Operating Without Mods?

Featured Replies

So, I'm playing LCPDFR without any mods because I always have trouble with something installing them no matter who's advice I take. It sure would be nice to download the limitless mods out there.

How many of you out there strictly play LCPDFR without any mods?

I play almost unmodded. I change the siren (I HATE the default siren, to the very core of my being), but use default cars, no ENB, default weapons, default peds (sometimes I use ped mods, but even when I do, the bits and pieces are basically all pulled from R* peds, so low-poly). I play with LCPDFR, Police Helper, Tow Service, and METT, with the appropriate Speedo mod for METT, the METT peds, and the body bag. That's it; it's pretty low-modded, and the mods are generally not resource-intensive, as they aren't high-poly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of people who play LCPDFR do so unmodded. Modding is somewhat complicated, while LCPDFR has an installer to make it easy. Most people active here do more modding, but most people who play LCPDFR are probably not active here. I'd be surprised if the majority of LCPDFR players used other mods.

I just wish it was easier to implement them into the game rather than downloading Open IV etc. Last time I installed OpenIV I was forced to reinstall the entire game.

I might give it another shot with spark, but only if I get in depth instructions.

Thanks.

I would use spark instead of Open its alot Easier.

Please don't. OpenIV is in my experience much more stable and causes far less errors.

Also, on topic: I play LCPDFR the same way as cp702 does. I used to have a bunch of car mods but I grew tired of them.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

[...]. Last time I installed OpenIV I was forced to reinstall the entire game.

This was probably not because of OpenIV, but because of a faulty car mod.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

I run quite moderately modded usually. I upgraded my graphics card which meant I could run more than 1 high poly car texture (although this gpu is now becoming redundant with the new line of GTX series.)

In terms of mods I use all the police helper stuff and bravehearts scripts, indicators etc.

I use a dumbed down version of ENB series to enhance graphics a little bit but not too much. Because graphics mods don't work too well on 1.0.7.0. But LCPDFR needs 1.0.7.0.

I don't use ELS because I spend 2-3 days finding the exact cars I want then load them in the game to find the lights are 100% crap. Its like shining a torch with an almost dead battery through a brick. They often don't line up properly either from what I noticed.

(And yes I am aware that's probably an error on my behalf not the mod dev's or modelers, but I've had so many els issues I just gave up with trying. I had a similar issue with CLEO on GTA SA back in the day.)

As for the current openIV sparkIv debate going on up there ^

BACKUPS. :) If you aren't gifted with the beauty of being able to download and install all of GTA IV in 20 minutes then backup the vehicle files. (what is it vehicles.img? something like that, the one you edit with custom cars)

Or do what I do, make a copy of the entire GTA IV directory then archive it in a compressed folder to save "some" space.

That way when your modding goes tits up you can just uncompress the files and bam, gta IV clean install in 2 minutes.

MODLESS....JUST DO IT.

I'm still debating on which editor I should use.

Thanks for everyone's insight!

I use several of them. I found the unmoded game fun but tiring pretty fast. The only reason I purchased IV was to play LCPDFR. Now I have changed the cars, lights, added several enhancements like the spot light and plate scanner, The policing script, ELS, Tow Service exc exc. I am told a lot of mods cause problems but I have yet to see a stability difference between what I have now and before I added anything. I do read that MP will cause problems unless the players have the same mods meaning chances are I will never get anyone to play MP with me unless I get rid of some HAHA

I fully modded the GTA IV to the extent of extreme popins after playing for a while.

But I won't reduce the mods since the game looks better this way with all the car mods and stuff
