Earlier today I encountered the news about "leaked GTA5 gameplay" and so I investigated further and discovered YouTube videos of some people playing the game. Naturally I wondered "How would they be able to get the disk and play it?" and so I am here asking that very question. I am already aware that the game has been shipped to different stores in preparation of the release on the 17th but even then wouldn't most stores selling the game make sure employees aren't taking home game cases with them? Oh well, I hope someone would be able to educate me on this.

Before the game makes it into the hands of an everyday customer, it has to come from manufacturers to suppliers to retailers, so it changes hands many times. More than likely it's at one of these points were someone has taken the game off a shipment/pallet/box. Alternatively, it might have arrived at retailers who have decided to ignore the release date (risking considerable fines) and sell it already. With the amount of hype a major release like this carries with it it's more or less certain that it will be leaked during this process, people can't wait until next Tuesday. 

 

Some may also be review copies but it's unlikely that a legitimate review source that has been sent the game are the same people leaking it. It's more likely that it has occurred along the supply chain.

This. One other explaination could be R* employees leaking the gameplay, or someone working in a videogame store. 

Either way, it's theft.

When did they say that? That's not just possible to do. Maybe in the general area where the game is produced, but to other countries is a problem.

Yeah, the logistics of that just don't work.

Everyone who is stupid enough to run their stolen copies on Xbox Live are getting their live accounts, Microsoft accounts and consoles banned.

Serves them right, lol.

my game stop by me has them and they are waiting until midnight Monday to release them / they're doing a midnight release

 Playing it Offline is probably what most people do. I'm sure they wouldn't find out that way. 

But I would never do that to R*, I'll wait like I'm supposed to. But I am really excited, I'll admit. We've waited this long, so three more days won't kill me. 

 

I've never been so excited for a game in my life. I remember when the first trailer came out, the power in my town and whole state was out after a big Autumn snow storm, knocking down trees and power lines. So I was forced to see the trailer later on, but when I first saw it, I was amazed. 

There are stores that unofficially sell the game time before the release, obviously with a higher price. I'm not sure now how was the slang term for them. However, your console can be banned for playing it, as happened yesterday to some guy who was leaking content (with xbox, if I'm not mistaken).

The game has actually been ripped and uploaded onto torrent sites. I've only seen about 7 minutes of freeroaming and I honestly cannot wait now.

ive seen some of the gameplay and I can say without spoiling it that the police fans will be very happy with the detail they put in the cop cars

I for one am excited for Tuesday, I will be there waiting Tuesday morning for my copy I preordered god knows how long ago.. fuck the midnight release, not like my copy is going anywhere, however, this pisses me off, people can't just wait until the OFFICIAL release date of the game? like really.. people are willing to risk a lot for a damn video game? wouldn't be me, it may be probably the best game to date, but an $80.00 game is not worth it, it's just people thinking they're being smart and ruining the surprise.. well shock value..

I definitely can't wait for the 18th. I don't plan on looking any of those videos up just because I don't want to spoil the game. Lol. I was at the doctor's earlier today and they had Fox News on. They were talking about the release of GTA V and saying that it, and other M rated games, should have a surgeon general's warning on it. I though that was the biggest load of shit ever. But on topic; I seriously am super excited for this. I'm gonna go down to GameStop right after school and get it and play till I gotta go to school the next day! lol.
