LAPD ex-cop manhunt. One officer already deceased.

Thought I should mention this:

"A multi-agency manhunt is under way in California after police say the former Los Angeles police officer suspected in the murders of a college basketball coach and her fiancé last weekend is following through on his vow to kill police officers after he opened fire Wednesday night on three police officers, killing one.

Dorner posted an online manifesto that warned, "I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty." The first shooting Wednesday night occurred in the city of Corona and involved two LAPD officers working to provide security detail to a person named on the manifesto, police said. One officer was grazed in the head.

The LAPD's elite Metropolitan squad was sent to protect others mentioned in Dorner's manifesto, KTTV.com reported.

Later, two officers on routine patrol in the neighboring city of Riverside were ambushed in their patrol car at a stop light, said Riverside Lt. Guy Toussaint. One Riverside officer died and the other was in surgery. The Riverside officers shot overnight were not actively looking for Dorner, authorities said.Police don't know where Dorner is, but think he left the area, Toussaint said. A badge and identification belonging to Dorner have been found in a San Diego airport. Police said the items were turned in to police at 2:27 a.m. Thursday but he does not know when they were found.

My sincerest condolences to family and friends of the officer killed. To be killed by a fellow officer is just appalling.
I hope this maniac can be stopped in time before he makes more victims.

  • No. "Letting tension out" is something you do at a gym, or playing sports, or games, or something like that. It's not something you do by beating someone on the side of the road.

  • Shhh! Damn, you know too much now. Bravo team move in, he knows our operation, flash bang and clear and take cp702 into custody.  Go go go! :D (Kidding of course)

  • When did the Chief make those remarks? I assume after he was deemed an enemy of the state? Yet if he was so bad as they claim, why wasn't he fired before? Why wasn't he fired prior to making those cla

Indeed, I'm flabbergasted as well. CHP seems to have issued a statewide "blue alert" so multiple agencies are all looking for him.

Also, Fox news stated that officers are advised not to partol on their own: "Local police are taking an abundance of caution. Corona police have suspended its motorcycle patrol and all officers are teamed up with partners.

Btw, that is one big guy:

Hm, the one where he ambushed the cruiser at the lights had this spring to mind:

Obviously without the crash.

Back on topic however, Good luck to catching him, it won't be easy given his training and such, My deepest sympathy goes out to the officer killed already and the family that will soon enough be given the bad news.

Quote from his manifesto: "This will be a war of attrition". Attrition is being the worrying word here, the same word I have just used to describe Field Marshall Haig on my coursework on the First World War (Battle of the Somme). It is used to describe 'victory' by  lots of soldier's deaths.

I can imagine officers are extremely jittery right now since every man in a uniform is a potential target, according to his manifest. The LAPD has labelled him as a "domestic terrorist".

What I am not seeing mentioned here is that the suspect was fired after reporting his FTO for police brutality. While I am not supporting his actions, I can see why he believes he is justified. Also, adding onto the two innocent people shot, further updates on that was that they were small Asian women delivering newspapers. You'd think that cops would be taught to identify targets before they shoot, they may just shoot each other while searching for this guy.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

He did make a report of brutality, but the people investigating determined that he had lied. Also, the FTO had told him the day before that he had to improve his performance, or else the FTO would file a negative training evaluation.

Yea Im right south of LA and majority of the stations near me are on full alert(sheriff offices)

TONS of cops everywhere.

I have heard similar stories from numerous other police departments in all sizes and all over the US, so I have no doubt that mr. Dorner is accurate in his description of the LAPD and how it operates.

What I am worried about is how this matter will be dealt with in the press, it's very likely that he will be projected as a "crazed lunatic" on a "killing spree", they will not look into the manifest, instead assist the LAPD in the manhunt by changing the public's image into one favouring the police.

It's also apparent that the LAPD is trying to get rid of Dorner, they already shot two innocent civilians whose only connection to Dorner is that they were in a vehicle that matched the one used by Dorner. The LAPD is out to kill Dorner, he will not come out of this alive.

I can't not support his message, the LAPD needs to clean itself and remove all the bad apples, however I cannot support his actions. However it appears that he has "snapped" and are no longer mentally stable.

I hope that we have seen the last death as a result of this case.

Yeah, LAPD is pretty messy once you pick up its rug. But it's not necessarily our city's fault..I mean the whole city is in a really bad shape, it's really unfixable at this point.

A couple days ago I was driving down to the groceries and I saw two cops literally punching this handcuffed Hispanic guy on the corner of the road. I mean I don't support that but I guess they gotta let their tension out.

No. "Letting tension out" is something you do at a gym, or playing sports, or games, or something like that. It's not something you do by beating someone on the side of the road.

This is just plain scary. What's terrible is I agree with what NicolaiB said in that the media will label him as a lunatic, and while what he did/doing is in no way shape or form just, he is trying to prove a point that the LAPD is corrupt. Though I do not support what he is doing to expose this, I do agree with the fact the LAPD is corrupt, from the many articles I've read. My local Police Chief is supposed to be canned because a councilwoman wants her husband, who is also a police officer, to become a detective. And the only way that's possible is if the chief is fired and peoples' ranks are moved about. It just shows that no matter where you are, there is corruption. There was nothing wrong with the chief, he was a nice guy and wanted to help the people, not to carry a gun and flaunt it. I hope that this guy is found and captured. Even though his manifesto won't be taken seriously since the media and most of the US populous will condemn him as a mentally insane murderer.

@CRAWFORD: That should be "condemn" at the end, not "condone". They mean pretty much opposite things.

Yes I agree but that's what they were doing in their eyes. We see them as cruel bastards who will beat the sh*t out of every available Mexican or Black but they see it as letting out stress.

Again, I don't condone that behavior at all.

Being from the UK, I've only ever seen the LAPD through fictional shows such as SouthLAnd but as I think Ben McKenzie stated in one interview, they strive for realism, meaning that every episode aims to be dead on with protocol and possible behaviour

Of course, they'll get it wrong but going from what I've seen, it doesn't seem unusual for officers in the LAPD to lash out every now and then at suspects. For instance, I'm pretty sure most of you would arrive to a domestic call on your own and upon finding the male strangling the life out of the woman, would throw him off and land a few punches on him. But this is based on how you were raised and what your moral values are.

Policing in LA cannot be easy, what with gangbangers and many unstable people (the hollywood washup's / wannabes)

Again, I'm not approving of police brutality, but its very easy to see how officers can snap for a few seconds.

I could be completely wrong however my opinion is based on the knowledge I've gained over the years via media outlets and personal experiences.

Oops, my bad. condone means accept but not agree, whereas condemn is the opposite. my bad. thanks for the correction!
