What do you think of people who hate cops?

Featured Replies

I figured he meant that. Wasn't sure if meant Metro PD. (Washington DC)

Actually, no. its Manassas Park police department.

Besides, who here has heard of Manassas Park? No one? Exactly :P Maybe a few because on a CVPI I found on GPM a while ago had the same old paint scheme as before but said "Liberty Park"

I had ADD. Lol. But yeah, they yelled at me and my friend for being in the train station parking lot.

Highly doubt that, as his signature talks about a Manassas Park.

Post: No one, period, calls the DC police "MP". Sometimes it's called the MPD, but not just MP.

hlsavior and people responding to him: Right, back to topic, please. Thanks.

Yeah, that's why I was confused

I respect them too. I can't understand the people who hate cops, because I'm sure that erveryone of them need the help of the cops ervery day for example "TRAFFIC"!? Those people should thanks the police for that what they doing?

Everyone should respect them

The idea is that the "bad cop" adopts an antagonistic and aggressive stance that puts pressure on the suspect. The "good cop" is friendlier and more sympathetic- the idea is to get the suspect to try and build up a rapport with the good cop, and hence make the more likely to co-operate. Remember that a lot of suspects are scared and confused, so it's not impossible to get them to reach out to anyone who could appear to be an "ally" to them

I'd love to see a real interrogation. Instead of the always successful ones on TV lol

I dislike my local ones at work.

My village? Fine since everyone knows everyone else and we all help each other out (incuding the local cop), but at work? Different story and it depends which cops show up. There's some we know to make it hard on them. The way we see it is they've been nasty to us and hurt the horses, so they have it coming. And this is in the north of England too.

First time they got called was because of a kid throwing punches. Fair enough they got called, the (admittedly special ed) kid was out of control, but the cops came up in a 4x4 and had him against a wall and one was holding his hair while the other two....

Well one of them cuffed him, the horse the kid was on bolted dragging my colleague along and the other cop was yelling at her to stand still. That's hard with a full grown horse taking off. Net result, cop went behind the horse and got two legs to the face. Cop threatened to sue my work and started kicking and punching the horse. That eventually wound up with that dumb cop going to hospital with a broken nose. Lucky cop, could have been so much worse.

Second time, different cops. Got called due to a mother bringing her kids in while blind drunk on a weekend and they showed up and were kind and professional and discreet, they walked the mother outside and gave her time to sober up, and went and explained to the fourteen year old kid what was going on.

The kid just wanted to ride horses really, but the second lot of cops were far, far better than the first.

Most of the people who hate cops, Were arrested by cops.

the people who hate them don't understand how much crap they go through everyday and night. I respect cops, Always have and always will.. I class them as brothers and sisters in blue:) The only cops i have no respect for and hate are the ones who don't do their jobs and just stand around and corrupt cops.

FWIW I don't respect those who hurt animals. That in my book is as bad as being corrupt.

Okay. I am biased, since I work with animals and am a jockey but....if they are going to hurt and be dicks around animals, they are going to get my hatred. It's the same as screwing around with or hurting people though. Completely and utterly wrong.

EDIT: My (late) uncle was a cop for 20+ years before his forced retirement (on medical grounds), and listening to the stories about him makes me both proud he was a cop and sad that he had to go through some of the stuff he did. He's one of the few cops I actually truly admire, the rest? Meh. Earn my trust. And for the love of the Gods don't they dare hurt animals or people if I'm around.

I agree. But it's only on occasions that cops shoot animals for no reason.

Every other time, The only officers shoot animals is if they're in danger, or if the animal is hurt and they're putting it out of it's misery. A police officer has to defend themselves, If an officer sees a dog getting angry and about to lunge at his face because he had an altercation with it's owner he isn't going to say "Down boy down, Bad dog" His reaction is to pull out his firearm and stop it. He is shooting to stop a threat.

^ Ohh, don't start with the stupid argument of the officer who shot the dog the other day. 1) the god damn rotweiler, which is actually a quite dangerous race, jumped at the officer, who has the task afaik to protect himself and the innocent people around 2) what if the dog, like tried to attack the officer, would have attacked any other bystander 3) better safe than sorry. So the cop didn't shot the damn dog for no reason, and like that many other times in different places. Police officers aren't trained to go shooting dogs for not reason -.-

Anyway, sorry for this small rant, I'm sick of the nonsense generated by that incident. Backing to topic, there's people who have reasons to hate cops and there's who not, and still do because they think they are badass behiaving like that. Sometimes the police doesn't act in the best way or are complete corrupt assholes (arrested suspects beatings, etc), and other times the assholes are the politicians who order the police to act at some way (violenty dissolve a demonstration, with no reason). And other times, the people is who act like complete douchebags causing the police interfere, and in their eyes, all the fault is of the police. However, these people who hate cops because they have been abused by them shouldn't despise the all the police officers, because, like it's obvious, not every cop is a corrupt, lazy dumbass.

Most smartest words I've ever heard... and yeah I agree. Those cop vs dog threads are indeed stupid and pointless. Just gives people another reason to hate cops for something that was clearly justified.

I'm not trying to start arguments, If anything i think that cop did the right thing. EVERYONE would;ve done the same thing if they were in that situation.

I'm sorry if this is a bit blunt but the reasons posted on this thread are extremely simplistic and overlook some of the deeper reasoning behind the explanation of why people hate cops.

There are deep societal, economic, environmental and cultural reasons as to why people have a negative view of policing it's not simply "oh, he was a p***** that's why I hate em". Some explanations are self-explanatory (Race, Age, Gender, Where they live) others like Socio-Economics (Class) and Cultural run much more complex.

Wow, I wish more adults would have at least some of the maturity as the OP who's only 14. Alot of the time, people will be sour towards Law Enforcement because someway, somehow or someone they knew, had or even heard of contact with Police and it left a negative effect on them, People are so quick to jump over something negative rather than positive. For example, recently a young man committed suicide on one of our busy highways during rush hour, and every lane but one had to be shut down, so of course traffic backed up for miles. All people could see driving by was Police blocking traffic, infuriating alot of them, all the while Police were having to deal with this horrible situation.

Now admittedly I am biased, but from my stand point I think it is somewhat sad as how LEO's get such a bad rep, because as soon as you pick up the phone and dial 9-11  for an emergency, they are the ones who come.

I respect the cops that do their job well and just, but those who abuse the badge and abuse people/animals immediately lose all sort of respect I had for them. My grandfather was a cop in my local PD for almost 40 years, he's been retired for 16 years now, and he is the reason why I want to get into the law enforcement career when I can. But the people who hate cops most likely see one cop do something questionable, not necessarily wrong, and jump to conclusions, all cops are that way. And one thing that always make me laugh, people say they hate cops and that they never do their jobs and that they never want to see them because they're worthless; so when they need the help of the police, are they going to call? Or are they going to get seriously injured or killed because they don't want the police? A few of my friends hate cops, a and I always say to them, "What happens when you need them? I'm 90% sure your opinion on them will change if you need to call them for help."

I know this is LCPDFR.com, but I really expected many members to disagree with what I'm saying and to what most of you guys have been saying.

You're calling race "simple"?

You're calling race "simple"?

Not simple, self-explanatory as in there is no need to explain any further due to it being extremely well looked into.

My grandfather was a motorcycle cop in the Toronto Police Service for 20 or so years back in the 70's. I have heard stories from him about his time and was raise to respect cops. The idiot kids that didn't like them at my former high school (I have since graduated) hated cops for telling them not to do obviously stupid things like, skateboarding across the road in traffic, throwing objects at people and public DWI and DUID. After they saw me on my spare playing LCPDFR, the vast majority became friendlier to cops (partly too because I told them they would get nowhere other than maybe walmart since Mcdonalds rejected their applications) and some even graduated! To put that in perspective, their marks when they hated cops and did stupid shit were either 45 or below (Canadian grading system out of 100) and they raise their marks up (partly mind you) by respecting the not just the law, but others as well and graduated with either 65 or 70. A few made honors too (80 or above average in all 4 courses per semester) just by a simple attitude change towards cops doing their job.
