Smooth Driving V 1.07

Makes keyboard driving smoother and provides more control over your vehicle
   (23 reviews)

Compatibility Warning
This plugin depends on Community Script Hook V .NET, which is broken and may cause random crashes in your game. This has been reported to their developers, but no stable release is currently available that fixes this critical problem.
Some users have reported success with their nightly/unstable builds.

Description
This modification enhances keyboard and mouse driving in Grand Theft Auto V, by smoothing out throttle, brake and steering, providing a cruise control feature with auto-follow, and other miscellaneous improvements such as engine control, fuelling, etc. Aggressive driving is still possible, either by double tapping W/S, or enabling race mode (detailed user guide included in download).

Important

This mod is known to be incompatible with ikt's Manual Transmission, and Custom Gear Ratios. It may also be incompatible with other similar driving mods.

Features
     - Smooth acceleration/deceleration
     - Smooth, realistic steering (with steering angle hold outside of vehicle)
     - Ignition control (engine stays on when leaving vehicle)
     - Fuel consumption and refueling
     - Cruise control with auto-follow
     - Improved, automatic gearbox
     - Optional custom gear ratios
     - Compact and informative UI
     - Extensive configuration
     - Turn and hazard indicators with automatic cutoff

Planned Features
     - Odometer (have to figure out how this will work in game)

Known Bugs
     - UI may flicker when FPS fluctuates a lot

     - If Menyoo is installed, AI shifting will not work in certain spots (such as Vespucci beach)
     - Please report any further bugs

Installation
    1. Ensure you have the following installed:

          - ASI Loader (OpenIV > Tools > ASI Manager)
          - ScriptHookV (latest version)
          - ScriptHookV .NET (latest version)
    2. Navigate to the Grand Theft Auto V main directory.
    3. Go to the Scripts folder (part of ScriptHookV .NET, if such folder does not exist, create it).
    4. Unpack the archive that was downloaded into the Scripts folder (SmoothDrivingV.dll and the SmoothDrivingV folder should be alongside one-another inside the Scripts folder).

Changelog
     - V1.01:
          - Added sequential shifting
          - Added ability to disable smooth steering

Thanks for the log file. It appears that the plugin is loading fine, so I will go ahead and add debug messages to my plugin and send you the new version. With that, I can see up to what point the code is executing.

Hey ! Seems like the plugin isn't working anymore !

Yes sir, it isn't working. It seems to be a problem with RagePluginHook itself as the new version broke it. Debugging showed that the driveForce of vehicles always returns zero which triggers a safeguard in my script to disable it, otherwise the car would simply not drive. I have reported the bug and will attempt to fix this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Come oooooooooooooon!

I am very sorry. I have no idea how long the process of fixing this plugin will take. I have changed nothing about the plugin, and the driveforce, upon debugging, always returns zero in the new RPH version. Thus, it can be deduced that the RPH SDK is at fault here. I have created a bug report on the RPH discord, and I have been waiting for a reply for a while now. But a solution for the time being could be to use the Manual Transmission & Steering Wheel Support mod and use any axis you have (e.g. a controller, joystick).

No no no this is not acceptable. I want to be able to drive smoothly, now.

Is there a way you can make driveforce return 777 and hope God gets involved??

    edit:

Seriously though, does this mod have ANY dependencies on script hook dot net? Because someone sent me a new version that doesn't seem to be compiled anywhere I can find at least or for public download.  If this mod does use sh.net then I could send it to you. Another thing is why can't I just use an older RPH version? the latest 2 work with 1.604 or whatever this new patch is called.

Listen to the trees, they will guide you. Kifflom.

Anyway, yes you can use an older version of RPH. Also, this does not use sh.net. It is solely a RPH plugin. Sorry for the inconvenience, I will continue checking the RPH discord and inquiring about my our driveforce related issue.

Is possible that this mod will have a non-RPH required version? For keyboard users that don't use RPH (like me) would be great to be able to use this mod without the need to install something we won't really use.

Actually, that's a great idea. Since it's broken with the RPH SDK, maybe I can just make it a non-RPH version. I'll start looking in to perhaps making this a ScriptHookV plugin, or maybe a ScriptHookV.NET plugin. Thanks for the suggestion!

Awesome mod. It takes a bit to get used to managing the throttle, especially for quick response. But I love how immersive it is to not fly around constantly unless you tap your W. The simulation feels great. Thanks for the update!

You finally did it buddy!! I saw this way back in the day and ever since I have always recommended it, not only did you move it from RPH to Scripthook, but you also fixed the steering too! Absolutely amazing job dude

ahh, i can't rly steering with car with this mod, acceleration is great but i can't turn left or right rly 😄

    same.

Its because the values in the settings file dont have a prefix.

stiffness is .08 which throws ingame an error on reload - like anyother values.

But adding a zero before all this values just fix the errors, but then u cant drive anymore.

Doesn't seem to work for me. Whenever I attempt to accelerate (holding W) the car does one of three things: flat out doesn't move, creeps ever so slowly, or actually reverses. Also,  using the "fullthrottlemodifier" (holding ctrl key)  doesn't work while accelerating. Oddly enough, reversing (holding S) seems to work perfectly fine and the "fullthrottlemodifier" also works. Not sure if it's a mod conflict or possibly something else. Also, the steering keys (A & D) don't get taken over by NMF as is stated in the NMF3Settings.xml.

Great to see that this mod finally can be used without RPH 🙂
As others said, there seems to be a problem with steering because is hard to do a normal turn. Can you look at it?

Wow, this is really strange. When I tested the plugin myself everything worked fine.

Do you mean that the vehicle just isn't turning, or that the vehicle turns slowly?
