Smooth Driving V 1.07

Makes keyboard driving smoother and provides more control over your vehicle
   (23 reviews)

Compatibility Warning
This plugin depends on Community Script Hook V .NET, which is broken and may cause random crashes in your game. This has been reported to their developers, but no stable release is currently available that fixes this critical problem.
Some users have reported success with their nightly/unstable builds.

Description
This modification enhances keyboard and mouse driving in Grand Theft Auto V, by smoothing out throttle, brake and steering, providing a cruise control feature with auto-follow, and other miscellaneous improvements such as engine control, fuelling, etc. Aggressive driving is still possible, either by double tapping W/S, or enabling race mode (detailed user guide included in download).

Important

This mod is known to be incompatible with ikt's Manual Transmission, and Custom Gear Ratios. It may also be incompatible with other similar driving mods.

Features
     - Smooth acceleration/deceleration
     - Smooth, realistic steering (with steering angle hold outside of vehicle)
     - Ignition control (engine stays on when leaving vehicle)
     - Fuel consumption and refueling
     - Cruise control with auto-follow
     - Improved, automatic gearbox
     - Optional custom gear ratios
     - Compact and informative UI
     - Extensive configuration
     - Turn and hazard indicators with automatic cutoff

Planned Features
     - Odometer (have to figure out how this will work in game)

Known Bugs
     - UI may flicker when FPS fluctuates a lot

     - If Menyoo is installed, AI shifting will not work in certain spots (such as Vespucci beach)
     - Please report any further bugs

Installation
    1. Ensure you have the following installed:

          - ASI Loader (OpenIV > Tools > ASI Manager)
          - ScriptHookV (latest version)
          - ScriptHookV .NET (latest version)
    2. Navigate to the Grand Theft Auto V main directory.
    3. Go to the Scripts folder (part of ScriptHookV .NET, if such folder does not exist, create it).
    4. Unpack the archive that was downloaded into the Scripts folder (SmoothDrivingV.dll and the SmoothDrivingV folder should be alongside one-another inside the Scripts folder).

Changelog
     - V1.01:
          - Added sequential shifting
          - Added ability to disable smooth steering

Could you modify your script in a way that, instead of using keys for selecting the drive modes, the keyboard has to "spool" up like a turbo?

What I mean by that is let's say it takes 1 or 2 seconds to reach a fully pushed in gas pedal. This way, we don't have to use any keys, we can just modulate our throttle. A slowed down steering response would be greatly appreciated as well, since right now cars turn very nervously as well.

Also maybe a nice addition would be to have a key to control when the shift points should be.

Thank you for the great suggestion, and this would also solve the motorbike problem. What did you mean by control where the shift points should be?

For example we'd have 2 settings. 1 is normal every day use, meaning the car will shift gear at like 1/3 of the rpm range while in the 2nd mode, we'd have the car redline every single gear.

Controlling that with a single key would be nice. Like push "x" once you get mode #1, push "x" again you get mode #2.

Yeah, that was one of my plans. I'll go ahead and release an update during this weekend hopefully. Thanks for the suggestions :)

This is actually a really nice script

The only problem I have is having to hold down the HalfSpeedModifierKey when I want to go fast, otherwise if I let it go my speed wont pickup at all. This kinda annoying when in a pursuit.

I'll be updating the method of speed control so rather than modifier keys, you'll be able to gradually adjust the throttle, allowing for modulation of the throttle and also allowing you to have access to full throttle in one key at the same time.

@Lieutenant DanIs it just me or does lspdfr block the modifier keys?

No it doesn't, but it might interfere with pullovers.

Looking forward to this. Love the idea of the mod, but my main frustration is having to hold shift while in a pursuit.

I think this would work better if you just had it as a toggle system. Like just press CTRL to toggle between slow, medium, and fast. That way when you need to go into pursuit mode, just tap CTRL twice to get going, and then you don't have to worry about the shift key interfering with traffic stops.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I will implement what you stated, alongside a precision toggle key, where if you have it on, the throttle moves up slowly, but if off, the throttle is the regular 100%/0% system.

I don't know how possible this is but would this not be easier:

    1. Have a 'toggle' key to turn on/off the feature completely
    2. Then have multiple speed increments (say 5, 10, 15, 20, etc) that the player would be able to select (have 2 keys to go up and down the increments).

It would be possible, but that would mean you don't have immediate control over your throttle and brakes, which is what my plugin attempts to give you, while maintaining a slow speed. Also, that idea would make my plugin the same as all of the other already released cruise control plugins.

I meant more as a speed limiter (which is the part which I thought was not really possible). Should've probably worded it better

A speed limiter would certainly be possible, and is already implemented, just not adjustable in game.

You can map the modifier keys to CTRL and ALT.
