LOS SANTOS POLICE DEPT.   LSPD_Fan_Made.png

I saw that there was a discussion about the improved/lacked police vehicles in GTA V. Sure, the "ELS" system and

the large choice of emergency vehicles is pretty impressive, but what I found even more impressive are the actual police themselves.

I found officers with realistic patches(Sergeant, Lieutenant, etc.), bulletproof vests, better looking shotguns, a high school diploma,

sweet looking holsters, better "NOOSE" (SWAT Teams), and more.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The officer to the right (I'll call him Officer Buckley).

Buckley has his hands on his equipment belt with his shades resting on his forehead. He looks more fit for duty then the cops from GTA IV in my opinion

(Or any GTA game). He looks more stronger and more "serious"(But not too much, as this is a GTA titled game).

There's also the addition of female cops into the GTA Series which is nice considering males aren't the only ones that carry the badge in real life.

Some officers (Like the female officer in the middle) don't have a gun in their holster which is interesting to me.

Officer Buckley's cousin, Officer Spence(Left), has something new to officers in the GTA Series: A patch.

Spence's patch looks to be an "Officer III" patch, but I could be wrong. It also seems that cops were

introduced into the world of texting in GTA V, as it is common to see officers (Like my pal Spence) on their iFruit phones.

You can also find officers drinking a good cup of Bean Machine Coffee or smoking some Redwood Cigarettes.

A thing that's not hard to notice are the random events/chases performed by the LSPD.

I missed these from when I played GTA SA back when I still had a Playstation 2.

These events involve gunfire, arrests, reckless driving, etc.

The "NOOSE" (Or the LSPD SWAT) got a big uniform upgrade in GTA V.

They look more realistic and don't look like the cheap, toy-like NOOSE in GTA IV.

NOOSE Officers can also ride on the side steps of their Declasse Granger,

enter the ground from helicopters via rope,

and use fully automatic tactical weapons like in previous games.

Things I've noticed in pursuits are that officers will actually try to ram you of the road.

The nice thing about this is that they actually tend to ruin my escape a lot with this real life method.

Also, road blocks will be called in(Police Transporter), officers will equip vests at 2 stars, air support will

be called in at 3 stars, and the NOOSE will be called in at 4 stars.

If you happen to "find" a dead civilian, and you call 911, a couple of LSPD officers will actually respond

and sit around/investigate waiting for EMS (That is if the EMS respond. If not, call them) to arrive.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If you loiter around officers for a long amount of time, they'll soon warn you. If you don't

leave (You should) They'll open fire on you as they take their motto "Obey and Survive"

very seriously. This is probably due to minutes in GTA V being shorter than real life

minutes, making you stand in front of that officer for longer then it seems.

The LSPD now search for you now instead of having x-ray vision and instantly knowing your

location like in GTA IV. Each squad (1 squad = 2 officers), helicopter, NOOSE Unit, etc.

Has a "cone" which is the area they're looking at to try and find you, the guy that just

murdered some people. When 2 officers get into one squad (A car) they form one cone

unlike when the two officers split up to form two smaller cones. The biggest cones I've seen

are the ones the helicopters have which makes sense as they're in the air. The player can

hide in dense bushes, tunnels, forests, behind buildings, inside buildings, on top of buildings,

etc. Rockstar definitely improved the pursuit system in GTA V which makes it more intense and

fun when being chased by the police. Just don't get chased in real life...

The police AI in GTA V have changed drastically. From more detailed uniforms to more sophisticated pursuits,

Los Santos (And Los Santos County) has the best police force is the GTA Series yet. Let me know if I left anything out.

Just like you, I can't wait until we're able to mod this amazing game.

  • Actually, I disagree. Police in GTA 4 doesn't have x-ray vison - I was able to successfully hide from them (I could even see them passing by!). Unless they bring the helis, that is.

  • The thing that I find exciting is, when/if lcpdfr becomes lspdfr we will actually have a cuffing and walking the to the car with cuffs on animations! :D  It's just the little things that make rocksta

  • Oh damn, seeing this makes me want to play a potential GTA 5 "LSPDFR" mod already....

Ah. Due to using the Trainer, I never really battled it out against the cops in GTA IV, but when I did, they always knew where I was, heli or not lol. Anyways, it's a lot easier to evade the cops in GTA V than GTA IV.

Dude i cant wait for LCPDFR to make a mod when GTA V comes out! think how Rp of being a police officer is gonna be. and on top of that.. ((IMO)) I also love Rping being a Highway officer! the Highways there in GTA v is so freaking PErfect! also on the flip side your not the only cop Doing speedtraps lol! so you will have Ai help :)))

looking for people on GTA online add me: NySwat19

"Chances always have a limit.  The question is when will your limit be up?" ((L.R GTa crew quote))

I bet you were shot dead five seconds after taking those photos. The overly aggressive police AI is a major source of contention for many posters over on GTAForums including myself. Why Rockstar Games included batons and tazers as purchasable weapons at Ammunation when police don't use them themselves I don't know. Batons at one star, tazers + batons at two stars, tazers at three...

Why do female and male cop uniforms look different? Males have dark navy duty shirts and pants and black shoes whilst female police have lighter navy duty shirts and pants and from what I remember dirty looking running shoes.

Cheers.

It's good that Noose actually is improved. They used to give chase in IV in their huge poor-controllable Enforcers, which actually are not pursuit vehicles. Now they use them only in roadblocks (and it's harder to ram through, I prefer to make a turn) and chase in their Grangers. The only thing I wish is that LSPD really use they undercover car in street patrol, 4 example, and Buffalos on highways. Looks like VSPC 'Taurus'-like is the main fleet car.

The "NOOSE" (Or the LSPD SWAT) got a big uniform upgrade in GTA V.

Why, they were nice in Liberty, especially those helmets and masks...

But I still expected fines and opportunity to give up, just to make it more interesting.

I asked myself the same question. I guess Rockstar did the same idea with the uniforms that they chose to do with the police liveries: Inconsistent

it would be cool if Rockstar made it to where the game actually used the unmarked "Stainers". Instead, they only use them in one mission that I've found.

I never really liked the NOOSE from GTA IV. They seem bulky and not to mention they're always crouched like they're knees are locked lol

Also you forgot to mention that sometimes if you've got a one star the police officers will approach you with guns drawn in a tactical stance, and slowly move forward. I thought that was really cool when I first saw it.

I can only imagine what lcpdfr is gonna be like for GTA V PC if and when it comes out for the PC.........

people aren't used to that yet lol, calm down. Plus they might just give it its own new unique name all together.

I have to admit the LSPD are still "mind readers" as I can make a clean break with no one seeing me but they still ALWAYS swarm my exact location no matter where I hide (bushes, behind a building, etc). Even when hiding underground I'll see them swarming above my player blip (so even when hidden they know right where I am) although they luckily don't follow into tunnels too far from the stations.

Edit: That's just being nitpicky, though. The police are still WAY better than in IV. Great post, by the way.

Oh may I also add, If the officers vehicle gets wrecked in a chase he will commandeer the closest vehicle and resume the pursuit.

When I first saw this, I was like.. Holy Cow! This Sh*t's awesome!

Oh yeah, the officers stances have been improved a lot too (Forgot to mention that). I also like that when I get killed by the cops, you can see them still having their guns drawn on you. Makes me imagine they're checking your body and calling the ME, etc. If only that were true lol

Yeah, I agree. Rockstar didn't want us to get away that easily :P

Thanks. I was wanting to post something like this for a while

I have never seen one of these end in anything other than a shoot-out. That's pretty interesting.

I find it nice that you don't get busted unless you actually stand still and "give up", unlike in IV. I spend a good few minutes jumping and ragdolling into a group of deputies as Trevor, and was surprised that knocking the first one down didn't make them all shoot immediately.

Actually, I disagree. Police in GTA 4 doesn't have x-ray vison - I was able to successfully hide from them (I could even see them passing by!). Unless they bring the helis, that is.

There are a lot of times when the police in 4 manage to place you when they shouldn't have been able to. Some solid geometry and objects allowed line-of-sight, and the AI even attempt, and are able, to shoot through some buildings sometimes.

I bet you were shot dead five seconds after taking those photos. The overly aggressive police AI is a major source of contention for many posters over on GTAForums including myself. It is disappointing that the cops aren't a little less trigger-happy when you're not being an immediate threat, but I'll give chalk it up to the LSPD being an extreme parody of the LAPD.
