Smooth Driving V 1.07

(24 reviews)

1 Screenshot

Description
This modification enhances keyboard and mouse driving in Grand Theft Auto V, by smoothing out throttle, brake and steering, providing a cruise control feature with auto-follow, and other miscellaneous improvements such as engine control, fuelling, etc. Aggressive driving is still possible, either by double tapping W/S, or enabling race mode (detailed user guide included in download).

Important

This mod is known to be incompatible with ikt's Manual Transmission, and Custom Gear Ratios. It may also be incompatible with other similar driving mods.

Features
     - Smooth acceleration/deceleration
     - Smooth, realistic steering (with steering angle hold outside of vehicle)
     - Ignition control (engine stays on when leaving vehicle)
     - Fuel consumption and refueling
     - Cruise control with auto-follow
     - Improved, automatic gearbox
     - Optional custom gear ratios
     - Compact and informative UI
     - Extensive configuration
     - Turn and hazard indicators with automatic cutoff

Planned Features
     - Odometer (have to figure out how this will work in game)

Known Bugs
     - UI may flicker when FPS fluctuates a lot

     - If Menyoo is installed, AI shifting will not work in certain spots (such as Vespucci beach)
     - Please report any further bugs

Installation
    1. Ensure you have the following installed:

          - ASI Loader (OpenIV > Tools > ASI Manager)
          - ScriptHookV (latest version)
          - ScriptHookV .NET (latest version)
    2. Navigate to the Grand Theft Auto V main directory.
    3. Go to the Scripts folder (part of ScriptHookV .NET, if such folder does not exist, create it).
    4. Unpack the archive that was downloaded into the Scripts folder (SmoothDrivingV.dll and the SmoothDrivingV folder should be alongside one-another inside the Scripts folder).

Changelog
     - V1.01:
          - Added sequential shifting
          - Added ability to disable smooth steering

When you installed native UI. you put the Native files in "Scripts" folder?

Could you send a picture of your main game folder and your scripts folder?

You could try the different presets (in the .xml file). If you're used to the regular steering, it may seem weird at first. You just have to get used to it, like any new control method.

If youd like this is my personal XML file. You can try it out and see if it helps your steering better.
Also another thing to note is Changing the game default steering to something like "Print Screen and Pause break"
as GTA has tried to fight back against the mod.

NMF3Settings.xml

Sledge here is a picture of exactly what my "Scripts" folder contains.

Hopefully this helps
If yours looks like mine then is should be working. 856919282_ScriptsFiles.thumb.png.9d7b6dd9959990e732b4afc5cc579710.png

Why are you using NMF3Settings.xml with NoMoreFeatheringV4? It should be NMF4Settings, your config isn't even loading. Is it not giving you an error message?

You have to replace it with NMF4Settings.xml, otherwise it won't work. Is it not giving you any errors on startup?

No because its actually nmf4 settings its just when i saved it after making my edits i over wrote the save file as NMF3 lol

to answer your question. No i haven't had any errors at all with your mod! 👍

My mod loads an xml file that is called NMF4Settings, it does not look for a file called NMF3Settings. If it's not showing you an error right now, then there's something wrong, because after I renamed my config to NMF3Settings, it doesn't work and shows me an error message.

Try setting enableSpeedometer to false and fullThrottleTooltip to true, and set the fullThrottleTooltipText to something other than FULL THROTTLE ON. Then, in game, try enabling fast mode. If the settings actually work, then there's some Illuminati stuff going on here.

I am hear to ask the same question @sid1138, id like to know also if this is recommended for controller users.

I would say it is not recommended for Controller users as this helps with throttle feathering for key board players
as you really dont need that for a controller

As 3A17 said, feathering is not an issue when it comes to controllers, but you could still use the auto braking, indicators, cruise control and speedometer (auto braking might not work, I don't have a controller to actually test it). I should probably just rename this mod to driving overhaul.

True, guess i can understand that, as i am sure driving is easier with the controller, but as you said, the auto braking, CC, and smoother steering could be very useful; the indicators for example im using with another mod but would definitely use this a a great replacement

Can an option to disable the indicators feature be added soon?
I just don't use and need such feature and there's no way to disable it right now like the other features.

I just put it in my GTA V Directory Folder, but seem like nothing happened. My car still going with crazy speed. Any suggestion?

I used to have another version of this plugin maybe the old one. But it's files are Plugins, not Scripts. Can i have it back or you just deleted it?

This is actually a really nice script

The only problem I have is having to hold down the HalfSpeedModifierKey when I want to go fast, otherwise if I let it go my speed wont pickup at all. This kinda annoying when in a pursuit.

Does the mod work for you?

When the "full throttle" mode is enabled, are the steering changes also enabled?

@Lieutenant Dan

Can you just give me the link that use as plugin files? I prefer using plugins than Script file. If you can, i will really appreciate

Does anyone know how to change the speedlimit ingame?

It says you can but I cannot find a way and I've been looking through the keys and can't find anything.

Any help would be nice. 😄

Otherwise very nice mod.
