  • Okay, so when was EVCS announced?  Late January right?  How about ELS.Net?  It was announced last week, right?     Are you expecting to see something arrive within a week of the first public annou

  • Nah, I feel it's quite good if GPM actually has at least one script developer they can tout. Some competition is healthy.

  • While its nice and probably took a lot of time to make, I simply don't like how the corona's shine through the car. (See the front of it when he drives out in the video)   I think I'll stick to ELS

when i start the game it give error evcs.main error, so i cant use it? any one now why maybe?

I like to think of it as more of an enhancement to the default lighting system, and on that front it's great.

Take a look at these pics:

Using EVCS to enhance my vehicle, I now have lights on all the LED modules. With the default lighting system, I could only have a few lights on my lightbar that I had to strategically place to get the best coverage, and I could only spare 2 lights to go elsehwere, which went on the top LED modules on the back of the pod, leaving no lights for the pushbar and no lights for the bottom LEDs on the pod.

Now in this situation, ELS could also give me lights everywhere I want them go, but that'd come at the cost of the refreshing/invincibility issue, which sucks because when I'm putting prisoners into this vehicle I like the effect of having the pod door open, rather than having it flickering back and forth.

The only evident downside from EVCS is that some of the coronas can show through part of the vehicle, depending on where I'm looking at it from. But when you also think about the functionality you get from more control of your extra parts, liveries and siren, this isn't a huge issue.

Sure, maybe a mod in the future can deliver everything good here but with none of the bad. Personally, I don't mind using coronas for the lights. With my ENB I think it looks just fine. The advantage of EVCS again though is that it is (to a degree) released.

EVCS is also great to enhance the lighting for people who don't wish to use modded cars at all.

My only grip about ELS, aside from the "god mode" bug, is the fact that you can't see the lights from far off, just the reflections onto the environment. Whereas with the stock non-ELS vehicles, you can see the red/white coronas at least two-three times the distance compared to ELS. That, to me, is another realism issue. With today's LED lightbars, you can see them from a great distance away. With ELS, I can't go more than 50 feet away from my cruiser and not be able to see the lights, and this is running a high-end system with view distance and everything turned up.

that has nothing to do with els, more or less improper and sloppy modeler who are at fault for that

if LOD's are set up correctly then you should be able to see the lights from afar possibly even further then stock lights

models that tend to have those problems are usually made by novice modeler who are just starting out

if you were to use models made by more experienced modelers this wouldn't be an issue

I never thought about the visible distance that ELS has. I have my view and detail distances down to 1 :yucky: and I still see coronas from down the street.

Ah, well that makes some sense.

Can you give me an example of how the LOD should be set up and where I'd find it?

Bravozero this isn't the place to be asking for such information, however a LOD is a Level of Detail resolution model that is created in zModeler by the person creating the car model. LOD's change at different distances to decrease the amount of resources used by the game at range (for instance interiors, doors, radios etc can be removed from LOD's where they are not ever seen). The issue with the lights not showing at a distance is due to the creator of your car models not creating enough LOD's for the game to render things, it's also the reason for some new modeler's cars being a blob of grey at a certain distance etc.

Hope that explains it a little, but keep things on topic, that's not a question for this thread.

Regards,

Aussie.

Try using the latest ScriptHook 1.7.1.7, this might be your cause.

They will be added in the future, he's coding everything for just police for now, then when everything is set up right he will just copy/paste the code for police and make it for the other cars, rather than have to update multiple lines of code each time.
