dollars. It just makes you feel good cause you can click a button. But when critique comes around you "modders" (NOT modelers) have a whinge, or if something is broken on the model you go "oh well I am not gonna fix it cause I don't know how and I am not gonna give it a go *pats yourself on the back and put on your *special* sticker* </rant>

Anyhow, I had to get that off my chest.

Okay, chill, relax. Any links? I'm checking a website I know where I can get unlocked NFS models, but I don't see the Explorer.

gamemodels.ru EDIT: the Explorer's you're seeing are probably from me and Mike Oscar Modding. Everyone that has the Explorer (from us) has traded for it. So it would be unfair if I just start giving it out to everyone. Also there are NO unlocked Explorer models as it's a very sought after car, as is a 2013 Charger and 2013 Taurus. The best thing you can do is get into scratch modelling and/or converting cars, so that you have something to trade for parts.

Collecting 200 dollars? Hell I didn't know I could get paid for this. I'm picking up my 2000 bucks tomorrow then.

On a serious note, I don't know what you meant by that, since noone here gets paid, and as far as I'm concerned I don't want to get paid for this.

What is modding about:

Sharing, so that you don't just make some mods to yourself (being selfish), but also releasing it to the public. Also by sharing, I mean sharing info as well, so that other people can learn it. And I'm afraid it includes sharing stuff unlocked as well, so that there can be more mods, a bigger variety, so that everyone can get the best mod to his/her taste.

Before you get sentimental about how modellers are such OMFGBBQAWESOMESAUCE people, let's not forget that even you modellers "steal" other people's work, from other games. I never had a problem with this, and probably never will, but don't think for a second that just because you can model stuff, that makes you somewhat better then other people. For example some people don't have the time or the skill to learn 3D modelling, or even convert a whole new car.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that you don't release some stuff unlocked, because you think some newbie modders can't or don't want to make their mods perfect. If you don't like his/her mods, then just don't DL it, or rate it down, if it bothers you that much.

Also by not releasing it unlocked, you are denying the chance from people who are trying to be better, as they make mods.

This was nothing personal, this is to all those people who don't release their stuff unlocked, because of similar reasons.

In short:

If you share, more people get to make more mods. More mods mean bigger variety. Bigger variety is better for the community.

First off, the collecting 200 dollars and passing go was a monopoly reference, obviously noone got that bit..

And Secondly, the part about me not releasing things unlocked is wrong. So the release(and only release) I made is locked, but everything on it was unlocked anyway(besides my rambar) so there is no point unlocking it. I just locked it to be "Cool".

Also where did you get your information about me not releasing things unlocked "because of the newbie modders"?

I always state that they are not mine to give out unlocked, if they are mine I am/will be releasing them unlocked eventually.

Like my 2014 dodge charger will be unlocked after I have made a few releases(only to receive more traffic to my own website)

I am not like hilth0 or beck or someone who goes around to vehicle files of the "newbie modders" and put them down, or talks down to them like I am almighty god. I give them ideas and critique there work and search for improvements to be made.

I do not think I am a better person cause I took the time to learn scratch modeling, and I have never had that attitude(unlike reboot23/master yoda) The thing that started my rant was people pm'ing me asking for things like the ford explorer unlocked, when they have done jack shit.

Kayno, you should understand that I am not treating these people like peasants, I am trying to make them appreciate the hard work and effort that goes with making models. The recent influx of repetition models is why I do not want some things unlocked. It is not about what work I have put into my models and that's why I want it locked, or the rarity of the model. It is cause people will download the model, take off the light bar, replace it with one that's provided for them unlocked and all they need to do is click a few buttons and it is in-game and they call themselves "modelers". Yes that is modding, but when 50 people or so do the same thing, it gets boring.

Even with the mass variety the community has now, there are still the same vehicles, and parts being used. Take the liberty and cvpi for example. Pretty much out of the 83 or so pages of vehicle models in the download database 40% of them are filled with CVPI's. And then most likely a quarter or so of them have liberty's and a code 3 xt6 in the back. (I have not personally gone through every model, but I do always see "CVPI w/Whelen Liberty")

I am gonna end it here.

Well I'm sorry, I think I misunderstood your post back there, it seemed to me that it was like that.

Anyway even though people use the same lightbars, it's really not the same car. Everyone has their own taste, and if people released everything unlocked, we wouldn't have 9 billion CVPIs (which isn't a bad thing since most of the police cars in the US are crown vics). Also just because some1 didn't release anything or I dunno what you meant by that, it shouldn't mean they are not allowed to have unlocked stuff. Everyone has to learn somewhere. If I only had the IV police cruiser, I would have never even thought about making the police cars I did. And it's not a simple copy paste job, placing a lightbar on a car, it's a lot harder then that.

Anyway ontopic, I'd like to see an unlocked Explorer myself. Been planning on making a CHP PIU for a long time.

Amen to that! Honesty, I think original models and parts should be out unlocked, and then the finished, assembled PPV should be locked, because there's no reason for it to be unlocked. Anyone agree with that?

gamemodels.ru if you are willing to convert it (from NFS).

The only problem with that is, the interior is quite disgusting. And by disgusting, I mean, literally 100 polys are probably in the interior. I really can't find one... Explain more about these 'trades'?

well if you learn how to scratch model, and make something that you think someone who has the vehicle would want, you will probably be able to get it, though usually there aren't many trades involving vehicles unless its a vehicle for vehicle trade so you would need to have a car that, that person doesn't if that makes any sense.. in short unless you learn how to convert your SOL unless you become friends with someone that has it and can give it out it, people typically don't like to trade with people they don't know.

also reputation helps if you churn out really good models it will be easier to get the stuff you want

I found this one on sketchup, http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=18770f4d4381f830447b75ad2e9971ec&ct=mdrm&prevstart=12

Honestly that one is quite bad. If he is able to convert that, I don't see why he can't convert the one from NFS, since it looks more realistic.
