Laptop Advice

Featured Replies

Alright, I'm heading off to college in August, and unfortunately I won't be able to take my desktop with me (it won't support GTA IV anyway) So I've been looking into getting a laptop for school that I could also use for gaming. Alienware is WAY out of my price range currently: so I focused on Dell's Inspiron Laptops. Below I have listed the specs for three I'm strongly considering, I'd appreciate it if you guys could help recommend which one would be best. (I'm new to computer gaming) Note: All three laptops come in at about $850.

Laptop 1

Genuine Windows® Home Premium, 64-Bit, English

2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz

6GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory

640GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive

AMD Radeon™ HD 6470M (64-bit) 512MB (Dual)

Laptop 2

Genuine Windows® Home Premium, 64-Bit, English

4GB Shared Single Channel DDR3 Memory

500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive

AMD Radeon™ HD 6470M (64-bit) 1GB Graphic

2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz

Laptop 3

Genuine Windows® Home Premium, 64-Bit, English

500GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive

AMD Radeon™ HD 6470M (64-bit) 512MB (Dual)

2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz

6GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory

I know laptops will never be great for gaming. I'm not looking for world-class visuals I just want to be able to play LCPDFR, and due to college a laptop is my only option at the moment.

The second Laptop. But you can't upgrade laptops xO.

With 850$ you could build your own desktop pc.

Thanks for all of your input guys. I'm going to go with the Second one, should be a nice 18th birthday present to myself.

Oh would it be better if I switched to the 6GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory, because I'm still under 900 bucks with it.
